• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Attacks and Abilities Guide

veekun finally deployed a few days ago and it has Magic Coat and Role Play straight now for the record.

If a Pokemon uses Protect or Detect to avoid a Brick Break, will their screens still break? What if the Pokemon has a Substitute?

And in a double/triple/whatever battle, if one Pokemon's screen is broken, does the screen for the entire party shatter?

Yes all around.

Would intercepting an attack directed at a teammate take an action? If so, would it count as a conditional?

Iirc it only takes an action if there's considerable distance/the intercepting Pokemon is considerably slow. I believe you could, say, fire off a Mega Drain while intercepting a Water Pulse or something to that effect. Provided you're not confused or anything.

As The Omskivar implied, it might or it might not take an action; it would count as a conditional.

It won't take an action if the pokémon to protect is close and the action given for the protecting pokémon is one it could plausibly use while moving or shortly after arrival--nothing like focus punch, for example. It also can't move again, so unless the pokémon getting blocked is going to be running up for a contact attack or is already very close to its target, the blocking pokémon won't be able to make a contact attack against anything the pokémon it was supposed to be protecting during that action.

Can the effects of Camouflage be dropped at any time?
Yes

What happens if an aquatic Pokemon with Hydration uses Rest? Will it heal however much it was supposed to heal and wake up, will it heal 33% and wake up, or will it not heal anything at all?

What happens if an aquatic mammal uses Rest in water? Will they wake up immediately due to danger of drowning, or can they Rest for the full duration? Partial duration?

Can you mimic/copycat/whatever signature moves? If so, do they have a usage gap?

Somewhat differently, can you sketch signature moves?

Aquatic mammals will be able to stay underwater long enough to rest the full duration.

No to both. A signature move is unlike other moves in that only the pokémon it belongs to can use it.

Unless you were to have a signature move or attribute that in some way allowed its bearer access to others' moves or attributes.

... Now to logic out how a girafarig would do it.

If frisk is skill swapped onto a pokemon, the ability wouldn't take effect, right? Considering how it says it works only in the round a pokemon is first sent out?

So what is false swipe, exactly? A non-priority fake out?

Correct.

Yes, false swipe is more or less fake out, but worse.

Oh, I think I see where the confusion is: false swipe is weaker than fake out in that it has no priority and is a weaker disruptor. However, it works more than once.
