Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

3DS price to decrease - 20 free games for those who already own it

I think one of the Pokemon guys said in an interview that they want to continue supporting the DS, but that may just mean something like what happened with the first PMD games with versions for the GBA and DS. I doubt they'd care about making any major release backwards-compatible.

...holy shit, the DS is that old?

I wouldn't be surprised if the DS keeps getting games for a while, since the 3DS is backwards-compatible and all.

2004 and it's 2011 now, so seven years I guess. And of course there'll be some big DS releases this year still, but come 2012 (especially with the release of the Wii U) count on everything being 3DS except shovelware. The 3DS has a much larger resolution so DS games tend to look fuzzy without shrinking the screens to original resolution... in which the screens are incredibly tiny.

While it would not surprise me too much if the RS remakes are published for the DS, all I can say is that sixth gen had better be exclusively 3DS. PMD Blue was a GBA game with added touch controls, akin to Twilight Princess being a GameCube game with motion controls.

That's like saying, "What does the GCN do that the N64 didn't?"

And, depending on who makes the game, sometimes there are actual benefits from having 3D. Just as an example, the over-the-shoulder view in SSFIV would be stupidly hard without the 3D. And I imagine 3D platforming (like mario or lego star wars) would be a lot easier. You know how it's stupidly hard to see the depth and distances in lego games?

Also, even if it doesn't add anything to the gameplay, it doesn't mean it's worthless. It enhances the experience a great deal. I played OoT with the 3D off for a few minutes just to see what the difference would be and it looked downright ugly. I couldn't stand not seeing the depth. Try walking around for a day with an eyepatch and you'll see the difference.

Color doesn't do anything for gameplay either most of the time. 3D is the same.
OK, while those are good points, I'm still not sold on it. For the record, I am neither a fan of platformers in general nor am I a big fan of Zelda nowadays. The library at the moment isn't quite there for me at the moment. Just wanting Rune Factory 4 and Dead or Alive: Dimensions at the moment. Trust me, I appreciate the 3D in some applications.

Now I have to wonder how they will do the 3D in BlazBlue, because that game's visual style just does not lend itself to 3D at all...
They should have advertised the AR more-- that shit is fun.
Yes, that looks like an amazing feature. And before anyone says it, no that would not work without 3D, I've never really said that's a bad thing at all.

You don't have to be sold on it; I'm not trying to convince you, just stating my opinion.

In the end, I'm stating my opinion as well and my observations on how they've been marketing this thing. It's all good. I enjoy civilization.
