• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

D/P/Pt [UU/NU]Ohhey, I can actually MAKE a bloody team now

Thorne

It's feeding time
I finally got myself Action Replay, rendering make a competitive team so much easier it's not even funny. But I still thought I'd start out easily and make a UU/NU team before trying to go into the danger zone that is the OU.

Gardevoir
Held Item: Leftovers
Ability: Trace
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP / 48 SpA / 176 SpD / 32 Spe
-Will-O-Wisp
-Wish
-Psychic
-Thunderbolt
Oh how I surprised now, didn't I?
Okay really I've been wanting to use Gardevoir, and I thought it'd work as a support 'mon. Will-O-Wisp any physical attackers that get too close, Wish when health gets low or when the team needs it, and attack when the need arises. Trace is a very useful yet very situational ability, being able to get such things as Flash Fire, Levitate, Water Absorb, or Volt Absorb. Getting Intimidate is also highly useful, somewhat crippling physical attackers.

Toxicroak
Held Item: Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Cross Chop
-Sucker Punch
-Stone Edge
Dry Skin is a useful ability, allowing Toxicroak to switch in on Water-types trying to attack a certain other 'mon I'll get to soon. Swords Dance quickly and we're good to go, hit things, and most of them will be pretty hurt, while anything switched-in that tries to punish my frog with Fire or Psychic attacks are to be countered by her best buddy..

Houndoom
Held Item: Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Nasty Plot
-Fire Blast
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power Flying
..Whom is no other then this fellow, Since it completely blocks both Fire and Psychic attacks I'll have a free turn to set up my Nasty Plot while my opponent (hopefully) tries to change into a fitting counter. As said, Houndoom and Toxicroak will work hand-in-hand, switching in on each other's counter, scarring it away, hopefully setting up and then hitting anything that comes in on them.

Weezing
Held Item: Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Will-O-Wisp
-Pain Split
A physical wall in general, really. Your standard Weezing, too. While he might not like Psychic moves, Houndoom is there to save him.

Probopass
Held Item: Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 168 SpD / 88 Spe
-Stealth Rock
-Thunder Wave
-Earth Power
-Flash Cannon
Oh dear god I'm using this giant rock-of-no-good. While his weaknesses are severe, he can pretty much, without problem, change into any of his team-mates if he needs to get his butt out of the situation. Oh no, an enemy with x4 Fighting and Ground moves? Go into Weezing. Fire moves? Houndoom goes in with no problem. Need some health? Gardevoir Wishes you luck.
Either way, this moustachio can prove to be annoying. Stealth rock is highly useful in pretty much any situation, and Thunder Wave can be used directly after just in case anything think it would like to Rapid Spin it away as quickly as possible. Earth Power can also hit some switch-ins, mostly the fire-type ones trying to scare him away, getting STAB off Flash Cannon can be useful, but Power Gem is also an option, really.

Tangrowth
Held Item: Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spe
-Sleep Powder
-Power Whip
-Knock Off
-Leech Seed
I wanted something that resisted Water, so this is my choice. Very few 'mons like getting their items knocked off, and at times it can completely cripple some of them. Sleep Powder is pretty much a given, being useful to render anything that switches in I predict Tangrowth won't be able to handle, and Power Whip hurts, a lot. Leech Seed can slowly sap away health, and the fact that it adds to the health of my active 'mon do a little more then help.

Alrighty then, I'm not sure which one to start the battles with, although I think Probopass is useful for that. I would appreciate criticism and suggestions and all that stuff.

There seems to be a lot of type synergy between your chosen 'mons which could work really well. One thing that you might want to change is your lead. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that Gardevoir is an asset to the team and is your star Pokemon but I don't think it will function to its full potential as a lead.

Firstly, it is susceptible to the highly popular U-Turn which could to a fair amount. You don't want Gardevoir to lose too much health since it carries your only reliable source of healing.

Secondly, Gardevoir's ability can't be put to full use if it is a lead. Trace, as you point out, is very useful for switching into attacks and can allow Gardevoir to gain an advantage if the opponent doesn't see it coming. Unfortunately, if you use it as a lead then you lose this surprise factor.

I'm not saying you have to change the order - people will probably expect you to have Gardevoir in your team anyway due to your name - but it's just a suggestion.

To begin with, WHY DIDN'T THIS COMMENT APPEAR I MEAN REALLY

Secondly, I was kinda thinking of using Probopass as a lead, as I could start with Stealth Rock if the situation allowed it or just make like a tree and get the heck out.
