• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Paranormasight anonymous mafia

Official cover art of Paranormasight. Most but not all of the main characters are pictured. Looming behind them is a ghostly young girl. Stone artifacts with distinct shapes are scattered across the picture.

Do you believe in curses?

Here is the information from the sign-up thread, for your review:

  • Hosts: @Eifie and @Keldeo, via @The Storyteller.
  • Phases: 72 hour days, 48 hour nights. Phases start and end at 7 PM EDT. :59 good, :00 bad - votes made at 6:59 PM EDT will be counted, but votes made with a timestamp of 7:00 PM EDT at the end of a phase will not be counted.
  • Setup: Anonymous game, day start, secret roles, roles and alignment will be revealed upon death with most curse stone information (if any) redacted. LYLO/MYLO will not be announced and votes will not be locked.
  • Flavour is randomized and not alignment indicative, and no knowledge of Paranormasight is necessary. There won't be any spoilers, either.
  • No out-of-thread communication allowed except where explicitly specified by the host.
  • This game is not bastard (unless you consider potentially annoying post compulsions/restrictions bastard - see curse stones below). Despite the flavour of the game, there are no revival mechanics. Some roles may be able to affect the game in some way after their death. In this case those roles will not have access to anything like deadchat until they can no longer affect the game.

  • Many roles will be in possession of a curse stone. Curse stones will have conditions that may require people to act in unnatural ways. Some curse stones require the user to fulfill their condition, while others will require the user to manipulate other people into fulfilling their condition. If a curse stone's condition is met, the owner may use their curse to perform an action or power up their regular action in a way as specified in their role PM.
  • Despite the name, curses are not all negative actions. Town can have curse stones, and fulfilling the conditions of their curses can result in positive outcomes for the town.
  • Players are forbidden from claiming the conditions of their curse, truthfully or falsely. But you are absolutely encouraged to purposely behave in an odd manner to fake having a curse stone.
  • Upon flip, it will be revealed whether or not a player had a curse stone, and which one it was. Other details about a player's curse stone (what the condition is, what the curse does) will be redacted.
  • There are nine curse stones, but it is likely that not all of them will be included in the game. We will randomize which curse stone gets which ability to avoid spoilers, so no story knowledge is necessary, and abilities will be unrelated to canonical curses.

I have prepared some additional information in the files below:

  • the Beckoning Light
  • the Everburning Lantern
  • the Evergreen Beech
  • the Fool's Procession
  • the Foot-Washing Mansion
  • the Haunting Clappers
  • the One-Sided Reed
  • the Taiko of Tsugaru
  • the Whispering Canal

  • The Mafia win when the Mafia make up half or more of the living players, or nothing can prevent this.
  • The Town win when all threats to Town are dead.

Finally, please note these voting rules:
  • Please bold your votes. Otherwise, feel free to refer to your fellow players in whatever manner you wish, and I will count votes as best I can.
  • The player with the most votes at the end of the day will be eliminated. If the vote is tied, the elimination will be randomized among all the tied players.
  • Majority/"hammer" is not enabled. That is, the day will not end early if someone gets above a certain number of votes.
  • Voting for "sleep"/"no elimination"/"abstain" is allowed.

Remember to keep to the spirit of anonymity!

In spite of my immense excitement to begin this story, the game has not started. Please do not post. Day 1 will begin at 7:00 PM ET on February 1, 2026.

Start of Day 1 New
Welcome, dear guests. I'm delighted you've come so far.

...Oh? It seems you do not recognize each other. Please pardon me for assuming you had already been acquainted.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am your humble Storyteller, here to guide you through the winding tale of PARANORMASIGHT.

We begin in the Honjo neighborhood of Sumida, Tokyo: a ward that casts its shadow across the clouded Sumida River. Home to corporations and families alike, these streets bustle by day but grow hazy and somber by night. What secrets have been swept away by the river's current, I wonder?

This is the twilight of the Showa era, filled with all sorts of striking new technologies. By now, a color television can be found in nearly every household. Not only that... If a person should wish to contact someone while they are out of their home, they use public telephone booths that can be found all over the city. Can you imagine a time of such plenty?

In fact, there is no need to imagine! You will be the main characters of this tale. You, not I, will decide who lives or dies. What's more, if you desire to draw on the power of the curse stones among us... well, I surely couldn't predict what you might do!

Now then, choose your words carefully. At dusk, the Feast of Shadows will begin.

You may now post. Day 1 ends in 72 hours, at 7:00 PM ET on February 4. (countdown timer)

What a nothingburger of a first post.
Was I meant to comment on the state of the game at that point?
"I hope that the coming days are fruitful, although we must prepare for every eventuality" is a statement that tells me nothing about you, nothing about the game, and nothing about your thought processes, not to mention how wishy-washy it reads

what thought process or conviction do you expect them to have, as opposed to being 'wishy-washy'?

Big aggression and voting out of the gate! What have you done with my tcodfia where everyone just shrugs and abstains day one.

I'm interpreting the big aggression as probably more towny than not, though. Seems kinda galaxy brain to go for that as scum here? Not that that's impossible, but.

A general comment on the setup, for example. Or just an ordinary fluff opener that was more straightforward and expressed a more confident mindset

yeah i also wasn’t happy with that vote, though i‘m not sure if it was a “push” so much as a statement

i’m not sure what to make of you saying this while also not having yourself contributed anything that you say you expect out of the rest of the roster lol
