Alright, my friend wants to prove that he can beat me in Pokemon, and so he's challenged me to a battle. He's the type of person who uses all sweepers, though, so just to piss him off I'm planning to use a stall team which abuses entry hazards. I've got about 4 Pokemon so far, but I'm sort of stuck on who else to add. Suggestions and critique would be awesome.
Azelf @Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spd
Naughty/Naive nature (+Atk, -SDef/+Spd, -SDef)
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Psychic
- U-Turn/Flamethrower
My lead. Focus Sash is to ensure that it survives long enough to set up Stealth Rock, which is its basic role of the team. Then, Explosion if the other Pokemon looks like it's going to be a threat, or stay in and deal some damage with Psychic. I'm debating on whether I should use Flamethrower or U-Turn for that last slot - either Flamethrower for coverage (I'm avoiding Fire Blast because I dislike moves with less than 100% accuracy), or U-Turn to get the little pixie's butt out of there. If I go with U-Turn, I'll go with Naughty, but if I go for Flamethrower I'll go for Naive. The reason I'm considering Naughty is because my friend typically doesn't use really high-speed sweepers, anyway.
Vaporeon @Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Acid Armour
- Baton Pass
- ???
Alright, I'm not too sure about the EVs on this little dude. I need the defense EVs to ensure that it doesn't die while I'm trying to Wish or Batom Pass some defense, but I also need the HP to ensure more survivability. I figure that Vaporeon can absorb hits better than most of the others can, so I'm thinking of making it a slower variation, though I'm paranoid that it'll get KO'd as a result. And I'm not sure about that last moveslot - I want an offensive move, so common sense would just scream 'Surf', but another Pokemon on my team already has it, and the team I have right now doesn't have the greatest coverage.
Basically, I use Vaporeon for support, to heal other teammates since most lack healing moves, as well as pass defense boosts since most are geared more towards special walling.
Roserade @???
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/152 SDef/100 Spd
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Spikes
- Grass Knot
- Sleep Powder
- ???
No idea what to put as the item, and I'm rather shaky on the EVs here, as well.
So, this Pokemon is meant to set up Spikes as well as immobilize one Pokemon while it's at it. Depending on the situation, I may Baton Pass the Acid Armour boosts to Roserade to help it push through some attacks. After that, either sweep or switch out - I'll probably sweep. However, I'm pretty clueless on what to put in that last slot. Actually, I may omit Sleep Powder as well and slap a Life Orb on Roserade.
Suicune @Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 Spd
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Calm Mind
- Roar
- Surf
- Ice Beam/HP Electric
Not the best nature, I know, but I had already EV trained it before I remembered to check the nature. Go me, eh? Well, to compensate, I have Vaporeon to pass defense boosts, as mentioned before. I'm planning to use the classic Calm Mind shuffle strategy with this, to abuse Stealth Rock and Spikes. Not sure about that last slot, either; leaning towards Ice Beam, though once again, there is the problem of coverage.
Aaand there you have it. I'm probably going to tack on two sweepers to round this team off, since it's lacking in the offensive department. Needs more coverage, as well, so I'm thinking... a fire-type and and electric-type - Electivire, maybe, to take advantage of electricity bait?
