[09] Psymon vs rock-ground vs YetiPenguin

Round Three

Psymon (O)
dodrio
Dodrio (F) <Early Bird>
Health: 65%
Energy: 59%
- Furious at Terror. Has two clones. Taunted (4 more actions).

rock-ground (O)
seaking
Seaking (M) <Water Veil>
Health: 65%
Energy: 64%
- Overwhelmed by Dodrio's endeavor. Surrounded by an aqua ring (+1%/action). Badly poisoned (4% next round).

With the commencement of the next round, commands ring out over the battlefield. While both Dodrio and Seaking look ready to go after a couple seconds of consideration, Terror is left hanging, his glowing gaze roving nervously around the sidelines as he tries to figure out why he hasn't got any orders to go on. His trainer has vanished from the ring and, after a few more seconds, the referee pulls his pokéball back out of the Battle Factory's storage facility and recalls him in a flash of red light. Both Dodrio and Seaking are perplexed, but after a few moments of hasty renegotiation, the battle is ready to proceed once again.

Dodrio's three heads drift apart until they are roughly equidistant from one another, their faces poised in looks of concentration as they conjure up elemental energies. At the tip of one of the head's beaks, a red orb forms; at another, a yellow one; and the icy blue ball of light growing before the third is mirrored by the orb of energy forming at the tip of Seaking's horn. As the three balls of energy grow larger, thin streamers of power start to flow back and forth between them, forming a triangle of crackling, wildly merging energies. With a cry, Dodrio lets the tri attack fly, and it sails towards Seaking, wheeling over and over in midair as it approaches the fish. Seaking concentrates and fires a thick ice beam straight through its center, getting his attack off before the tri attack can slam into his face. Although the injury that this causes prevents Seaking from initially noticing or caring about it, he manages to not only strike the real Dodrio, but hit the bird in a particular tender area, where one long neck connects to her body. The head in possession of that neck lets out a croak as Dodrio's clones flicker out of existence; the unfortunate head, which shivers with cold, draws the attention of the other two, and they soon fall to squabbling, hissing and snapping at one another.

While the bird calms herself down, Seaking prepares another ice beam and lets it fly, this time striking a less tender spot but nonetheless causing the dodrio considerable distress. By now her feathers are sheathed in a thin layer of frost and sticking out in all directions; the repeated blasts of cold are clearly sapping her strength. This only appears to spur her to add more venom to her counterattack, though; an especially large tri attack grows at the tips of the dodrio's beaks and blasts across the arena to slam into Seaking with considerable force. The fish pokémon is left convulsing in pain, even as Dodrio, with grins of delighted malice, charges up another tri attack.

The third and final tri attack slams home, leaving Seaking reeling and in a great deal of pain, for all that the aqua ring continues to swirl around him, washing away his minor injuries. He's not terribly happy about his next command, either, as it means leaving the relative safety of the water, but he really has little choice. Gathering himself, Seaking makes a great leap, hurling himself from the outer ring pool. Dodrio's three heads stare as the battered fish comes sailing straight at them, surrounded by a raging sheet of water. Seaking slams straight into Dodrio's chest, knocking the bird to the floor in an explosion of water. While Dodrio is able to scramble back to her feet easily enough, though, Seaking is left to flop and flail about on the damp clay, doing his best to hop back towards the water, but the going is slow.

Ice Beam ~ Ice Beam ~ Waterfall

I think you know by now, that, as far as ASB is concerned, 'mercy' is not in my vocabulary.

OK Dodrio, Start off with a double team for another three clones then use Supersonic, and finish off with another Tri Attack.

Double Team(3 Clones) ~ Supersonic ~ Tri attack.

Round Four

rock-ground (O)

Seaking (M) <Water Veil>
Health: 33% (capped)
Energy: 43%
- Fish out of water. Surrounded by an aqua ring (+1%/action). Badly poisoned (5% next round).

As Seaking hops and flails around on the ground, fighting every instinct that screams at him to get back into the water, Dodrio takes off at a run. The quick burst of exercise helps warm the bird up and mitigate the icy coating that's accumulated on her body, and after a couple of seconds she's starting to feel more cheerful. Seaking, on the other hand, at last lies still, eyes vacant and sides heaving as he gulps down deep draughts of air and attempts to concentrate on his attack instead of a mad rush back to the water. Fortunately, as a pokémon, he can still breathe out of water to an extent, but powerful instincts put him in a stupor of terror. As he lies where he is, listening to the rhythmic pounding of Dodrio's overlarge feet, it is all he can do to beat down panic and begin charging another ice beam.

As the familiar ball of blue energy grows at the tip of the fish's horn, Seaking rolls onto his stomach and glances around. Much to his dismay, he finds himself facing more Dodrio than he had been when he last checked; there are now four birds standing in front of him. Seaking sends a searing blast of cold at one of them, but it passes through the Dodrio harmlessly.

The remaining three dodrio open their beaks wide and let out a chorus of jarring screeches, their voices blending and clashing as weird chords emerge. The unsettling noise doesn't do much to bother Seaking, perhaps because he is so highly focused on producing his next attack instead of making a leap for the water; whatever the case, the supersonic is soon cut off by another ice beam. The attack slices through another clone and Dodrio shuts her beak with a decisive clack, glaring at an all-too-lucid Seaking.

Both clone and original appear to concentrate, bringing three loci of energy into being at the tips of their beaks. Meanwhile, Seaking struggles to get himself into place for another waterfall, his fins slipping awkwardly over the clay as he tries to prop himself up. The fish rights himself with considerable difficulty, and his erratic flailing serves him well as a sudden lurch to the side tips him out of the way of Dodrio's tri attack, which goes hissing by mere centimeters from his face. The bird's heads let out angry hisses, but these are choked off as Seaking spews a blast of water at the ground, rocketing himself into the air and straight into Dodrio's stomach. The impact is satisfyingly solid and the remaining clone vanishes as the bird staggers back, dazed. Seaking drops to the ground, finding himself in much the same situation he was at the end of the last round, although perhaps a little less panicked.

Psymon (O)
dodrio
Dodrio (F) <Early Bird>
Health: 20%
Energy: 33%
- Weakening and rather angry.

rock-ground (O)
seaking
Seaking (M) <Water Veil>
Health: 31%
Energy: 23%
- Exhausted emotionally and physically. Surrounded by an aqua ring (+1%/action). Badly poisoned (6% next round).

Final Notes
- Waterfall took more energy and did less damage than it ordinarily would have due to Seaking's high-and-dry situation.
- Psymon attacks first next round.

Start with Supersonic, then use Attract and use Use Rest unless Attract Didn't work, in which case use Attract again.

Supersonic ~ Attract ~ Rest/Attract

Try to get back in the water for the first 2 actions. Otherwise:

Get in water/Supersonic ~ Get in water/Ice Beam (and FOCUS! Don't be distracted by Attract!) ~ Chill (second Chill so far)

Seaking laboriously rolls himself over on his stomach and starts wriggling his way back towards the water, flopping and jumping awkwardly as he struggles away from his opponent. Behind him, Dodrio, though still stewing, forces himself to calm down enough to focus. Opening his beaks wide, he lets out another chorus of high-pitched screeches that clash and reverberate painfully in the air around Seaking. This time, the meddlesome vibrations have more of an effect on the fish, who becomes increasingly disoriented and confused. As panic sets in, his flopping becomes more violent and erratic, and rough landings leaves him bruised and aching. Worse yet, he's gotten himself turned around and is no longer wriggling towards the water trough, but parallel to it.

As she considers her next command, one of Dodrio's heads shoots her trainer a look of disgust. Nevertheless, the bird stalks forward, approaching Seaking with caution. The fish is obviously in panic, and when one of Dodrio's beaks comes swooping down out of the air and taps him on his side, his terror isn't much improved. When his eyes roll around to focus, however uncertainly, on Dodrio, he witnesses a strange sight: all three of the birds' heads bent down close to his, cooing over his sorry state and clucking to one another about how tragic it is. Really, a big, strong fish like him, with such shiny scales and a dashing physique, reduced to such a sorry state... Somewhere in the recesses of his foggy brain, Seaking is appalled--how can it be that he's actually starting to find the dodrio's bright eyes and broad, fan-like tail weirdly alluring? And is she really batting her eyes at him?

Out of sheer horror, Seaking scrambles away from Dodrio, making his way lopsidedly towards the water. Though he can physically distance himself from Dodrio, though, Seaking can't get away from the thought that Dodrio is actually kind of attractive, well, for a dodrio, anyway, and she certainly does seem interested in him... a bit of determined flopping has him at the edge of the pool again, and he plunges in with a gasp of relief. As water rushes over his gills again, Seaking relaxes and lets himself float, moving no more than is necessary to breathe as he revels in the feel of water around his body once again.

Dodrio watches the Seaking go, then lets out a triple sigh and buries her three beaks in her fluffed-out feathers, preparing for a rest of her own. It is no ordinary sleep into which the bird sinks, though, as evidenced by the fact that all three of the heads close their eyes. Dodrio enters a deep trance, and energy floods her body, mending wounds and restoring her to perfect health. She is quite heavily damaged, though; after all the ice she's seen, and all the attack's she's had to execute, she's not only badly damaged, but weary. The intense healing process saps her vitality even as Seaking, who appears to be resting in a similar way, regains it. Ultimately, the toll on her energy reserves is simply too great: Dodrio slips quietly from false sleep to total unconsciousness, her legs collapsing from under her, as the rest attack saps what remains of her strength.
