Rants are nice when they get published twice

Last night, I wrote a rant on why I want a Zelda movie, and sent it to the site I work for. Woke up today and found not only did my main news source publish it, but another site did too.

You'll find it here and here

Haha, that's awesome :D
I really like your article; I think that, if done correctly, a Zelda movie could be very cool. But it could be done very, very badly, too.

Congratulations! However... a Zelda movie would be terrible. Mostly because

a) it would undoubtedly get ruined by Uwe Boll or some such

b) the plot of the games isn't at all suited to be adapted for a movie. every game has the same plot: collect x number of magical item in x number of dungeons, then fight ganon and rescue the princess. there are no important subplots, and not much in the way of characterization. virtually the entire framework for the plot is backstory about hte sages or whatever. so, either the whole movie would consist mostly of long, boring, pointless scenes where link just hacks and slashes his way through the forest area, then the fire area, then the water area, and finally through ganon's castle, and also some other pointless scenes where the Great Elder tells Link about how the Seven Sages lifted the Seven Seals seven hundred years ago to trap Ganon, and now he has broken free OR the screenwriters would be forced to come up with a completely different plot unrelated to the games. which begs the question:

c) why would you even want a Zelda movie? the Zelda series isn't that unique in terms of setting or plot, any other fantasy epic would serve just about as well for a movie. the plot and setting of the Zelda series were meant for an optimal game experience, and turning those elements into a cinematic experience would just suck. either you'd have to change everything about the games, making the movie indistinguishable from some generic fantasy series, or deal with a really sucky movie.

Wait, you write for Monstervine? Wow, that's awesome. I want to be a journalist. =/
