As the blowing sand wears at his thin skin, Squishy reflects darkly on just what he'll do to Carracosta if this next rain dance gets reversed. He's had it up to here with his dancing efforts getting erased immediately. He'd give Carracosta a warning glare if he could, but being invisible and stuck in the darkness of a sandstorm to boot, there just isn't must point. He has to concentrate on his dancing, fighting against the wind to get himself moving the way he wants. Ultimately, the jellicent's dancing skill doesn't fail him; the darkness of the sandstorm is replaced by the dimness of a cloudy day as the wind dies away and clouds crowd in overhead. Soon the air is full of raindrops instead of sand, and the mucky crust on Squishy is getting rapidly washed away--although now he is made obvious by rain splashing off and running down his body.
Carracosta snorts as his sandstorm is once again replaced by rain. Well, no point in calling up another one at this point. He'll have to try something else to defend himself from Squishy's energy balls.
He takes off running, splashing unsteadily through the muck that's accumulated on the square's cobblestones. Not a swift pokémon under the best of conditions, Carracosta is even more ungainly now. Nevertheless, he does work up enough speed to produce three illusionary copies of himself. No sooner has he stopped to admire them, though, then he notices that the rain passes straight through them in a most unconvincing fashion. They fade rapidly from sight, their illusion broken.
To make matters worse, Squishy is cooking up another energy ball on his side of the field. Carracosta sees it bloom eerily in midair, its hateful green light reflected off the slick of water covering Squishy's skin. The jellicent lets fly, and Carracosta bites back a groan as the grassy projectile knocks another dent in his armor.
Squishy has made a grave mistake, though, in letting Carracosta know where he is. The rock type marks the jellicent's location well as he lets out a roar and throws up his flippers, calling to the rocks below the earth. They reach up from their underground prison to lend him aid, several thin, sharp-edge shafts punching up through the pavement and into Squishy's vulnerable underbelly.
The jellicent wrenches himself free of the impaling stones, gasping in pain as gaseous essence leaks from the rents the attack leaves in his body. Fortunately, it's invisible, or Carracosta would have an even easier time finding a target for his outrage. Squishy plans to abandon stealth in favor of power for now, though, and kindles another energy ball between his tentacles. Carracosta is looking weary and in pain once the attack strikes, but he's still conscious and lively enough to call up a stone edge. This one is less severe than the last; though it shreds several of Squishy's tentacles, it doesn't hit any particularly sensitive spots.

A halt is called so that the referee can make a final assessment of the pokémon's condition. There's no question that Carracosta's in rougher shape, the energy balls having eaten many deep pits out of his armor, though Squishy is significantly more tired. When the final numbers come out, Squishy is the winner, but not by a great deal. Carracosta has time for one more bitter growl before he is recalled, while Squishy lets his invisibility go, the better to mug for the crowd.
The ragged remnants of the crowd, bravers of sand and rain, cheer vigorously as the trainers exchange the traditional end-of battle handshake and receive their congratulations--and prizes--from the referee.
ultraviolet wins $10 and advances to the next round. $5 goes to Coroxn, and $15 to me. Good battle, you two, and good luck next round, ultraviolet.
