Grass King vs. Negrek

Great work, Flo! We've got one more free action, so let's drop a substitute to protect us from harm later.

After that, spam hidden power. If your sub is gone on the last action, protect against status-inflicting attacks. Use natural gift if there are clones or Kitsune's gone underground.

Substitute (10%) ~ Hidden Power / Natural Gift ~ Hidden Power / Natural Gift / Protect

Okay if you somehow manage to break the Encore, then use Skull Bash, and the same for the second action. On the third, if she still has a sub then Skull Bash again, otherwise Disable Hidden Power.

Flamethrower/Skull Bash ~ Skull Bash ~ Skull Bash/Disable (Hidden Power)

3 vs 3 - Set Single
DQ Time: 3 Days
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned and Restricted Moves: Weather Moves, OHKO's, Chilling, Direct Healing
Additional Rules:

Arena: Outside the Battle Arena
The battle takes place right outside the Battle Frontier's Battle Arena facility, out in the open air. The immediate area is covered in nicely manicured grass and a few flowers. The Arena building itself is surrounded on three sides by water and a small pond sits on the other side of the battlers, so water moves can be used and Water-types that need to swim can do so. The battlers cannot move away from the immediate area, so heading towards the plaza or another facility is forbidden.

Since this match is happening so close to the Arena, it seems such a shame not to follow Greta's rules... or, at least, a variation on them. As such, both battlers will send out their Pokémon and attack for three battle rounds (a total of 9 attacks per Pokémon) before the ref calls a halt. After the three rounds both Pokémon are recalled and unable to continue in the current battle, and their current health, energy and status are noted for later. Both trainers will then send out their next Pokémon and continue for the next three rounds. At the end (which should be nine total rounds), the health and energy of all Pokémon is totaled and whichever trainer has the highest score wins.

The following rules also apply:

-If a Pokémon has fainted, either due to HP loss OR energy loss, the battle stops right where it is (even if it has not yet been three rounds) and both Pokémon are recalled. Fainted Pokémon DO still count toward the final score, but as either their health or their energy is at 0% they won't add anywhere near as much.

-If, at the end of the three rounds, a battler is afflicted with a status condition, that condition detracts from their final score as follows:

Paralyzed, Burned, Confused: -10 points
Poisoned, Attracted: -15 points
Asleep, Frozen: -20 points

If the Pokémon has more than one status condition, only the first one they were afflicted with detracts full points; all others afterwards only detract five, no matter what they are.

As an example of how scoring works: Trainer A sends out a Treecko and Trainer B sends out a Turtwig. Treecko and Turtwig battle for three rounds; Treecko finishes with 64% HP and 72% energy and Turtwig finishes with 71% HP and 59% energy. Treecko has also been poisoned by Toxic. Both Pokémon stop battling and so their scores would look like this: Turtwig (71H + 59E = 130), Treecko (64H + 72E - 15 [poison] = 121). Therefore, Trainer B (Turtwig's trainer) would have the lead with 130 points over 121.

As far as TCoDASB battles are concerned, experience is determined like this: all Pokémon get the usual 1 experience point for being sent into battle, and if one Pokémon actually knocks another out it will get the 1 experience point as normal. If neither Pokémon faints at the end of three rounds, the one with the lower score (Treecko in the above example) is considered knocked out for the purposes of experience, so Turtwig would get the extra 1 exp.
Arena status: There's a sizable hole on the ground in front of Negrek's side of the field. In front of that hole, there are several fragments of rock scattered about, as well as a slightly larger, charred stone.

-----

The middlepoint of the nine-round battle was reach as the commands were issued. About the best opportunity to start turning the tables if you're under.

Still quite uncertain, Kitsune opened the round with another blast of flames. Seeing it fall flat again, though, she started to realize she might have been goaded into using that attack for the wrong reasons.

Phlogiston, not paying much mind, barely managed to keep her unnatural stance as she dug up some clumps of dirt, sculpting from them a likeness of herself. Having that done, she animated it with a pulse of life force.

No sooner than it was spawned, though, the decoy was taken apart by a calculated, yet powerful rush tackle from the opponent. Annoyed, the Chimchar immediately counterattacked, firing a volley of aquatic energy provided by his Splash Plate.

After that move connected, however, the Vulpix quickly linked up with her foe's mind, placing a psychic lock on Hidden Power. The satisfying results were quickly visible, as the chimp Pokémon struggled to attack again, but just couldn't do it.

- Grass King attacks first next round.

Okay Kitsune, use Dark Pulse thrice. If you can't use that for some reason, then use Extrasensory. If she has any clones, then Swift to dispose of them.

Dark Pulse/Extrasensory/Swift x3

Excellent work, Phlogiston! Let's bring this one home. We haven't properly shocked Kitsune yet, so start by faking her out! Then dig underground to avoid those dark pulses (you can learn dig, right? -_-). After the second dark pulse, pop up and deal some damage!

Fake Out ~ Dig (down; dodge) ~ Dig (wait; attack)

-----

The sixth round rolled in. It was a point about as decisive as it gets -- Negrek could snatch the victory right then and there, but Grass King could break even and take another shot at the match. What would transpire in this meaningful moment?

With an unnatural leap from her odd stance, Phlogiston moved within the same split second at which the referee said the word go. The burst of agility completely caught her opponent off-guard, giving her much trouble capitalizing in her commands as she received a couple of comical slaps to the sides of the face.

After this, the Chimchar started to tear at the ground with his nimble hands, for once aided by his copied posture. That was not to bear fruit, however, as a faster Kitsune managed to get to her before that. Vengeful over the humiliation over the last few rounds, she had no trouble summoning a cloud of grim thoughts, unleashing a horrible pitch-black wave at her target.

The attack daunted the chimp Pokémon thorougly. The gruesome evil of Dark Pulse shredded her previous enthusiasm with the battle, as her eagerness to win faded into desperate fright.

After a series of laughter-like barks, the fox Pokémon gave the dark assault continuity. She dropped a few taunts about how it could help in the roleplay as her mind ran through the darkest secrets held by Vulpix. A whole new level of morbid backed the second pulse of pure disgust, ensuring that the target stay sunk in a pit of paralyzing scare, inactive.

The interlope with the forces of evil might or might not have earned Kitsune a few Kilonazis; however, it was all said and done.

"That's it! We will now go to judging to determine the winner!"

Phlogiston's Health: 63%
Phlogiston's Energy: 80%
Negrek: 143 points

Kitsune's Health: 75%
Kitsune's Energy: 66%
Grass King: 141 points

That was close!

Arena status: There's a sizable hole on the ground in front of Negrek's side of the field. In front of that hole, there are several fragments of rock scattered about, as well as a slightly larger, charred stone. One patch around the place was also dug up, but only a little.

Additional notes:
- So, does the battle end here? Considering that we already have a winner.

I beliiieve we still go for another round; the winner is determined by the final score after all three pokémon have been accounted for, and it's possible for someone to have a lower score going into round three and make up the difference to come back with a win overall. It's not a straight-up best two of three.

Alright, then. Grass King sends out now, then Negrek sends out and issues commands, and lastly Grass King issues commands.
