• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

The Crossroads

Eonrider

Will be online more, I swearz!
The loud rythmic beat of the helicopter's rotors fills your ears as it descends upon one of the stranger places in the Pokemon World (and there are a lot of strange places, so that's saying something). As you look out below you, you see a vast desert stretching out for miles. What's so strange about that? you wonder, and then, as you look to the right, there is a... thriving rainforest? You don't have time to wonder about this however, as the helicopter lands on a helipad right in the middle of where the two completely different enviroments meet. As you you turn around, you notice more different enviroments, a river, a frozen wasteland, and more! As you walk towards the main building, a man comes out and approaches you. "Hello, there, and welcome to the Crossroads!" he says. "Here we have a variety of enviroments here for you to explore, and it's all completely unmanmade! There are still some enviroments under exploration, so expect to see some new ones sometime soon! Anyway, let me show you the areas that are open. By the way, admission is $3."

The Rainforest
"Ah, yes this is one of my personal favourites, you'll probobly like it, too, unless you're one of those bugaphobic people."
Discovered Species:
SeedotPinecoTropiusSunkernOddishWurmpleBellsprout
"We think there are still more, though..."

The Desert
"I imagine you saw this one on the way in, hmmm? Not the most lively place, but you can find some pretty cool stuff, though."
Discovered Species:
BaltoyCacneaShuckleHippowdonSpearowSandshrewGeodudeGrumpigBronzorSpindaHippopotasNumelRaticateCubone
"Again, we're sure there are more, they just don't want to show themselves to our exploration team, that's all."

The Glacier
"This one's a bit like the desert, only colder and snowier."
Discovered Species:
SwinubSnoruntSneaselSwabluSphealPoliwagShellder
"There are more, we just haven't seen them yet."

The River
"This is a nice spot to kick back, relax... and go for a fish! Just remember, Mummy Gyarados don't like it if you eat their kiddies. Oh yes, if you're going to go fishing, you're going to need a fishing rod. It's $2 for one, and you can't catch anything without it"
Discovered Species:
LuvdiscSlowpokeMarillCarvanhaPoliwag
"Our fishermen aren't known for their skill, so there are probably more."

The City
"While our explorers were adventuring in the desert, they got lost and had to find shelter. They found this city. There are no more people here, but lots of Pokemon. Probably abandonned house pets. Don't worrry, it's not radioactive. Probably."
Discovered Species:
PoochyenaVoltorbMunchlaxGrimerMuk
"Our explorers were more focussed on getting found rather than doing the finding, so I'm sure there are more."

The Mountain
"The mountain is at the edge of the rainforest. It's a harsh climb, but there are a lot of powerful Pokemon up there. It's dangerous up there, lots of cliffs and the like."
Discovered Species:
AbraAronRioluNidoranMFearowGravelerArbok
"Our explorers were supposed to be exploring the rainforest when they found this, so they couldn't climb high to find more Pokemon."

Deciding that warm clothes are not for you (even though the lessen your chance of being forced out), you venture into the wasteland. After some walking, you find a male Swinub munching on some grass poking above the snow. Take him or leave him?

You too trek into the snowy wilderness, also deciding to try your luck without any warm clothes. This is a desicion you soon regret, as, unlike Verne, your muscles do NOT protect you and your teeth are chattering so much it's probably scaring away the wild Pokemon. All except one, that is. A bold female Sneasel dares to venture closer. Take her or leave her?

EDIT: Changed something involving the Frozen Wasteland.

Leaving the Swinub peacefully mucnching his grass, you wander on. The cold is starting to get to you now, and you start to shiver. All of a sudden the chattering of your teeth harmonizes with another sound. Tap, tap, tap. You realize that you are walking over a frozen sea and the tapping must be a Pokemon coming up from underneath. Soon enough that Pokemon is discovered to be a female Piplup Take her or leave her?

You throw a Pokeball at the Sneasel and capture her. Do you wish to keep moving? (You can still send out Magby, just put a profile link so I know it exists)

Deciding to try the other extreme, you venture out into the desert. It's quite windy and the sand is starting to get into your eyes and be annoying. Through the haze of sand and your watering eyes, you think you can make out a Pokemon. Yes, yes you can, it's a male Cacnea Take him or leave him?

During the seconds needed for the Piplup to take a breath, you toss your Pokeball. It hits her square in the head, and absorbs her. Keep going or leave now?

Sighing at your find of a Pokemon of the wrong gender, you continue on. The sandstorm is really starting to get annoying now, but luckily there's a cliff and an overhang that should shelter you for a while. While resting, you hear small pebbles tumbling down from just above. You look up, and there, looking down at you is a Burmy-Ground It's male. Take him or leave him?

Happy with your capture of the Sneasel, you continue on, sending out your Magby to join the fun. Your Magby is warm, and you rest your hand on his head as the blizzard rages around you and you can feel him sharing his warmth with you. Awww. Anyway, as you continue on in this barren wasteland, you think you can see someone dancing in the snow. Wondering who it could be, and why, you venture closer, which reveals it to be a Jynx! She's female, and she hasn't seen you yet. Take her or leave her?
(Please take Sneasel out of your proflie, it's not actually confirmed that you have her until you safely leave the area)

You throw a Pokeball at Burmy and capture him. Continuing, you are about to leave the shelter of the overhang, when you catch a movement out of the corner of your eye. A metal plate is detatching itself from where it was embedded. *gasp!* It's a Bronzor! Take it or leave it?

Sighing at how baaad you're doing, you leave the Bronzor where it is, and leave the shelter of the overhang. You are quickly blasted by the sandstorm and wish you'd stayed where you were. But you have to find a good Pokemon. Through the sandstorm, you can see a trail of raised earth moving towards you. You've already guessed what it it is by the time it pops up. Yep, it's a Diglett A male. Take him or leave him?

Satisfied with your capture of the Piplup, you continue on. It's really starting to get cold now, but you are confident in your muscles and keep on keepin' on. Soon you come across the same area where coolking49 found the Sneasel. And lo and behold! You find one too! A female Sneasel! Take her or leave her?
