Alright, I guess I'll send out Lumen and Tenebrae! Do your best!

OK, Tenebrae, use Shadow ball on Ghastly, three times. If you are being attacked, use Detect, but only use it twice. If you are being attacked, or if you are about to get hit with a hypnosis, then get the hell out of the way.

Lumen! Use hypnosis on Sandy, then feast on his dreams for the last actions. If hypnosis doesn't work the first time, keep on using it. If you are about to get hit, or by a hypnosis, then use protect, but only use it twice at most.

Tenebrae: Shadow Ball x3/Get the hell out of the way
Lumen: Hypnosis/Protect~Dream Eater/Hypnosis/Protect~Dream Eater/Hypnosis/Protect

Okay Spooky, start off by Curseing the Ralts. Then Torment the Eevee until it works. If you have an extra action, then use a Shadow Ball on Ralts.

Sandy, If you're asleep, then use Sleep Talk, and if yopu need a target, then go for the Eevee. If you're awake, then use Faint Attack on the Ralts.

For once, the designated battle arena was normal, simple, and down-to-earth. No floating platforms in the sky, no colour-changing rocks, just a pool with platforms placed in various locations for Pokemon without the ability to swim. The referee sat at the edge of the pool, idly biting her nails as she waited for the trainers to show up. She didn’t have to wait long. The double doors that served as the entrance to the room flung open and in strolled Grass King, a widely-recognized resident of Asber, and Xaldin, a face that was newer to the region. The two newcomers clustered around the referee, who quickly went over the rules and restrictions. The sound of water lapping at the gutters made the battlers impatient to start the fight, and with a dismissive wave the referee signaled for them to take their positions.

They obeyed gladly. Grass King thought for several moments before throwing two Pokeballs, one with each hand. Twin flashes of light revealed Sandy the Trapinch, who nervously scuttled away from the edge of the platform she was sent out on, and Spooky the Gastly, who hovered above the surface of the water. Xaldin grinned, clearly quite confident, before throwing two of his own Pokeballs. Tenebrae and Lumen appeared on the same platform. A faint sparkle could be seen around the Eevee and Ralts, and the referee craned her neck forward to take a closer look.

Of course, due to the fact he was not bound with the limitations of a corporal body, Spooky was the first to make his move. While Sandy was just starting to comprehend her commands, the Gastly broke out in an awful, loud chorus of insane laughter, startling every battler into silence. They knew all Gastly were unhinged in some way or another, but this… What they didn’t know was that Spooky’s mirthful screeches were imbued with a terrible, ancient power. Threads of water, somehow murky despite the fact that the pool was crystal clear, slowly slithered their way out of the pool to wrap around Lumen’s feet. He cried out in alarm and tried to jerk a foot back, but it was like someone had nailed him to the floor. Spooky’s chuckles transformed into words that sounded like the crackling of a hungry blaze; as if encouraged by the strange language, more watery fingers extended from the pool to grip at its victim. With a loud shout from Spooky, the murky liquid seemed to be sucked into Lumen’s skin, and he stumbled as an overpowering feeling of nausea crashed down on him. Spooky seemed to be afflicted by the same sensation, though, as he suddenly dipped dangerously close to the surface of the water.

As Lumen struggled with his new condition and Sandy lazily worked her jaws, Tenebrae glared at Spooky. Whatever he did seemed pretty nasty… better make sure he didn’t do it again. The shadows all throughout the arena seemed to be plucked from their place to be formed in a black-purple blob in front of the Eevee’s snout, rendering the arena oddly two-dimensional. When the Shadow Ball was just smaller than his head, Tenebrae gave it a nudge, and the unstable orb hurtled forward to explode in Spooky’s face. He snarled as he was blown backwards, the energy burning horribly at his skin. Even when the shadows retreated back to their original places, he felt a sting; if he had been able to see his own chin, he would see a patch of black, seared ghost flesh.

By that time, Lumen had managed to suppress his urge to vomit, and he swung his head up to stare at Sandy. The Trapinch, giant jaws still slightly open, stared back, completely oblivious to the soothing psychic signals Lumen was sending her until he felt a weight descend on her eyelids. Within a few seconds the Trapinch was asleep, legs sprawled out ungracefully and huge head resting on the platform. Not another moment passed, however, before she started muttering in her sleep. She staggered to her stubby legs and opened her mouth to reveal that her teeth were gleaming with a faint shroud of bug-type energy, but when she approached the edge of the platform she wavered uncertainly before collapsing back on the ground.

After dipping his body a few times in the cold water to dull the burn of his bruise, Spooky swung his head up and gave Tenebrae a challenging stare. The Eevee’s returning glare slowly withered as the Gastly spewed out colourful sentences aimed mostly at his low-caliber tactics – super effective attacks, huh! Try winning a battle without spamming that one valuable move! Tenebrae’s ears drooped in shame and he stared down at his paws. He didn’t want to look like a fool in front of all these Pokemon… So preoccupied was he with his mental brooding that he neglected to attack at all. Spooky chuckled inwardly.

Lumen took no notice of his humiliated partner. Instead, he delved into Sandy’s dreams and slowly glanced around. Sandy was prancing about in a desert, perfectly at home amidst the howling winds. Giggling darkly to himself, Lumen reached out and snatched away the chunk of ground beneath the antlion; without any ground to stand on, Sandy immediately plummeted down, down, and down, screaming all the while. Lumen continued to tear pieces of the dream away for himself, and when his concentration ran out and he was forced to retreat from the Trapinch’s mind, he was feeling quite satiated. The Ralts had no wounds to speak of thus far, however, and the dreamstuff did little more than fill his stomach.

As if the horror of having her dream ripped into shreds had poked the languid creature into action, Sandy stumbled to her feet. Lumen started, thinking that she had woken up, but her eyes were still sealed shut. The Trapinch opened her jaws again. This time, though, words poured out of her mouth; mangled, slurred words, but coherent sentences nonetheless. You, she half-shouted, dramatically jerking up one foot to point at Tenebrae, you think y’r sooo pretty, wizzat shiny coatta yours? Blafpemy! See my skin? Smoothed by… lotsa sand? Now that’s shiny. Tenebrae fumed indignantly as Sandy laid her gigantic head back on the platform with a snort. How dare that ugly, oversized antlion mock his appearance? A red haze of anger clouded his vision, even as his muscles became uncoordinated with the need to rip something apart.

With Tenebrae sufficiently distracted, Spooky turned his attention on Lumen. Once again the arena was robbed of its depth as shadows were sucked towards a spot in front of Spooky’s face. When it was complete, the Gastly swatted the murky ball with his tongue, sending it straight into Lumen’s stomach – or at least that’s where it would’ve ended up, if the Ralts had not quickly erected a translucent green shield at, literally, the last second. The Shadow Ball burst apart on contact with the energy barrier.

Tenebrae watched as Spooky executed his attack, almost bursting with rage. The Gastly had just used the very move he had been criticized for, with that smug, infuriating grin plastered all over his face. What a hypocrite! The fury in the Eevee’s little body flared up with renewed vigour as he forcefully yanked the shadows out of their places for the third time this round to form a wobbly sphere at his snout. He pushed it, nearly tripping over his own paws as he stepped forward, and it barreled straight into Spooky. It clipped the side of his face, momentarily blowing that section apart into wispy pieces that reformed swiftly, but not without a new feeling of agony. The two Shadow Balls, combined with the Curse he had cast earlier, were seriously wearing down on his health – and it hadn’t even been a single round.

As usual, Sandy was the last to move. This time, she didn’t even bother to stand up. She sleepily snapped her jaws several times, and with each snap two or three clear, colourless orbs appeared around her head, orbiting it. With a final snap, all the orbs stopped in place, turned a blue-green colour, and homed on Tenebrae as if guided by an invisible hand. He attempted to sidestep, but that brought him dangerously close to the water. Without any other options, he crouched on the spot and cowered, wincing as the spheres slammed into his body. He cried out in pain when several hit his sensitive eyes and nose. Each orb left behind a stinging sensation, as if a tiny fire had burned him. Still whimpering, Tenebrae crouched on the platform and pawed at his nose, embarrassment and rage bubbling within him like boiling liquid.

Next to Tenebrae, Lumen had let his Protect fade away – and suddenly doubled over, clutching his stomach and gasping for breath. If the trainers squinted, they would have been have to just make out wisps of light blue separating themselves from the Ralts’s body as the curse laid on him sapped away at his health.

Final notes
Grass King attacks first next round.
Xaldin, in Tenebrae’s commands you said to either ‘get the hell out of the way’ or ‘use Detect’ if he was attacked. Both options were viable on the last action, when he was attacked, so I rolled a dice and got the ‘dodge’ option. Unfortunately, his dodging abilities don’t do well on the edge of a platform.
Sandy’s Sleep Talk turned up Fury Cutter (which failed because she needed to cross the pool to reach her target), Swagger, and Hidden Power (Dragon).
Tenebrae’s first Shadow Ball lowered Spooky’s Special Defense.
Tenebrae didn’t attack on the 2nd action due to Torment.
Hidden Power scored a critical hit.
I have a feeling I missed something in the final notes. Huh, double battles are loooong.

Okay Spooky, turn invisible and move underwater, so that no one will hurt you anymore. After that use Trick Room, so that Sandy can attack first. Finish off with using Psychic on Eevee.

Sandy, if you're asleep use Sleep Talk on Eevee, otherwise set up a Sandstorm, then spawn Earth Power's at Eevee.

Lumen! Wake up Sandy by using Psychic and dropping him in the water, then use Magical Leaf on him. If for any reason you can't use Magical Leaf, use calm mind.

With a little cackle, Spooky began to fade around the edges. The transparency quickly spread across his entire body until he was entirely invisible. Still cackling, the Gastly dove into the pool – there was a small splash – and the chuckles were abruptly replaced by a steady stream of bubbles. Eventually those died down, too, leaving absolutely no trace of the Pokemon’s presence. The three remaining Pokemon stared at the place where Spooky had plunged into the water.

Tenebrae was spurred back into action, though, after a verbal prod from his trainer. He sat back on his haunches and closed his eyes solemnly, yelling and pleading to Jirachi in his mind with all his might. Prayers and incantations were mumbled under the small cat’s breath, and after a particularly fervent one, the lighting in the room seemed to dim. Tenebrae gave a little yip of joy as another voice reverberated in his head, confident that his prayers had been answered.

While his partner tilted his head towards the ceiling and begged for assistance from the gods, Lumen once again extended a psychic reach towards Sandy. This time, though, he had no intention of ripping apart the antlion’s dream – endless dark voids are so tasteless – and instead jerked her up in the air before slamming her back down into the pool about a meter away from the nearest platform. Immediately Sandy’s eyes flew open and she made a sort of strangled scream as she started thrashing ineffectually at the water. Droplets flew everywhere, spattering nearby platforms with liquid. To the best of her ability, Sandy attempted to execute her commands while flailing about in the element she hated most, but there was hardly any sand in the arena and she didn’t have the concentration to dredge up any more debris. She wailed piteously.

While watching his partner flail around helplessly, Spooky couldn’t help but cringe. Use Trick Room so Sandy could attack first? She couldn’t attack, period. Nevertheless, he concentrated fiercely until he could see the fine strings that wove time crisscrossing in front of him. Snickering to himself, he reached out with his tongue and pulled at a select few wires, snapping them here and there, and tying them into completely new constructs, until he was surrounded by a rectangular prism of glowing pink strings. Spooky grunted, and then released his concentration in a pulse of pure psychic energy that expanded the rectangle to encompass the entire room. Tenebrae and Lumen – Sandy was still too busy trying to keep her head above the water – whipped their heads around wildly, trying to find the source of the strange, insubstantial cords, even as Tenebrae suddenly felt inexplicably sluggish and Lumen wonderfully invigorated. Likewise, Spooky felt a horrible pressure descend on his incorporeal body, while Sandy would have felt incredibly nimble, if she weren’t floundering about in the pool.

The Trapinch’s newfound speed, though, meant that she could actually move around in the water despite her lack of reliable swimming appendages. Slowly but surely, she worked her way towards a nearby platform, her efforts churning the water around her into a white froth. As she closed in on the edge of the platform, Lumen began to charge an orb of iridescent grass-type energy between his clasped hands; just as Sandy clambered over the edge, panting and soaking wet, leaves burst of out the sphere Lumen held, each glowing with a strange light. They sliced into Sandy’s thick skin, leaving a lattice of shallow cuts, and the antlion made a raspy whimpering noise.

Tenebrae had been sitting to the side for a while now, and he was fairly confident that no-one was out for his blood at the moment. He gathered the room’s shadows in front of him, cringing when he remembered Spooky’s jeering words – they wouldn’t think him a tactless fighter if he used it this once, right? Before his mind could ramble on further, Tenebrae pushed the ball towards a forlorn, dripping Trapinch. The Shadow Ball exploded on contact and left a coating of sticky, blackish fluid on a spot of Sandy’s back; when she shook it off, a dark bruise was revealed.

Now that Sandy was on dry land once more, she closed her eyes and manipulated the air in the arena. First the air just above the water and tiles whipped about, dislodging grit and sand and stirring the surface of the pool. Then, abruptly, the gale tripled in intensity, blowing debris into open wounds and irritating eyes.

Lumen growled as a larger particle found its way under the rim of his cap and perilously close to his eye. At least his next attack didn’t require any aiming. The Ralts squeezed his eyes shut and summoned another orb of grass energy, which in turn summoned a myriad of energy-charged leaves that homed into their target: Sandy. A dozen or so scratches opened up on her hide in addition to the ones she already sported, and she cried out in pain again.

Struggling with a feeling of lethargy that was, admittedly, of his own doing, Spooky finally got his rebellious mental muscles to move. With a psychic hand he searched the arena, looking for a clump of brown fur – ah, there. Tenebrae felt a tingle as he registered the Psychic, and hastily attempted to erect a shield to protect him from harm, but his brain was still quite uncoordinated and there was no way he could accomplish the task him time. The Eevee yelled as Spooky jabbed and pressed at the pain sensors in his brain, making his whole body tremble in agony; he took a step back, stumbled, and collapsed on his side, still twitching in pain. At last, after what felt like hours, Spooky retreated from his victim’s brain. Tenebrae was left with a pounding headache and an aching shoulder.

All of a sudden, the lighting in the room dimmed dramatically, like someone had flicked off the light switch. Everyone looked around in confusion – everyone except Tenebrae. The Eevee had stumbled back to his feet and was looking at the ceiling with an expression of elation. A single star winked into existence directly above him, even though the building was completely cut off from the sky. Like a glittering jewel it dropped and began to orbit around Tenebrae, showering him with fine, silver dust. After several moments the star disappeared and the lighting returned to normal. The Pokemon shrugged it off as some sort of weird technique – they had definitely seem much stranger things, after all – but what they did notice was that Tenebrae’s injuries, somehow, had all disappeared.

Like the previous two rounds, after the referee waved her flags to bring a temporary halt to the battling, Lumen hissed and clutched at his stomach as the Curse ate away at yet more of his health.

Final notes
Grass King attacks first next round, due to Trick Room.
Psychic’s damage was reduced because it was not used to directly damage Sandy.
Sandy had to expend 2% energy per action to stay afloat. She managed to get back onto a platform by the end of the 2nd action.
Shadow Ball lowered Sandy’s Special Defense.
Damage from Sandstorm will be slightly reduced due to lack of debris.
Wish activated at the end of the 3rd action.

With a flash of a cloak of dark energy, Sandy disappeared from view, before the other Pokemon barely had time to move. Tenebrae and Lumen stared, the Eevee in surprise and the Ralts in anxiety. He had the creeping feeling he was going to be struck very soon.

And indeed, Sandy was tiptoeing across the surface of the pool, her movements leaving nary a ripple thanks to the shadowy curtain surrounding her. She didn’t even have to worry about sinking into the water. Within moments the Trapinch had reached Lumen’s side; with a chuckle she reappeared, and the Ralts reeled back with a cry of shock. Sandy took advantage of this by giving the hapless creature a savage bite wreathed with dark energy.

Lumen staggered, then gave Sandy a bop between the eyes to make her release his arm. Then he began to chant in a low voice, tracing lines in the air in front of him. His fingers left a trail of glowing lavender, and eventually Lumen sketched the skeleton of a box. Satisfied, he lowered his arms, then sent a powerful psychic signal at the curious structure. Like before, the lines suddenly burst outwards to encompass the area, except this time the lines collided with the ones already existing, causing both sets to vanish.

Underwater, Spooky felt a rush of vigour that could only mean that the Trick Room had been negated. Mumbling restlessly, the Gastly cast about for any spirits that might be willing to aid him in his battle – and as it turned out, there were quite a few. Grinning, he gave a shout, and immediately the sand whipping through the arena seemed to glow a dark purple. As the debris blew into Lumen’s body, vengeful specters leapt from the grains to claw at his skin. The Ralts yelled and tried to bat them away, but to no avail. In the end he resorted to turning his back to the wind so the spirits only had access to his slightly-sturdier back.

Tenebrae, on the other hand, heard only distant howls as his partner was ravaged by the Ominous Wind. Flying into a panic, the Eevee wavered slightly before tilting his head up to the ceiling and chanting fervently to Jirachi once more. Like before, the lighting dimmed slightly, and Tenebrae immediately brightened, confident that no-one could take him down when the gods were on his side.

And suddenly, there was a blazing trail of white and cream fur as the little cat-like Pokemon rushed forward so fast that the other Pokemon scarcely had time to blink. Tenebrae jumped from one platform to the next until he was within striking distance of Sandy. Then he leapt, his body aglow with white energy, and slammed into the Trapinch with such force that she was literally swept off her feet and into the pool. Sandy wailed and began thrashing, while Tenebrae flexed his shoulder and winced. The high-speed impact had formed a large bruise on his own body.

Spooky cackled a bit as he heard a smack and a cry, then abruptly stopped. Dark Pulse? His face contorted in confusion. It would hardly do anything when his target was above the surface. Nevertheless, he concentrated vindictive thoughts into a murky aura gathering around him – he was going to kill the little critter who undid his Trick Room – and let it fly once he could no longer contain it. As expected, the shadowy energy traveled a few feet before slowly fading away. A circular swath of bubbles floated up to the surface. The three Pokemon on the platforms above gaped, thinking that an ink blob had exploded somewhere in the depths of the pool.

Lumen, however, smirked as he realized that his target had just given away his location. He closed his eyes and delved into Spooky’s mind, prepared to cause some serious mental damage – hold on. In his haste, Lumen had overshot his target, instead ravaging the brain of some tiny, insignificant snail just behind where he was sure Spooky was. He let out a howl of outrage.

Meanwhile, Sandy was thrashing and wailing as she desperately fought her way back to the platform. She had been dumped roughly the same distance as before, but this time she didn’t have a Trick Room to aid her. Briefly she considered trying to execute her command, but the idea was quickly abandoned when she recalled the amount of concentration that was needed to keep herself in the dark realm. She’d probably sink to the bottom of the pool before she succeeded.

By now, Lumen had taken a deep breath and he reached out with his psychic powers once more, determined not to make another embarrassing miss. This time, he found his target, and with a grin invaded Spooky’s brain. The Gastly felt a tingle, and then his head felt like it was on fire as Lumen pounded, jabbed, and struck the pain sensors in the poor ghost’s brain with ruthless mercilessness. Spooky thought the agony would never end. Streams of bubbles floated up from his mouth as he screamed, and as his concentration broke he flickered back into view.

By now, Sandy had gotten about three quarters of the way to the nearest platform. Spooky watched his partner’s progress with dull eyes. After about half a minute, the antlion’s feet touched the edge – and she immediately vanished in a cloak of black. Hardly a moment passed before Lumen felt a searing pain in his side, made by teeth covered in dark energy. Sandy had ripped into his skin with grim satisfaction, though she couldn’t help but wish that it was Tenebrae he was hurting instead of Lumen.

Now that everyone had finished attacking, Spooky rose slowly out of the water, muttering all the while. He felt pretty horrible, and he wasn’t sure if he could stand another Psychic. But orders were orders. As his ghostly form left the pool, the light in the arena, again, dimmed. And again a sparkling silver star materialized from thin air and began to orbit Tenebrae like a glittering satellite, sprinkling white dust on the Pokemon’s body. Honestly, though, when the lighting returned to normal his body didn’t feel all that different; all that changed was that the bruise on his shoulder had disappeared.

Ironically, Tenebrae’s teammate needed healing much more. Lumen was covered in bruises, cuts, and burns of varying sizes, and the Curse that still gripped his spirit certainly didn’t do much to alleviate his problems.

Terrain notes
A sandstorm is raging through the arena, and will continue to do so for 2 rounds and 2 actions (8 actions). The Trick Room has dissipated. The platform Sandy is on is now rather wet.

Final notes
Grass King attacks first next round, due to the reversal of Trick Room.
Tenebrae’s combo took a little more energy because Quick Attack had to be sustained slightly longer.
Dark Pulse is, as I understand it, a pulse, so the target has to be at approximately the same level as the executor for it to take effect. Therefore the attack didn’t do damage.
Psychic rolled a 100, so it missed. You fickle RNG gods, you.
Sandy used up the 2nd action (and a little of the 3rd) to get back on a platform.
And I apply Sandstorm damage after the round is over, which is why Tenebrae is not at full health.

Okay Spooky, start off with a Destiny Bond on Ralts. Then Taunt him. I doubt you'll still be around, but if you are get him with a Shadow Ball.

Sandy, spawn Hidden Powers. If you can't use it for some reason, then use Giga Drain. If you're asleep, then use Sleep Talk. All at Eevee.

OK, Lumen use hypnosis on Sandy yet again. And then use psychic on Spooky. Now, you Tenebrae, use charm on Sandy and then use Quick Attack and Bite this time.

Though he was feeling faint and nauseous, Spooky was determined not to go down without a fight. The Gastly slowly began to rock from side to side, and his eyes solemnly drifted shut as he chanted incantations under his breath. The words weren’t spoken loudly, but they echoed eerily through the arena regardless. Lumen felt a painful chill run down his spine just as Spooky’s body broke out into a dark purple glow and two silvery discs appeared beneath him and the ghost, the circles connected by a trembling string of energy. Lumen shifted his feet uneasily. The strange loop was cold and swiftly numbed his feet, but otherwise it didn’t seem to do much at all.

Meanwhile, Tenebrae had hopped over to the same platform that Sandy was standing on. He nearly slipped on the slick surface, but managed to save himself from a particularly embarrassing plummet into the pool. Sandy clacked her jaws warily. The hostility in her expression slowly melted away, however, when Tenebrae began to ramble on about how she was totally amazing to have stood up to his combo attack, how great a fighter she was, how she just exuded pure awesomeness. Sandy raised an eyebrow. She was still bitter from the amount of suffering Tenebrae had caused her, but attacking him after being showered with compliments was… mean, to say the least.

Fortunately for her, it seemed like she wouldn’t have to attack Tenebrae in the near future – consciously, at least. An ungraceful noise sounded just to Sandy’s side, and the Trapinch whipped around to find Lumen sticking his tongue out at her. She hardly had time to yell indignantly before a weight descended on her eyelids. Sandy sputtered one last time as her eyes slipped shut and she fell into an unnatural sleep.

As soon as Sandy fell to the platform, though, she started muttering incoherently. Within a few seconds Tenebrae could feel the luxuriant fur around his neck being tugged by a strong wind, and he looked around to see a small hurricane skipping across the pool towards him. Before he could lift his paws to dash away, however, it was already upon him, buffeting him with gusts of wind and blowing grit into his eyes and various wounds. It was over fairly quickly, though.

Sandy collapsed back on the platform, but scarcely had time to settle into a comfortable position before Tenebrae slammed into her with a lightning-quick lunge. The antlion grumbled in pain, skittering dangerously close to the edge, as her assailant buried his teeth into her side.

Suddenly Spooky, floating in the middle of the pool, broke into a burbling chuckle. “Hey, mushroom head!” he called, and Lumen immediately whipped his head around to glare at the Gastly. “Ain’tcha supposed to be aiming at me? Stop hitting snails and antlions and get on with it! Or does that mushroom cap impede your vision that badly? Jeez, man, your taste of fashion is horrible.” Lumen fumed. Mushroom head! He looked nothing like a mushroom! Well fine, maybe a bit, but what right did a – a ball of gas have to mock him about it? Metaphorical steam gushed out of the Ralts’ ears.

Still fuming, Lumen practically leapt at the offending ghost with his entire psychic being and proceeded to clobber, press, and jab at Spooky’s brain – and other areas besides. He screamed, the sound long and drawn out. Just as Lumen started to lose his concentration, Spooky shuddered and became silent, and the Ralts puffed out his chest. That would teach the stupid thing. Just as the thought crossed his mind, the white disc still lurking beneath his feet seemed to explode, enveloping the humanoid Pokemon in a beam of white. The light pierced Lumen’s skin and drew his energy away, taking all he had to spare and more, and when it died down, he was sprawled on the platform, done in by the sudden exhaustion.

It seemed that Sandy was completely oblivious to the happenings in the arena. Even as Spooky and Lumen were drawn back into their respective Pokeballs, the antlion rolled on her side and snorted. The sound was unusually loud – in fact, it bordered on deafening – and the only other conscious Pokemon, Tenebrae, winced as his eardrums reverberated uncomfortably.

There was nothing the Eevee could do to retaliate, however, so he stood there, tense and ready for any oncoming attacks. Unfortunately for him, there was no way to guard against the Trapinch’s next technique. Sandy muttered a few garbled words and then suddenly vanished in a flash of black. Tenebrae hissed, having seen the attack many times before. An abrupt pain lanced through the Eevee’s tail and he spun around to see Sandy gnawing on his tail. Scowling, Tenebrae shook the antlion off and dipped his tail in the water to soothe the pain.

Ok, I guess we should try to get him into a knockout. First, use Shadow Ball, then use Toxic, then use Shadow Ball again, but, use toxic if it didn't hit on the second action. If he uses protect or the like, just do nothing seeing on how you can't chill.

Despite the fact that his paws were going numb from fatigue, Tenebrae focused some of his energy in front of his snout with only a twinge of resentment. The shadows in the room were drawn to the tiny point of light, liquid darkness slithering across tiles and through water to gather in a shivering, quivering ball of black-purple substance. Once it was just a bit smaller than Tenebrae’s head, he nudged it forwards, causing it to shoot towards Sandy at a startling speed. It struck her just behind her left shoulder, and with an unhappy wail the antlion’s eyes flew open. She glared around the room and was surprised to find that both Spooky and Lumen were nowhere to be seen. She then directed her glower at Tenebrae – he had to be the one responsible for all her new injuries. Some nice guy he was. She scowled, feeling her previous admiration melt away.

Though Sandy was quite eager to dig her teeth into Tenebrae’s fur, she forced herself to heighten her concentration. As she closed her eyes and breathed deeply, she was suddenly aware of every little thing going on in the arena: how the water sloshed at the sides of the pool; Tenebrae’s exhaustion, his laboured breathing; the trainers’ nervousness and desire for victory. Sandy opened her eyes and was startled by how clear her vision suddenly was.

Her newfound focus certainly did come in handy in the next few seconds, though, as Tenebrae abruptly started making strangled gargling noises. Sandy felt revulsion rolling off him in waves and caught an acrid whiff of toxins, and scrambled to the side even as the Eevee leaned over and spat the noxious potion he had just mixed in his mouth. It splattered uselessly on the platform, and Tenebrae frowned.

The Eevee’s frown turned into a horrified grimace when he turned around to see what his opponent was up to. Sandy had spread her legs apart evenly to brace herself against the floating platform while a great sphere of energy formed between her jaws, which had gone as wide as they could go. The sphere grew rapidly until it was even bigger than the Trapinch’s large head, and then it seemed to explode in a linear motion. A tide of orange-yellow power engulfed Tenebrae, and he screamed as it scorched his fur and seared his skin. After several seconds the wide beam narrowed into a thin, precise shaft. It was apparently still powerful, though, as the unlucky Eevee on the receiving end was gritting his teeth and tensing his entire body so he wasn’t pushed back. Eventually the remnants of the Hyper Beam died down to nothing but harmless cadmium orange flickers, and Tenebrae was left singed all over and with a particularly prominent dark patch in his thick ruff.

The cat-like Pokemon faltered as he caught his breath. He didn’t think Sandy was capable of launching such a damaging attack. His neck hurt especially badly – the energy seemed to have pierced through his fur to scorch the sensitive skin underneath. After rubbing at it for a few moments, wincing as several grains of sand dug their way into the deepest parts of the ruff, Tenebrae thought over his commands – hold on, Toxic again? He couldn’t win by trying the same move over and over again. It’d probably miss, and he’d have wasted another action. And Sandy would definitely laugh at that. Tenebrae grumbled under his breath as he debated on what to do.

Sandy ruthlessly took advantage of her opponent’s hesitation. Raising one foreleg, she brought it down hard on Tenebrae’s shoulder, causing him to squeal in pain and his leg to buckle. The Trapinch continued to thrash at the hapless Eevee’s body, but without the sting of a burn, the stiffness of paralysis, or the nausea of poison, Sandy found that her blows lacked real power. Eventually she stepped back, spent for the moment, while Tenebrae cringed and backed away a few steps.

Sandy woke up on the 1st action.
Toxic missed.
Hyper Beam was a critical hit.
Tenebrae couldn’t execute Toxic twice in a row due to Torment. Speaking of Torment, it will fade sometime in the next two rounds.
Also, I forgot that due to Hyper Cutter, Sandy’s attack couldn’t be lowered. The stats in this reffing have been adjusted to reflect that.

Okay Sandy, Flail like you mean it! If he successfully protects or detects, then use Sandstorm, Endure or Focus Energy depending on the action.

Ok, use Attract, then use Yawn, and finish it up with Frustration, or if you feel good, use Return.
