It can't be Giovanni as many thought, because in that live action Pokemon series, Ash's mother admitted to having an affair with Giovanni but never married him. According to 4Kids, the Japanese writers didn't approve of the script they wrote originally, making them change it so that Giovanni wasn't Ash's dad. Which most likely means they didn't like the idea of Giovanni as Ash's dad and/or have another idea.
 
There is actually a Japanese novel source that says that he was a trainer who never even won a badge that abandoned his wife and kid.

The-show-of-which-be-not-named isn't even canon.
 
I once had a thought that Jessie and James were Ash's parents from the future, but Ash found his way into a time machine in a time travel exhibit and lived with Delia. jessie and James chased after him and joined up with TR in order to get back their son.

Oh, and they want Pikachu because apparently in my head, the Pikachu species turned powerhungry and vicious in the future. They want to save their son.

Well, at least in the alternate universe series I'm working on he is.
