• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Would anyone be interested in ASB in 2025?

So this category on the forums has been one I sort of just looked at for 5 minutes then never read again...

However, I decided to actually read some of the stuff here, and the whole ASB thing does look pretty fun (however the last thing to happen here was like 5 years ago so it is pretty "dead") which is... exactly why I'm posting this thread!!!

Pretty much I'm just wondering if anyone would be interested in having a battle or refereeing anytime soon because I would like to try this and perhaps someone else would like to as well...... maybe......

Let me know if you are interested!!!!

Also if an admin is reading this, could you please validate my account since I think the automatic validation stuff is broken?
Update: Thanks to whoever validated my account!

(sorry if this is difficult to read i kept rewriting parts of it lol)

Had a look at the rules and bought some stuff, I think I'll be ready for battles now.

Hey guys! This is Altinator and I was once a diehard Pokémon fan. Back in the 2010s, I was a prominent member of the ASB community in Serebii when ASB was still running really well. I was once a trainer who wanted to transition into becoming a referee after seeing how the ref in charge of my battles didn’t effectively bring out the creative narrative that many of us, ASB fans, were looking for. They were more focused on the rules and mechanics of how the battles were managed while attempting to mingle the “anime” aspect of battling.

I applied to become a ref, myself, but they rejected my application after disliking my referee style because I “didn’t understand the rules and mechanics of being a referee.” I had a more anime realistic based approach where I picture how the battles would go based on both trainers’ imaginative projections for how they want their moves to be executed in my mind. I would then create a narration of that “turn,” taking everything the anime does into account, including the physics, the current situation, the environment, etc., making a more realistic and non-biased outcome that forces the trainers to think like you’re actually in the Pokémon anime battling against another opponent. Apparently Serebii didn’t like that style.

If y’all are truly serious about reviving the ASB community, I would be more than happy to be among the first full-time volunteer referees to bring the magic back to those who lost it.
