Any other SM64 fans here?

I'm trying to pull off numerous glitches in the game, and I simply... can't. If there are any other fans that can pull off glitches like the backwards long jump to beat the game with 50/31/16 stars, the MIPS glitch to beat it with 16 stars, getting on top of the castle without the cannon, beating Koopa the Quick in 0 seconds, stuff like that - I'd like to know, because I fail at most of those (the most I can do is get Koopa to talk to me from far away, for instance) and would like to talk to somebody else about how to do the glitches. :/

Depends... The only way I've seen it done is on an emulator. You might go searching around the net if you haven't already.

Keep trying. The big thing with these glitches is timing, particularly the BLJ. Otherwise, you might want to try a slightly different position for the others you mentioned, and see if that works. Also, when you say you can talk to Koopa the Quick form far away, do you man talking to him on the edge of his 'talking circle', or farther? If it's the latter, you're on the right track; just fly into the cannon with the wing cap.

Also, around 98% of this game's glitches can be done on a console; all of them can be technically done, but some require almost frame perfect timing.

Beyond the edge of the circle. I actually managed to start flying once (like in the 0-second trick), but didn't have enough height to reach the cannon. I think I can pull that one off, but I'm not too good with aiming the cannon correctly, so I'd probably end up failing when it came to shooting into the cannon on the island.

I've been practicing getting on the castle without the cannon and I'm still failing. I can do a triple jump on the slope on the right side, but Mario slides down on his stomach rather than on his butt like in the videos I've seen.

I can't even do the glitch that lets you take MIPS through the door, even though supposedly you can walk on the right side of the door and press Z to go right through the door. Maybe I have the positioning wrong or something, but Mario simply will not go through. Not that it would matter much, since I can pull off maybe two consecutive BLJs on the staircase before Mario stops jumping. :/

For the 0-second trick, I believe that you have to triple jump; land the second time just inside the circle, then take off. That should give you enough height to reach the cannon. If you're still stuck, ask somebody else; it's been a while since I've done those glitches, so my memory is a bit rusty.

For the door glitch, I think you have to put MIPS as close to the door as you can, then jump between him and the door. With a little luck, you'll be stuck in the door; you can turn around by crawling, and just pick up and move MIPS. That's how I did it, anyway, and it worked well enough.

As for that roof trick, I can't help you. I never managed it myself, and it's been a while since I've tried. Try the secrets of SM64 topic on gamefaqs, it might help.

I've read those many times before. x3 They don't talk about getting on the roof without the cannon, maybe because everybody there already knew it or something.

EDIT:

I managed to triple jump into flying, but I was under the impression that you were supposed to try and reach the stone cannon that's almost directly below the floating island (near the Chain Chomp). I landed on the ground next to the elevator and then Koopa talked to me. I later realized that there's that cannon right at the start point.

I was playing around with that glitch again today, seeing if I could do normal triple jumps to have him talk to me from far away and then attempting it with the wing cap. I accidentally ground pounded on the edge of the stone cannon rather than into it the first time I managed it with the wing cap, which made Mario stand up, but the glitch hadn't worked anyway. I grabbed another wing cap and tried again. I managed to cannon-hop to the flagpole after taking off, and when I reached the ground Koopa talked to me. :3 I pulled it off~

I managed to do the "wedging" glitch with a cork box in Whomp's Fortress to fall through the level and die a few times, but with MIPS Mario absolutely would not go through the door. I read in one of the Secrets topics that if you press Z next to the door Mario pops right through, but I've tried it a lot at various angles and he just slides over. :/
