The Pokemon fandom makes me very sad sometimes. It's changed so much from how it was when I first started in 2003; everyone seems so much snarkier now, and people are mean for no reason at all. It seems that bothering to be polite only makes you a doormat, and nice people finish last.
Well, when I made my website, I wanted it to be nice. I had the highest of hopes for it. I loved it very much, so much that I almost cried when I found out it was temporarily offline in 2006. However, I didn't know if anyone else liked it. Nobody ever posted about it. It had its limitations, which I tried to overcome by making more and more content. I still felt that my site was insignificant, unoriginal, and nobody would care about it if it was gone.
I decided to search for 'critter cryptics' on Google. I saw a lot of old posts that brought memories back; I saw that people complimented me for the originality of my pages, some people wanted to affiliate with me, and it seemed that overall reception was positive. I cringed looking at my old posts on the invisionfree forum for TCoD (wow, I was so... different), but it was really nice to see that everyone liked it and the only thing most people didn't like (the layout) was something I would have happily changed if I could have. I went through the guestbook and saw a lot of people thinking that my site was original and great (and spam, but whatever). I even came across Moonlight Cavern's forum, and I wanted to cry because I had tried to contact the webmaster, Pocketmouse, a week earlier and her e-mail wasn't working.
I was mostly just wading in old memories until I found this. I don't know much about this website. I'm quite certain that it's dead. However, if you look in the 'awsome sites' section of the navbar, you'll see they linked to my site and called it 'ttly an awsome site'.
Normally, I would weep for the terrible spelling, but I was so happy that someone thought my website was 'ttly an awsome site'. Really, I think it's one of the nicest things anyone has said about my site, especially since this person put it up on the page without any indication from me. I've never met this person, and probably never will, but that little comment has made my day, and it inspires me to keep on rebuilding my site because there are people who do like it. :)
