Arena: Animé-Style Battling

The Pokémon battle in a large and mysterious triangular room. The ceiling is infinitely high, so flying is allowed, and there's enough room to accommodate Pokémon like Wailord. The floor is made of a thick and sturdy but somewhat malleable material that can be used for moves like Rock Tomb, although any rocks, etc. formed are made of weirdfloor, not stone or whatever, and so will be changed to Normal-type. Other than this, there is nothing particularly special about the room itself... other than the fact that its three walls are not solid but actually portals to different parts of the ASB universe. Passing through each wall by any means (intentionally, thrown through, etc.) will cause the Pokémon to enter that universe just long enough for something to happen before it is warped back:

The ASB Central wall (colored red)- the Pokémon suddenly appears in a busy, bustling metropolis full of people and Pokémon dashing around to the bank, various businesses, etc. Pokémon with a base speed of 80 or higher are fast enough to dodge through the swarming crowd but must expend 5% energy to do so. Pokémon with a base speed of 79 or lower aren't quick enough to escape the rush and so take 5% damage from being knocked around. (Ref, check an online Pokédex like Veekun if you don't know the base stats.)

The Tournaments and Gym Battles wall (colored blue)- the Pokémon suddenly appears right in the center of the stage just as a well-loved coordinator and their Pokémon are making a spectacular appeal for the Grand Festival. The Pokémon's surprise arrival startles the performing Pokémon so badly that it can't perform its appeal; this disappoints the audience so much that they boo and hiss vehemently and throw things at the offender. While this does no damage, it makes the offender feel so incredibly guilty and unloved that it cannot perform its next action.

The ASB School wall (colored yellow; this is a garishly ugly room, isn't it?)- the Pokémon suddenly appears in the midst of a small group of decrepit buildings. It looks like an abandoned school campus of some sort. It seems there is nothing here... but there is also an air of extreme displeasure at your arrival. There is a 50% chance of nothing happening and the Pokémon is simply returned to the battle; if the other 50% comes up, an angry Sneasel leaps out from behind a building, a voice shouts "BEGONE!" and the Sneasel attacks the offender with Poison Jab. This does no damage, but the offender is now moderately poisoned. (Steel-types, Poison-types and Pokémon with the ability Immunity cannot be poisoned, as normal.)

Other: I did not make this arena; It is entirely of Kratos Aurion's creation. I refuse to take credit for his genius(or is it insanity?), and yes he has allowed me(or anybody, really) to use this arena, and any others he has created.
I would prefer if the pokemon used aren't evolved at all, although I wouldn't fuss that much if you decide to use evolved pokes.
Finally, if possible, I would prefer to face Kratos Aurion-it is his arena, and who better to face than the creater of it? I won't, however, turn down a challenge; I'll just reserve this challenge for a couple days, then I will accept challenges from others.

I'll send out Rastignac and Muramasa.

Rastignac will begin by taunting Psy; if Psy protects or can't reasonably hear you, set up a safeguard instead. If you didn't taunt Psy on the first action, do so now; if you did or if she tries protecting herself again, use calm mind. Lastly hit Jack with a grass pledge; if Jack protects then use it on Psy instead, and if Psy is also protecting then calm mind again.

Muramasa, set up a 15% substitute. Body slam Jack next, body slam Psy if Jack is protecting and if they're both protecting then do nothing and conserve energy. Fire pledge any available opponent on the last action, preferring Psy over Jack, and this time if they're both protecting then fire off a hidden power at... oh, Jack anyway, just to see what type it rolls.

Rastignac: Taunt @ Psy/Safeguard ~ Taunt @ Psy/Calm Mind ~ Grass Pledge @ Jack/Grass Pledge @ Psy/Calm Mind

Muramasa: Substitute (15%) ~ Body Slam @ Jack/Body Slam @ Psy/nothing ~ Fire Pledge @ Psy/Fire Pledge @ Jack/Hidden Power @ Jack

Alright, lets do this!

Psy, bounce that Taunt back to Rastignac with Magic Coat. Then, if Rastignac is taunted on the second action due to Magic Coat, take the opportunity to use Calm Mind. If he isn't, then fling him through the Blue wall with Psychic while still trying to do damage, but prioritize flinging him through the wall. Finally, regardless of what happened on action 2, fling him through the Blue Wall with Psychic and try to do damage, but prioritize the flinging through the blue wall.

Jack, if Rastignac uses taunt on Psy, then use Toxic on Rastignac. If he used safeguard instead, however, then use Ice Beam at him. Then, on the second action, regardless of whether Rastignic is taunted or not, use Double Team to create 4 clones. Finally, fire off a Water Gun at Muramasa if you aren't paralyzed. If you are, however, then use Refresh to get rid of that nasty little status ailment.

Psy: Magic Coat~Calm Mind/Psychic@Rastignac(aim to fling through Blue wall)~Psychic@Rastignac(aim to fling through Blue wall)

Jack: Toxic@Rastignac/Ice Beam@Rastignac~Double Team(4 clones)~Water Gun@Muramasa/Refresh.

Just so its clear, I want Psy to focus on flinging Rastignac through the Blue wall when ordered to, but if at all possible, I want her to rough him up enough to do some damage at the same time.

Asber long since having run out of sensible, realistic or plausible arenas, today's battle has instead been arranged for one of the region's more awesomely batshit locales. Situated in the physics-can-just-bugger-off sector of one of the area's major cities is an infinitely tall, triangular building, a rather daring piece of architecture that not only punches science right in the face with its extraordinary dimensions, but also uses a rather interesting choice of building materials. Each wall is a shimmering primary-coloured portal, leading to a major landmark somewhere else in the region. Through the distorting wormholes, you can just hear the hustle and bustle of ASB central, the frenzied cheers of the tournament stadium, and the- well, okay, you obviously can't hear anything from the deserted, run-down ASB School campus, but it's in there somewhere.

Within this fantastical Toblerone stand three trainers, the combatants for this match and their referee, each stationed at a different corner. The referee gives the order to send out, and Blinkingsky hurls two Pokéballs into the centre of the triangle, which burst open in a flash of red light to reveal a Mudkip and Ralts. Evidently deciding to even out the Hoenn majority, Kratos Aurion goes for a Unova-themed pair of fighters, releasing Rastignac the Snivy and Muramasa the Tepig into the ring- er, triangle. As the Pokémon take in the overwhelming improbability of the arena, the referee waves a flag, signalling a start to the first round.

For several moments, no Pokémon makes a move, the four critters staring in awe at their mesmerisingly fascinating surroundings. Eventually, one of the quartet snaps himself out of it and steps forward to make a move; Rastignac struts confidently toward Psy, wearing an expression of pure smugness (moreso than a Snivy usually does, anyway). He taps the Ralts on the shoulder, and when she turns around, leans into her, hands on his hips and widening his smarmy grin. So you're from Hoenn, eh? he remarks brashly. Wow, that's a joke of a region- stupidest Pokémon I ever saw. Not like Unova! No dumbass Raltses in Unova, no sir- and so he prattles on, crassly tearing into everything about Hoenn he can think of. Psy, however, is privy to none of his malice, having coated her body in an invisible film of psychic energy that blocks every word he says. ...and that's why Pokémon musicals beat Pokémon contests in every conceivable- hey, are you even listening?! Having completely forgotten that the sole purpose of his boasting was to get a rise out of Psy, Rastignac becomes infuriated himself at her refusal to even acknowledge the majesty of Unova, and resolves to give this philistine a piece of his mind. Meanwhile, his teammate is taking things rather more easily. Blowing a largeish puff of smoke from his nostrils, he begins to mould the surprisingly viscous cloud of sooty smog with his hooves, forming it into the rough shape of a Tepig. When he finishes, the model sets rock solid, and trots up in front of him to fend off any aggressors. While he sits proudly behind his creation, Jack wanders over to Rastignac and Psy to see what all the commotion is about. Tentatively, he taps Rastignac on the arm, and when the furious lizard whirls around to ask what the hell he wants, Jack spews a huge, messy glob of mud all down Rastignac's front. The Snivy snarls in disgust, about to smack the filthy mudfish upside the head before realising the mud contained some sort of caustic substance, which is already beginning to corrode through his scales and enter his body. He attempts to wipe the disgusting muck off, but already he can feel it's too late as a slight nausea washes over him. Sensing his illness, the shimmering rainbow scale clasped in Rastignac's hand responds with a flash, coating his body in a radiant blue aura to help protect him from further harm.

Though he now has considerable beef with Jack as well, Rastignac focusses his rage back on Psy. He eyes her with absolute loathing, lamenting the lack of face-shattering violence in his commands; Calm Mind?! No way! This is not the time for a bunch of sissy meditating. This is the time for punching Raltses until his arms explode. And then carrying on regardless. He settles for just standing there sulkily, shooting murderous glances at Psy all the while. His companion, however, has no such restrictions to meting out sufficient quantities of delicious injury, scampering around his Substitute and bounding up to Jack. Before the Mudkip even notices him coming, the pig barrels into him at full speed, slamming the Mudkip brutally to the ground. Jack yelps as Muramasa's considerable bulk crushes him against the weirdfloor, yelping even louder when he feels something click painfully in his joints. When Muramasa rolls off him and returns to safety behind his substitute, Jack finds his muscles very stiff and uncooperative, hampering his movement tremendously. While he attempts to get his limbs to cooperate, Psy closes her eyes, indulging in some of that peaceful meditation that Rastignac refused to participte in earlier, banishing all the doubts and worries from her mind and letting a serene calm wash over her, making her far harder to disturb mentally. When Jack finally forces his legs to operate normally, he rather ambitiously goes for a sprint around the room; he tries his hardest to get up enough speed to reduce to a mere blur, but his stiff legs make this impossible. Regardless, when he finally has to stop to nurse his sore joints, two semi-translucent Mudkip mirages follow along with him.

While Jack applauds his meager success, a maniacal grin forms across Rastignac's previously furious face. Finally, a chance to hurt things! Sure, he can't attack that Unova-hating bitch of a Ralts, but he can vent on her muck-puking cohort. Closing his eyes, he begins to mutter a strange mantra to himself over and over, reciting an ancient spell known only to a select few Grass-type Pokémon. As his chanting grows more rapid, the weirdfloor under Jack's feet begins to quake and crumble, and suddenly enormous vines erupt from the ground, flinging Jack into the air with the tremendous speed of their growth and blasting his clones from existence as they burst through them. Muramasa, meanwhile, is reciting his own ancient incantation, a spell passed down through generations of Fire Pokémon that combines with the Grass-type spell to produce a mighty combination attack. Flames suddenly burst into existence around Jack and Psy, shooting skyward into towering columns of flame, which catch the remaining vines left from Rastignac's move to produce an enormous, searing bonfire with Jack and Psy at its centre. The Pokémon's yells of terror are drowned out by the mighty crackling of the blaze, which Jack eventually manages to hasten towards its demise by spouting water on the blazing cage of plantlife. Neither of Blinkingsky's team got out unscathed, however, both of them sporting angry red burns on various parts of their body. Wincing at the unbearable stinging sensation on her raw, burned flesh, Psy turns to face Rastignac, her eyes flashing bright blue as the startled lizard is lifted into the air by a mysterious psychic force. Psy gingerly sweeps her scalded arm toward the blue wall, and with a yelp Rastignac is flung in its direction, phasing right through the portal and into the contest stage. There, a very heated contest final is underway, the contestant's victory hinging on this one last appeal. Their Pokémon, a Kangaskhan, has already performed two very popular moves, but to really win the crowd over she needs to hammer it home with a well-placed Earthquake. The tension in the arena is palpable as the Kangaskhan beats her chest, lifts her fist high over her head, swings it down- and is forced to veer off to the side as a Snivy pops into existence right the hell out of nowhere in front of her. In her attempt to avoid crushing Rastignac, she topples over and slams right into the judge's desk, smashing it into splinters and very nearly crushing the Boss Lady herself as she collapses into the front of the spectator stands. The crowd gives a collective gasp of surprise and horror at this disaster; Negrek furiously scans the field as the other judges stagger to their feet, looking for the vile creature that dares ruin a contest and destroy her League's valuable desks. Her eyes rest on Rastignac, who stares guiltily down at his feet as the crowd boo him relentlessly and hurl whatever snacks they might be consuming in his general direction. Before the Boss Lady can call security and have the offender removed or identify who his trainer is, however, Rastignac zaps back into the battle, still feeling terrible about spoiling the contest, as well as sick to the stomach from his poisoning. Neither of Blinkingsky's Pokémon are very well off, either; both are in even more pain than usual with their terrible burns, and Jack's limbs are completely locked up, rendering him completely incapable of voluntary movement.

Ouch. Things didn't go too well there.

Jack, start off with Refresh so that we can get rid of that paralysis and burn of yours. Then, use Scald to get rid of Muramasas substitute. Finally, finish off with another Scald at Muramasa. If you are paralyzed on action 1, just move your actions over one. If you are tormented, then use Ice Beam at Rastignac on action 3 instead of Scald.

Psy, start off with Thief at Rastignac to take away his precious Marvel Scale. Next, use Will-O-Wisp on Rastignac to show him how it feels to be burned. Finally, finish with a Safeguard to prevent any more status ailments. If you are taunted, then replace your actions with these:

Action 2: Extrasensory@Rastignac
Action 3: Charge Beam@Muramasa

Also, if either of your opponents decide to boost up their stats/set up a substitute, then use Snatch on any action.

Rastignac, use leaf storm on Jack, getting as close as possible while he just sits there so you're less likely to miss. Then taunt Psy to stop the will-o-wisp and more importantly the safeguard, and finish up by lobbing some leech seeds at Psy as well.

Muramasa, you should hopefully be protected from both scalds by your sub, so don't worry overmuch about those. Yawn at Psy, then yawn at Jack unless he was fully paralyzed on the first action and couldn't refresh; if that's the case, body slam Psy before she falls asleep. Last, wild charge Jack if you yawned at him on the second action, and yawn at him if you didn't already do so.

Even into the next round, Rastignac's shame at ruining the contest is still great enough to prevent him from acting. However many times his trainer hollers "Leaf Storm, damnit", he fails to take any notice, devoting all his attentions to beating himself up for being such an immense git. His partner doesn't seem to be taking a very active role in the proceedings, either; sitting lazily behind his meatshield, Muramasa's eyelids begin to droop heavily, and he lets out an enormous yawn in Psy's direction. The Ralts is overcome by an immense urge to yawn herself; much as she tries to stave it off, the yawn is just too addictive, and within moments her mouth drops wide open, unleashing a yawn even huger than Muramasa's, a feeling of immense tiredness washing over her.

Her teammate, meanwhile, is tired for an entirely different reason; that is, tired of all these status ailments. He decides to do away with them, closing his eyes as his body is enveloped with a radiant white glow. His immune system goes into overdrive, purging his muscles of their awful stiffness and repairing his peeling, burnt skin. Psy looks over at him enviously, stifling another yawn and rubbing her own searing red flesh. She puts her injuries out of her mind and sneaks over toward Rastignac, who is still completely distracted by his feelings of guilt. Suddenly, she gingerly barges into him with her scalded shoulder, knocking the inattentive snake to the ground. Oh, sorry! she says, offering her hand to help Rastignac up; the bewildered snake takes it, and as Psy hauls him to his feet, she deviously palms his Marvel Scale and walks away. Reacting to its new owner's singed skin, the ill-gotten scale shines a brilliant blue, coating Psy in the same aura that encased Rastignac a few moments before.

At the very least, this appropriation snaps Rastignac out of his sense of self-pity. Returning his attention to the battle, he notices with a shock that his precious, sparkly scale is missing! He begins to frantically search the arena for it- oh god, he didn't leave it at that contest stage, did he?! Eventually, his eyes rest on Psy, and with a snarl he recognises the protective bubble of energy now concealing her body. That lowlife robbed him! Psy waves the sparky scale at him smugly, but, refusing to be outsmugged, the Snivy turns his nose up and scoffs. Fine, keep the wretched thing. It'll take more than a sparkly little trinket to make you look good, girlfriend. Psy's smugness dissolves instantly into rage; I look perfectly fine even without this thing, thank you very much! she fumes, restraining herself from flinging it to the ground in anger. And I didn't steal it because it's pretty, I... grr! Too exasperated to attempt to argue with Rastignac any longer, Psy instead settles for attempting to beat his brains out.

Before she can enact any violence upon his person, however, Muramasa makes another half-arsed attempt to involve himself in the proceedings, raising his head from his nap to unleash another cavernous yawn. This time, he catches the eye of Jack, who immediately returns his yawn twice as loudly. Blinking his watery eyes, he ignores the strange, sudden feeling of exhaustion and summons up a mouthful of water from within his body. Sweat pours down his face as he holds it in his cheeks for several moments, until steam pours from his lips and he fires a high-pressured jet of boiling hot water straight at Muramasa. Instantly, his substitute leaps up to defend him, blocking the stream of water which bursts into it with a furious hissss. The substitute plops onto the ground, its hide red and bubbling, much of it melting off in large chunks which roll to the ground and evaporate into the smoke they were borne from. Within moments, barely any of the structure remains, and it hardly resembles any Pokémon at all, let alone a Tepig.

Meanwhile, Psy finally unleashes her anger upon Rastignac, her body flashing with a pinkish glow which also surrounds her bewildered target. Before Rastignac has time to wonder what's going on, Psy uses her psychic abilities to hack her way into the Snivy's brain, momentarily seizing control of all his motor capacities and using them to twist his muscles in unnatural, excruciatingly painful ways. He collapses to the floor as his legs buckle, each knee trying to bend itself backward and sideways while his arms flail uncontrollably, all while the Snivy screams in utter agony. Eventually he is rescued when Psy suddenly lets out a long, loud yawn and abruptly collapses into a deep sleep, relinquishing her control on Rastignac and leaving him to lie in a sore, panting heap.

...and he just stays lying there in a sore, panting heap. His leg muscles are far too tender for him to stand up, and in any case Psy's attack left him in too much shock to do anything very useful anyway. With a pitiful look at his poor, broken partner, Muramasa decides to take charge for his team this action, putting everything into his next attack. Straightening the sash tied around his midsection, he bounds over the remains of his substitute and rushes at Jack, his hide crackling with static charge. Without slowing down, he slams his body into the Mudkip with all the force he can muster, sending the two sprawling across the ground with a terrific wham and a bright burst of electrical power. The tackle deals considerable damage to Jack, but through its reckless execution, Muramasa doesn't walk away completely unharmed himself.

Taking a moment to regain his bearings after Muramasa's brutal surprise attack, Jack gives a vicious growl, and brings up another mouthful of water to hose the brutish Fire-type down with. He heats the water until he can no longer stand it in his mouth, spluttering out another searing-hot blast of water and steam. With the last of its energy, Muramasa's substitute flings itself into the air and intercepts the jet, exploding into a cloud of smoke as the boiling water splashes into it. The Tepig watches the smoke float skyward and disappear out of sight, lamenting the loss of his bodyguard; meanwhile, Jack, like his partner before him, succumbs to the intense tiredness planted into him by Muramasa's yawn, and keels over onto his side into a deep sleep. As he does, the motionless bodies of Psy and Rastignac twitch in pain as their respective afflictions flare up painfully.

DERP way to remember when Rastignac was supposed to be doing nothing. Well done. But okay, we can still roll with this!

Both of you set up a 10% substitute; don't want any flinching from snore, and extra insurance is always nice. Then Rastignac will leech seed Psy (wait for Muramasa to finish his attack before doing so) and leaf storm Jack, and Muramasa will hit Psy with a flamethrower and then just chill.

However! Should Jack use sleep talk and call what looks like it might be bide, e.g. starts glowing red, Rastignac should turn that leaf storm on Psy instead. If either one sleep talks something that moves them out of reasonable range (not that Psy can sleep talk for the first two actions anyway, but just in case), whoever's targeting them can just chill.

Rastignac: Substitute 10% ~ Leech Seed @ Psy (wait for Muramasa)/Chill ~ Leaf Storm @ Jack/Leaf Storm @ Psy/Chill

Muramasa: Substitute 10% ~ Flamethrower @ Psy/Chill ~ Chill

Keep it simple.

Both of you, Sleep Talk on the first two actions(Psy can since taunt is not in effect during sleep, but it will resume when she wakes up). Finally, Psy keep Sleep talking while Jack just Chills on the last action. That reminds me, replace sleep talk with these commands if you wake up.

Jack:
Action 1: Ice Beam@Rastignac
Action 2: Scald@Muramasa
Action 3: Chill

Psy:
Action 1: Extrasensory@Rastignac
Action 2: Confusion@Muramasa
Action 3: Charge Beam@Muramasa

Jack: Sleep Talk/Ice Beam@Rastignac~Sleep Talk/Scald@Muramasa~Chill

Psy: Sleep Talk/Extrasensory@Rastignac~Sleep Talk/Confusion@Muramasa~Sleep Talk/Charge Beam@Muramasa

Blegh, it looks like this battle is just taking up a battle slot now =/. Would you just like to end this in a draw Kratos, or do you want to wait a little longer to see if somebody is gonna ref this?

I would like to wait at least a little longer, if that's okay with you. I'll make another e-ref request, and if no one takes it in a week or so we can end it then. All right?

Okay, so ending this in a draw, as request. Since nothing has fainted, everyone gets 1 EXP and, I believe, both trainers get $3? Correct me if I'm wrong; I never did this before.

Ah, well. Thanks for finishing it up, Squorn. We'll have a full battle again someday, Skyman; this one was fun while it lasted.
