Closed X: The step into other worlds

Starlight glared up at him angrily.
"So be it." she turned to Deax, " I have no time to waste fighting you. I have been ordered to find out what is wrong with him, without killing him. However, should you get in my way, I will not hesitate to kill you." with that, she too ran to the northwest, doing her best to keep as out of sight as possible.

"Yes, one other thing." Spirit replied, "Not only was it triggered by Opal, when she turned back to normal she hadn't transformed all the way. She was missing the scars all over her face and the remainder of the white hair."
"So I see..." Darkness muttered, "Anything you can discern from her memories?"
"Yes. It seems Opal is in league with that purple-haired girl, and that Berserk side of Zora will stop at nothing to kill them both."
 
Rhythm landed in a clearing, but nothing stirred.
"Hmph. Nothing." He turned around, only to hear Starlight dashing through the trees.
"Ah, Spirit's sister. What say we head back to the hospital, hm?"

Raiquen jumped up, ripping Aidan's hand off of his mouth.
"Purple-haired girl? And who's this Opal?"
"Owowowow...." Aidan moaned, holding his own hand in pain.
 
"Well, are you feeling any better? You don't seem any different other than the dark aura, so..." Starlight muttered, "I suppose we should go back."

Spirit turned to him.
"Never you mind, I'll explain later, because it's a very long story. Also, I'm receiving confirmation from Starlight that Rhythm is in fact just fine."
"That's a good thing. Is there anything else you can determine about this?"
"Nothing, except that it exhausts her," she nodded at the sleeping redhead, "just to be in that form for the duration of a battle. But that much is obvious."
 
"I don't SEEM different." Rhythm pointed out, and he dashed through the trees towards the hospital, his maniacal laugh echoing through the forest. He reached the hospital doors and looked down at his now-black jacket. There was a small rip in it.
"Aw man. Whatever." He walked into the hospital. Raiquen looked up.
"What the hell?" He muttered, looking at Rhythm's new attire and strong dark aura.
 
"Spiriiiiiiiiit..." Zora moaned, her eyes still shut tight, "Get your hand off my foreheeeaaaaaaaaad..."
"Poor thing." Darkness sighed, turning to Rhythm, "What happened to you? You look so... different..."
 
Rhythm smiled his maniacal smile again.
"I always looked like this. Don't you remember, Darkness?"
"Hell, I don't remember." Aidan muttered.
"I wasn't asking you."
 
"No you didn't, no matter how much you try and deny it. Look, I can prove it." she held up a picture of him that had fallen out of Zora's back pocket. Spirit held up a mirror to him.
"Compare. Spirit, at the ready."
"I am, Darkness."
Now, those who hadn't talked in a while, namely Cyndra, Hera and Kirita, all watched with interest.
Except Kirita, who had fallen asleep.
 
Deax ran back to the hotel.

You're different! she snarled.

She pounced on him yet again, baring her teeth, trying to rip flesh off of him.
 
Rhythm managed to stay upright when Deax pounced. He put his arms under her and pushed off.
"Deax, what's gotten into you?"
"What's gotten into you, Rhythm?" Aidan asked, standing up.
 
Rhythm blinked, then looked at his arm.
"What are you talking about? My arm's fine. White coat, no aura." To Aidan, however, it looked like he still had the aura and black coat.
"Either I'm going nuts or you're lying."
"Probably the first." Rhythm said.
 
"It's there Rhythm. Whether you can see it or not." Darkness lifted a camera and snapped a shot. When it came up on the screen, she showed it to him.
"See?"
"Yeah, it's there, very strongly." Spirit muttered.
 
Rhythm blinked when the camera snapped a picture. He shook it off and looked at the picture. After a few seconds, he looked astonished.
"Dude. My hair's messed up." He said, attempting to flatten it down. At that moment, Melody walked in and stretched.
"Ah. Feeling much better." She looked towards Rhythm and blinked.
"Why is everyone crowding around him?"
 
"OK, that ain't going to work." Spirit mumbled, "Starlight! You know what to do. Remember the last time?"
"Yeah, I remember it." With that, Starlight grabbed his shoulder and allowed the aura to slink up her arm as if she were absorbing it.
 
Rhythm watched for a moment, then noticed something on his arm and shook out of Starlight's grip.
"Now you're making an aura appear!" He yelled, looking down at his arm. He sighed, relieved, because to him it looked like he was normal again.
"No, she was taking it away, Rhythm." Aidan muttered.
"Sure as hell looked like she was making it appear." Melody said.
 
"Rhythm, trust me. You look odd to all of us, except apparently Melody. This is the honest truth." Starlight explained, "If you just let me do this, it'll be over in less than 30 seconds. When I placed my hand on you, it made the aura visible to you too. That's why it looked like I made it appear."
"Please trust us." Spirit sighed.
 
Rhythm sighed, crossing his arms and looking down. After thinking about it for a long time, he looked up.
"How...do you know that I'm Rhythm?" He asked, letting the maniac smile creep over his face again.
 
Suddenly, Deax's eyes glowed red. She was in wolf form. Suddenly, a human came out of the body. Deax's body lay limp.

"Hello Sephii, Raiquen, Kirita and company." she laughed.
