• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

ASB Central's new event hall is wearing its best for the first time, welcoming ASB celebrities new and old to celebrate another year of battle. People-watching ASBers point out their favorite trainers and refs while raiding the tables lined with an incredible assortment of food and drink. As the night wears on, trainers are nominated, votes are cast, and at last, the head referee steps up to the microphone to announce the winners...

ASB Awards 2009

After a year's hiatus, the ASB Awards return for the first time since the board wipe. Everyone is welcome to submit categories, nominations, and votes, so the more the merrier--give a shout-out to another ASB player whom you think is totally awesome. The awards take place in three stages:

1. Discussion of categories: now through September 12th. I've included all the categories I can remember being successful in the past, but if you would like to suggest others, feel free to post here. Please no negative categories (e.g. "Worst Battler"), though.

2. Nominations: run from the 13th through the 20th. PM your nominations for as many different categories as you like to me.

3. Voting: takes place from September 21st to October 3rd. Voting is carried out by PM.

The results will be announced on the league's fourth birthday, which is October 4th.

The only other category I can remember is Best Contest Appeal, but the contests have all moved so slowly that they aren't fresh in anyone's memories and I doubt anyone cares enough to go back through them and look. :I That and I seem to recall something about businesses, but no one uses those anymore so that's not worth it.

Uh, what else... Best Strategy (probably within the space of a round or two, dunno, since setting up for anything longer term than that happens so rarely)... Biggest Upset/Favorite Underdog? Perhaps Most Improved, if you think it'd be different enough from Best New ASBer?

Ohoh yeah, contests. Yeah, there hasn't been one finished since the new league started, so I don't really see any real reason to include them for now. Businesses either--last time I think the two that were nominated were just the one for catching pokémon and the one for evolutions, right? Heh.

Ah yeah, I meant to put most improved but forgot it. I'll add that one. Best strategy is one we had before, I think it went pretty well... not sure about biggest upset/favorite underdog. Might just be that I can't think of any battles that went that way recently, or that I don't know who all would be considered underdogs in the league, aside from maybe a couple. I'll put the first two in, but I think I'll hold off on the underdog one unless there's more interest in it.

All right, it's time for nominations! Please PM me nominations for any number of categories; you can nominate the same person as many times as you want, but you can't nominate yourself.

The nomination period will continue until Sunday the 20th.

All right! Forgot to close this officially yesterday, but nominations are over and the voting phase has begun. Voting's pretty simple; PM me votes for as many of the categories as you wish sometime by October 3rd. You may vote for yourself in a category if you would like. For categories that only have one nominee, if you think that they should win, vote for them; otherwise, don't. If, at the end, they've received at least 50% of the vote, they win, and other wise, no one wins in that category.

So yeah, vote away.

Just a reminder that you only have one more day to submit votes if you're intending to but haven't done so yet.

And here we are, on the fourth anniversary of the league's creation, with the results of the 2009 ASB Awards! The winners for each category have been marked in the first post; congratulations to all of them, and especially to the ASBer of the year for 2009, Kratos Aurion! Also, a big thanks to everyone who participated by nominating, sending in votes, and suggesting categories. Without you, the awards couldn't go on.

Congratulations again to all the winners, and here's to another year of TCoD ASB!
