Arena: Dusky Bridge
A long, narrow, rickety old suspension bridge spanning the Eagle River, roughly long enough to take two actions to cross from one side to the other. The battle takes place in the middle of the bridge, with the trainers each positioned on opposing sides. A handrail will prevent Pokémon from falling or being knocked off. At the beginning of the third round, lightning will strikethe bridge, setting it on fire; Pokémon will have until the end of this round to escape the bridge to either end before it collapses, dumping any Pokémon still on it into the Eagle River. Anything that falls into the river cannot be reclaimed, so the Pokémon will be knocked out if this happens. The battle will then move to the cliffsides the bridge connected; if the Pokémon are on opposite sides, only projectile attacks will connect, and due to the distance they need to travel and the heavy snowfall obscuring the view across the canyon, these attacks' accuracy will be reduced by 25%. Alternatively, if they end up on the same side, obviously one will be very far away from their trainer and there is a 25% chance this Pokémon won't hear whatever commands it is given. On the sixth round, Godot and Detective Gumshoe will arrive to repair the bridge; anything that touches the bridge (accidentally or otherwise) between then and the time it is finished will cause Godot to throw a mug of scalding coffee at whoever touched it or used the attack that hit it, dealing 5% typeless damage, inflicting a burn, and reducing Defence by 1 level due to the cuts dealt by shattering china. By the ninth round, the bridge will be finished, and the events will repeat themselves from there onwards (lightning strike/bridge collapse on round 12, Godot and Gumshoe arrive on round 15, bridge is fixed on round 18, etc.)
Arena status: Pointed stones float around sreservoir's end of the bridge. A sandstorm is raging (8 more actions). The bridge has been fixed, and the battlers may attack from close range again.

-----

The referee sighs, feeling like it will be long time under the cold winds and annoying sand until he can grab the prize money for this match. Commands are issued once more.

At the beggining of the round, both battlers settled on the bridge, resting a spell, calmly, with their eyes closed... Until lightning struck the bridge, giving them both an awakening harsher than a rock beneath the pillow.

Pseudodino was the most terrified by the situation, as she had just awakened from her own hypnotic spell. she tried to cover distance quickly while twisting about as ordered, but had trouble doing it, as her foe had taken to slowing her down with an annoyingly cold breath that kept making her legs stiffer.

Eventually, she managed to clear away from the burning bridge -- by that time, she had already been put through enough Icy Wind exposure to be as damaging as a double attack. Seeing as the enemy got themselves out of range, Exabyte eagerly got the hell out of there as well, just barely (though unceremoniously) escaping in time.

From each cliffside, the battlers glared at each other hatefully as they caught their breath.

-----

The battle recommenced with the two battlers still glaring at each other from the separate cliffsides. They held this stance for a while, until Pseudodino tried to break the ice, hollering a steady stream of bile at her foe. But the attempt was proven futile, as revealed by the faint green glow that appeared near Exabyte's sound sensors, revealing the presence of Protect.

As the Porygon laid down on the snow and gave himself a long break, the Larvitar started looking for something. But, be it because of her fatigue, be it because of a genuine lack thereof, she could find no truly suitable props for her upcoming manouver easily within reach. Grumbling, she dug through the layer of snow to access the rocky surface underneath. When that was exposed, she followed up by, to the surprise and amusement of those on the other side of the chasm, rolling and rubbing against the ground. Little did they know, the filing made the Rock-type's armor smoother and more streamlined.

Afterwards, sreservoir's Pokémon glared at her target menacingly, and, with a leap... Settled down for a rest. With a sigh, the referee waited a few seconds, then ended the round.

-----

Pseudodino opened the round eagerly, seeming to be excited about the extra aerodynamism of her hide that she was about to put in action. First things first, she remembered well about how much her foe enjoys spamming one certain speed deducting move. The proper solution was, of course, set up a decoy to take the fall for those deductions. With emphasis on making it faster than usual -- perhaps too hastily, even -- sreservoir's Pokémon assembled a snowman of striking similarity to herself, to which the debris on the wind started sticking in no time. Just a little bit of life force channeled in, and it was ready for its duty: Sap cold gales.

Those were not yet to come, however, as the folks on the other side of the Eagle River also seemed to embrace the idea of extra speed. But, rather than just sprint around like an illogical organism, Exabyte simply did a little housekeeping within its systems, speeding its processes up.

At one point, the Porygon started hearing loud foreign noise, and decided to shift its attention into that. It was its enemy's voice, dropping brazen statements about its relative lack of velocity. After all the effort it had put into lightening the load, too. It couldn't help but fly into a chilly, wind-blowing rage, complete with cybernetic yelps announcing the supposed equalization of the speeds.

That would never be, though; the rage of the programming code Pokémon stunted its aiming skills, which would be vital for those circumstances. There was not much for the attacks' target to do but put on even more scoffing as the streams of snow just passed along the sides.

On the other hand, the Larvitar would not be able to retain the rights to mockery for much longer. Her next command was to drop a curse on that stupid move, hopefully shutting it away from use. However, the opponent's speed might still be inferior, but it wasn't inconsiderable, and it got that much harder to aim properly through the grid of sharp stones and the lenghty chasm. Ultimately, the only outcome was wasted energy.

-----

At that point, the arrival of the overcoated man and the masked man was becoming so routinely, it gained absolutely no attention from those involved in the battle. After all, by that point, it had been dragging on for so long, the trainers were very focused on finding a way of coming out on top.

Exabyte started the round booting icethemmothafuckas.frz, allowing it to utilize Ice-type attacks. This time, it had to stick with a simple, yet potent cold ray. It took aim... But looked away just before the fireoff, and wound up hitting one of the floating rocks instead. The frozen stone pitifully fell off into the Eagle River and was carried away by the currents effortlessly.

Meanwhile, behind the pointy barrier, Pseudodino felt that she was done resting and it was time to fire off some insults. However, she found that she wasn't particularly inspired at that moment, and had to resort to things like "meanie". Oddly, a few seconds after her botched name-calling barrage, she started to hear similar affronts directed toward her.

-----

A trainer's psychological state can affect that of a Pokémon. This is true even for the computer creatures that compose the Porygon line. So, when its trainer decided to toss the towel and make no particular attempt to circumvent the rough situation, Exabyte picked up on the attitude. It felt ready to not give a damn about the lack of remaining energy. That its foe was again spewing bile from across the Eagle River was only even more stimulus. It eagerly drew upon as much as it could from its weakened batteries to produce a flurry of star-shaped rays. Even with many beams ending up stopped by the Stealth Rock, Pseudodino's Substitute was not spared of damage.

The real Pseudodino was also in a state of not caring. But it wasn't the same not caring as her enemy's. It was a not caring about the battle or the Substitute, and just lying down on the snowy mountain field, conserving energy for what she felt would be an upcoming challenge.

The shattering of the Larvitar's Substitute ironically signaled the point when the Porygon shut off, quietly closing its eyes and letting out a battery-related warning before collapsing into the thick layer of snow.

The defeated Pokémon was solemnly recalled after a long fight, and it was time for the next course of action to be decided.

Much as I hate to base my strategy around the first Taunt happening to miss, we're going to start with a Calm Mind; since Taunt messes with its target's mood it should be pretty hard to pull off against a Pokémon under the effects of Calm Mind. Then use Psychic twice. Use Psychic on the first action as well if Tunt gets through though, and switch to Psybeam on the third action if you get Tormented, but I don't see a Toxic getting across that canyon.

The bridge has burned out and collapsed; thus, Pokémon must attack each other with projectiles. Gumshoe and Godot have arrived at the scene and are fixing the bridge.

The fight's then newest sendout was eagerly mooning over the night sky by the time she came out. Which one was that again? Harvest moon, or hunter's moon? Regardless, it was the kind of sight you only get to see once in a blue moon. Usually the sky is always so covered by smog and clouds, the full moon never gets to work its way into the eyes beneath it.

Soon, her opponent would appear to be the talkative type. Challenging her to a moonwalk, then rolling on the floor laughing. Cruithne was seriously not amused by the joke at all, and in fact found it kind of stupid. She was really not amused, however, when her newfound foe got around to calling her a lunatic. That one struck a nerve. Does she think she hung the moon or something?

She immediately tried to retaliate, putting her psionic powers to use; however, be it by virtue of moon-blindness or just the fact it's hard to weave around a wall of floating rocks, the signal missed the target's mind by a long shot.

When Pseudodino managed to fire a purple blob with surprising accuracy -- even for herself -- the Tsuki could do little but cast a moon-eyed stare as the toxic goop worked its way into her bloodstream.

As the pain kicked in, the lunar Pokemon became increasingly moonstruck. She was going to land the goddamn Psychic in, and she was going to do it yesterday. Or, better put, last night. This time, her accuracy was dead-on; she delivered the moonraking shot very much the way she intended.

At that point, her foe got talkative again, but, it seemed like she was just talking moonshine. Without paying any attention to the words, the Psychic-type once more did her thing. The telekinetic blast was even more effective that time around; the repeated attacks seemed to be causing more lasting manners of damage to the Larvitar's psyche.

- Toxic's accuracy roll rolled a fricking one.
- The last Psychic lowered Pseudodino's Special Defense.
- Zoroark attacks first next round.

Some of those moon puns were pretty cheesy.

Use Confusion on the first action to conserve energy. When your Taunt wears off, put her to sleep and then devour her energy. Keep trying Hypnosis if it misses. If your Taunt is renewed, use Psybeam and then another Confusion.

Confusion ~ Hypnosis/Psybeam ~ Hypnosis/Dream Eater (energy)/Confusion

I'd point out how hard these commands are going to fail, but at this point I think that's a given.

MOON!

I keep forgetting that everything is on the other side. :(

make a small substitute to exploit that suspicious gap in Cruithne's commands. then delay your action enough to mimic hypnosis, and taunt cruithne again. if this all goes horribly wrong and you fall asleep, just sleep talk for a while; if it becomes impractical for whatever reason, then just chill.

It was time to recommence the battling. Cruithne had trouble seeing her opponent because of all the distance and the floating rocks, but she felt like she was on the driver's seat for this match, and she intended for it to stay that way.

She started the round firing off a powerful mind-screwing signal. It struck accurately into... A pile of snow that Pseudodino had sculpted into roughly her shape and given a bit of lifeforce. But that was pretty hard to see, and the Tsuki thought she had hit her opponent dead-on again.

The next few attacks weren't quite as successful. It's hard to fire right at the eyes as Hypnosis requires when there's a whole Eagle River of distance getting on the way, while a curtain of flying stones didn't quite help either.

While focusing on getting the attack right, Cruithne took no time to look at what her opponent was doing. Didn't notice her picking up on the methods of firing off Hypnosis, and didn't notice her trying to smack talk some more. Of course, the latter relied on being noticed, so, it wasn't all bad.

With the end of round, the overcoated man and the masked man separated ways again. The bridge was in one piece, once more. The trainers already expected that not to last, but it was nice to have it around for a while, at least.
