• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    2012 US Presidential Election

a thought: while plurality systems do tend to favor two-party systems, there are exceptions (canada, india, and if I understand correctly, the uk). it'd take way-more-people not feeling like voting third party equals their voice being wasted, but: it's not hopeless forever.

Circumcision. Religious freedom or inhumane torture?

Tradition doesn't provide sufficient justification for allowing people to perform unnecessary surgery on people without getting consent.

    R/B/Y Death of R/B/Y

You could always trade them to gold, swap in a new battery, then trade them back onto a new file. It's not *quite* the same as just having the old file forever, but it's also not quite as definite as "physical rby is over"?

    What are you reading? II

Could you elaborate re: difficulty? I used bits of Gender Trouble in a paper recently and found it information-dense, but not confusing, and hearing this has me wondering if I was somehow managing to read it superficially.

?. We have a professor who was pals with Gary Gygax. He's got a bunch of his stuff, and occasionally walks around with his waraxe and wizard hat.

FUCK SOPA & PIPA! (Say goodbye to Freedom of Speech, guys!)

Obama, at this time, can't do anything about SOPA/PIPA. He could declare his intent to sign it/not sign it should it reach his desk, and he can then sign it or veto it once it gets there. He didn't draft it; media and copyright-related corporations and congress did. In a way, it was? In the...

    Police Brutality?

Since we're entertaining speculation: would you mind talking about whether the story as it was told portrayed correct application of force, rather than dismissing it as "About your link, I'd like to see the arresting officer's side. Wanna bet it's a different story?"?

    Police Brutality?

I think a reboot of this thread is a fine idea. Phantom: In this case, I think the officer made the best call he could have, considering the information he had available to him. That being said, are you also claiming that anything an officer can do that makes him safer is justified? (I'm not...
