Before you read this, you must know.... It's quite un-Pokemon related. If that's not what you wanted, too bad. Scram.
And just to clarify, yes, the main character is a girl. Just because I'm a guy doesn't mean all my main characters have to be. I'm not sure if it will be as confusing to you guys, but my friend thought it was a dude until the end where she was referred to as a miss, so I'm just clearing that up. And so we go!
The pale moon shined down on the quaint little town of Miracle. Why it was named that (or its origins entirely) was unclear. The name though, it was ironic. Truly, Miracle was a town in need of a miracle.
When I was born into the town of Miracle, it was the happiest place ever. The adobe buildings seemed inviting, and always seemed to be smiling at you. The golden sun beat down and put a joyous dress on the place. Palm trees rose from the ground, dancing in the sunlight. The blue ocean waves rolled around serenely, and everyone was always happy.
Everything happened over time, so I never really paid much attention. But slowly, the sky got a little less blue, the homes looked a little more like shelters, the water seemed a little murkier. And one day, I stepped outside and took it all in. This was not the town I was born in.
It had a murky white sky, with a sun that was pale and barely provided light. The palm trees were no more, and were replaced by skinny, bare elms. The structures that once seemed warm and inviting seemed like cold traps that people went into to eat and sleep. The ocean was nasty and muddy, and it rained almost every day. How had I been so foolish not to recognize this early on?
The town was dying- the people in it were growing old or moving away, and no one really appreciated it. It used to be one of those beautiful, resort-like places, but no one knew about it. It was almost as if the feng-shui had been thrown off.
The moon only shone for a minute, though, before ugly rain pounded down an obstructed it from view. I should have known- this place wasn’t really in shape to show something that pretty anymore.
I turned away from the window and got back from my book. It was a little sad to me that it took me until I was twenty-one to start reading the Harry Potter series, but it was better than nothing.
I probably would’ve read it sooner if my friends had told me about it. The only problem with that is I haven’t had a solid friend since middle school. Since then, everyone has been leaving, and people are just people now. Socializing is not really something that ever occurred to me to do.
“At school, Harry had no one. Everybody knew that Dudley's gang hated that odd Harry Potter in his baggy old clothes and broken glasses, and nobody liked to disagree with Dudley's gang.” This book was pretty boring so far, I don’t know what all the huzzah was about. I set it down, my finger at the page I left off, but I found myself not caring and slipped it out.
That was when I got a knock on the door. “Ms. Ariel, open up!” The door pounded, and I feared it might collapse under the powerful thuds. Eventually, they got the idea to actually use the doorknob and they burst in.
It was odd, how the two intruders were dressed. First off, they were wearing black padding on their entire bodies. They had white masks that looked like they were from a Shakespearian play, and they carried bulky, black guns that would probably kill someone if you dropped it on their foot.
“We have a few questions for you, Ms. Ariel,” one of them boomed. Before I could even ask who they were or why they were in my house, the other guy held up an official looking badge. “We’re from the Agency of American Secrets. We’re here to ask you a few questions.”
Yes, that is part of my story.... I will continue if you feel it's needed, but if you don't, I'll just keep writing and leave the rest stored away in my folder, collecting dust. That is all.
