Dragon vs Kratos Aurion

Hm... okay. I think what we're going to do is Fly down, then Aerial Ace twice; use the momentum of the second Aerial Ace to carry toward the pool, if you're not there already. If Storm protects/is unreachable on any action after the first then chill; if she protects/is unreachable on the first action, though, I still want you to come down. Just don't bother actually striking her and come in for a landing instead if she's got a shield up or whatever.

Fly down ~ Aerial Ace/chill~ Aerial Ace/chill

Urf. See if you can Roar and make him crash, or go back up. He'll likely be on the ground, so go with a Double-edge if he's close and not Ghost, Rock or Steel type, Brick Break if he's steel type and Dragon Claw if he's Ghost or Rock. If Räsvelg isn't Poison type, Toxic, if so, Double-Edge. >_>

Arena: Holon Field

A flat, almost completely so, green, thriving field in a supposedly fictional region. Encircling where the battlers will be are odd glowing stones, of a hue of every colour imaginable. Strangely, there are only seventeen stones, though these shift colour every now and then. Hills wave up and down in the distance, though where the battlers are is in the middle of nowhere.

There was a legend in Holon, about Pokemon that are not the types they should be, like Psychic Vileplumes or Electric Pidgeots. For a while, this has been only a legend, until such Pokemon were actually found. This field in Holon, though small, is a national park, so destruction is frowned upon. Although for whatever reason, Trainers may come to battle, or watch battles here every once in a while.

Not a very smart idea, on the government's part.

Every round, there is a 80% chance of the battling Pokemon spontaneously changing types. Their weaknesses, resistances, and STAB are not the only things that change, however, the Pokemon is coated in an aura or flames of the colour of the type they have changed into, red for Fire, for example, that has a 20% chance of doing 1% damage of whatever type the aura is on contact. These changes fade at the end of each round, though the next round there is still an 80% of a type change. What type the Pokemon changes into is up to the referee.

On the side, there is a small pond for aquatic Pokemon, about twenty feet square and twelve feet deep.

Räsvelg rode the thermal for several moments longer, waiting for a coloured aura to envelop his body, but it never came. Down on the ground, Storm shifted her weight from foot to foot in a fever of impatience. What use was the power and rapidity coursing through her blood if her opponent just flapped about in the sky? Just as she was about to give up waiting and take a rest, she noticed, out of the corner of her eye, that the roughly bird-shaped speck was quickly growing larger.

Having come to the conclusion that the rainbow stones wouldn’t be acting this round, Räsvelg angled his body to the ground, folded his wings close to his body, and let gravity carry him down. Wind whistled past in a high, whining song as he went faster, and faster still, the grassy earth of the Holon Field rushing up to meet him. In the middle of the circular pasture stood Storm. The blue shorebird smirked and tucked his wings in further – and flared them out again when the Shelgon opened her mouth and roared, the sound deep and earthen. The shock of stopping so suddenly actually jerked Räsvelg back – his arms screamed in protest – but even his fully-extended wings couldn’t slow his descent fast enough, and he crashed, snout-first, into the ground two feet beside Storm, who was still bellowing. The air around him thrummed with the sound energy, the ground shook with it, and his eardrums felt ready to burst.

Fortunately, even Storm’s incredibly large lungs couldn’t sustain the incredible sound for long, and after several seconds she fell silent. Räsvelg sat up with a wince. Carefully he rubbed his ears, as if afraid that his eardrums really would burst if he used too much pressure. Seeing an opening, Storm recklessly rushed forth, stout legs working at a furious pace to carry the dragon-pupa across the grass. She barreled into Räsvelg with a considerable amount of force, hard shell striking him squarely in the chest. The Pandive stumbled backwards, gasping for breath and coughing at regular intervals. His taloned forefeet rushed to the spot of impact, the discomfort in his ears completely overridden by the pain radiating through his torso; he knew that, within several minutes, a dark and ugly bruise would form there.

As soon as he caught his breath, Räsvelg shot a glare at Storm. Granted, she was still in worse condition that he was, but damnit that hurt. He kicked off with his hind legs and half-flew half-ran up to his opponent, building up an impossible amount of speed as he closed the short distance between the two Pokemon. Storm’s eyes widened and she hastily tried to step to the side, but the attack was impossible to avoid. Räsvelg simply kept going and gave a quick but vicious slice to her hind leg as she went by. Ignoring the Shelgon’s cry of pain, he curved his flight towards the pond and landed on the bank with a flick of his wings.

Storm’s leg very nearly buckled as a result of the Aerial Ace, and it took a tremendous amount of effort to right herself. Growling, she shook the limb, causing a few drops of blood to spatter onto the grass. Then she trotted over to Räsvelg, limping as she tried not to put too much weight on her hind leg. A thick, gurgling sound emanated from her throat, and the shorebird raised an eyebrow, but didn’t respond otherwise.

He certainly reacted, however, when Storm brought a glob of viscous, foul sludge from her mouth and spat it all over his feathers. He jerked back, nearly toppling into the pond with a disgusted yell, and frantically swiped at his neck with one foreleg, but a good portion of the poison had already seeped into his skin, and what he did manage to wipe away simply found another entry. Within seconds the fast-acting Toxic had disappeared, leaving nothing but purple stains.

As the first stings of poison damage wracked his body, Räsvelg once again launched forward with a growl, talons extended to their full length. Even though he was dead-tired and practically begging for a rest, he managed to build up a respectable amount of speed before striking Storm’s foreleg, ripping yet another wound in her vulnerable, exposed skin. She yelped and jerked back as Räsvelg did a sharp U-turn and landed in a heap on the bank, panting.

Let's faint ourselves before he can kill us~ Go with a Double Edge+Outrage, and then Outrage on the last action. Chill if he Protect/Detect/flies up/is unreachable somehow, and just Outrage if the two can't be combined.

Both Pokemon paused for a few seconds after the referee waved her flags, expecting the boulders to change their colours and bestow upon them a new elemental affinity, but nothing happened. Storm shifted uneasily, but Räsvelg hardly even noticed; he was on all fours, head hanging down. Loud panting noises emanated from his open mouth. The poor shorebird was incredibly fatigued.

Figuring that she had better attack before Räsvelg could, Storm growled and squeezed her eyes shut, calling up her deepest reserves of draconic power to form around her tough scales in an intense sheet of blue-green dragon fire. The heat from the supernatural flame was so powerful that it warped the space around it and filled the very air with the smell of burning. Räsvelg’s nostrils caught a whiff of the disagreeable scent, and he looked up with a startled expression to see Storm practically right up against his face, body seething with a draconic blaze and eyes an unnatural, flat orange.

With a startled screech he scrambled backwards, even as he pumped water from internal stores into his mouth, causing his cheeks to bulge. Acting quickly, he tucked his head into his chest, his muzzle facing his tail, and surrounded his feathers in a curtain of water-type energy before shooting the liquid in his maw in a thin, high pressure jet. He lifted his talons off the ground, and the incredible force of the steam actually propelled all seventy pounds of pseudo-gryphon at an unorthodox speed towards his opponent, the task made somewhat easier by the Pandive’s flapping wings. Before Storm could shuffle to the side, back away, or retaliate, Räsvelg crashed into the Shelgon’s face amidst a spray of water droplets. He didn’t stop there, however. His speed kept him going; he flipped into a somersault that rolled him across Storm’s back, where he took the opportunity to give her two firm slashes. More water droplets spattered everywhere as the Pandive flopped onto the ground, completely spent.

Despite her natural elemental resistances, the impressive attack was more than enough to push Storm over the edge. First her front legs gave way, forcing her to kneel on the grass, before her consciousness slipped away and she fell on her side with a thump. The referee peered at the fallen Pokemon for several seconds, then declared her fainted; however, Räsvelg was far too exhausted to celebrate his victory properly.

Aw man good job Storm D:

Erm. We're not going to win are we Rose? Let's try anyways.

[Rose]Eevee(F)
Ability: Adaptability

In the interest of getting as much mileage out of you as possible, Räsvelg (although technically, with your appearance in the battle with Negrek and some spare exp I can convert into a rare candy, you do already have enough exp to evolve...), I'd like you chill for the entire round. There is absolutely nothing an Eevee can do to you that will deal 42% damage in three actions, they don't learn Taunt... the worst Rose can do is something like Yawn or Attract, and you can just chill through all that anyway and worry about it later. Just save up the energy for when we can attack second again, and then all of the destruction in the following round shall be glorious.

If for whatever reason you can't chill, though, I would really prefer you do nothing instead of struggle or whatever. If you can manage it.

Chill/do nothing x3

Well uh. Let's see. There's likely very little you can do this round, though let's try to make the best of it~ Going for an evolution, yeah?

Start with a.. Double Team? Yeah. Try to make as many clones as you can, go for.. as many as you can. Kuh. Follow up with a Skull Bash if you haven't changed types or he's Rock, Steel or Ghost type, in which case go Shadow Ball or Dig, whichever is super effective. One turn Digs, if that's possible.

With a shrug and a few congratulatory words, Dragon returned her comatose Shelgon to the safety of her Pokeball. After several minutes of mumbling and muttering of how she was just about screwed and one of her Pokemon may as well evolve, during which the referee impatiently shifted her weight from foot to foot, the ASBer threw another high-tech sphere. This one burst open to reveal… a much less menacing Pokemon: a small brown cat-like creature with a creamy ruff around her neck. Rose the Eevee mewled and attempted to stare down Räsvelg, who merely raised an eyebrow, too tired to do anything else.

So fatigued was Räsvelg that upon hearing his commands, he literally dropped to the ground in a heap with a huge sigh. Rose took one look at him and smirked. Storm may not have done much in terms of physical wounds, but she certainly had worn him down something awful; finishing him off should be a cinch.

Suddenly, the seventeen stones around the battlers flared up in a white glow, which died down shortly after to reveal that they were rapidly shuffling their colours. The newcomer to the strange field backed away, clearly startled by the natural phenomenon. Eventually the boulders settled on brilliant crimson – a colour seen earlier in the battle – and a sky blue with flashes of white dancing across the surface. The nearly-comatose Räsvelg showed no reaction to the change, in stark contrast to Rose: she was running around in frantic circles, her newly-acquired red aura trailing behind her, shrieking something about being set on fire. This went on for a good half minute.

Once the feisty Eevee came to the conclusion that the uncomfortably hot glow would cling stubbornly to her fur no matter what she did, she sat down with a huff. Almost immediately she stood up again, having recalled her commands, and sighed, then broke out in a run again. This time, though, her sprint took her much faster, so fast that she became a brown and cream blur. When she slowed down, Rose had three new companions, all of them completely congruent. Even their panting was in synch. All four Eevees glowered at Räsvelg with a challenge glittering in their eyes, but the blue shorebird, still collapsed on the floor, gave no indication that he was even aware of his opponent. After a few seconds, Rose broke the glare and pouted. What fun was a battle if your opponent just sat there?

Perhaps a bit of pain would prod him to fight. Rose sat back on her haunches and went over her commands: skull bash, shadow ball, or dig…? Identifying her opponent’s type was no problem – she could practically smell the airy essence coming from Räsvelg – but none of the attacks ordered were super-effective, she realized. After much mental debate she decided on skull bash.

Pawing the earth, Rose growled and tucked her head against her ivory-coloured ruff, bending her knees slightly to bring her belly closer to the ground. Her tail was swept between her legs to further protect her vulnerable underside. Slowly she began to tense her entire body, energy bubbling in her paws as she prepared to dash forward at breakneck speed.

Räsvelg shifted slightly, and a quiet snore echoed through the air.

Annoyed, Rose rushed at him with a high-pitched, squeaky battle cry, forehead glowing with a faint white power. She struck him in the chest; completely taken by surprise, the Pandive yelped as he somersaulted through the air, his cries mixed with horrible coughing. Ungracefully he hit the floor about half a meter away, skidding another foot or so before coming to a stop. Räsvelg winced, coughed, and rubbed his back, which was now slicked with mud. What satisfaction Rose had gotten out of the attack quickly evaporated when the pseudo-gryphon just grunted and flipped back onto his stomach, determined to resume his rest no matter what. Räsvelg’s only movements were the rise and fall of his chest as he breathed, and the wince when he felt the poison ravaging his insides.

Räsvelg’s 3rd chill recovered less energy because he was attacked.
Not quite sure how Skull Bash works: does the defense boost go away after the attack’s been executed? I’d think yes, because the Pokemon is no longer bracing itself, but if you guys have any problems I’ll fix’em up.
And sorry for the late reffing. I wanted to include this in this year’s NaNo.

I think this calls for a 10% Substitute, followed by an Aerial Ace to wreck her clones and Aqua Tail for massive damage. If she's Dragon-type, use Blizzard instead; if she's Water- or Grass-type, Aerial Ace again.

Almost done, Räsvelg. Just mess her up something awful before you go.

With a blip the stones all reverted to a normal colour as one, then flashed with a subtle white glow before, predictably, shuffling their colours. All four Roses warily regarded the fantastical boulders, but did nothing more; if Räsvelg didn’t seem bothered by it, then it must be a natural occurrence. In the end, white-yellow and sickly violet were their choices, and the Pokemon were enveloped in their respective auras. Rose’s coat began to glitter with occasional electrical discharges, while Räsvelg felt the urge to vomit violently.

The four Roses congregated to a central point where they all sat back on their haunches and slowly expelled all air in their lungs, glancing at Räsvelg every once in a while to make sure he wouldn’t try to pull any tricks. Meanwhile, said shorebird mixed some sort of solution in his mouth. His cheeks bulged comically as water was pumped into his maw; then, the mixture complete, he spurted the liquid out in front of him. Instead of sinking into the permeable soil, though, it just sat there in a sticky puddle, quivering. Räsvelg prodded it experimentally before nodding to himself and making a hacking noise, as if he was trying to cough up phlegm, and a little globule of a strangely iridescent substance flew through the air to land in the puddle with a little plop. Immediately upon contact, the water writhed and frothed, heaping upon itself again and again until another jelly-Pandive was called into being. This one, though, was noticeably smaller than the previous one.

Rose raised an eyebrow at the Pokemon look-alike, ill at ease with its blank, reflective eyes boring into her. Regardless she stretched her jaws open in a yawn, drawing in a huge breath as she did so, making sure she made the sound of intake quite exaggerated. Unfortunately for her, Räsvelg’s Substitute quickly scooted in front of its master, blocking the sight from the real Pandive. Hearing his four opponents’ overstated lethargy, he couldn’t suppress a chuckle.

Rose’s yawn was abruptly cut off when she heard Räsvelg chortle, and an offended expression became plastered onto her face. What cheap tactics! She snorted and started to trot towards the expressionless avatar in front of her, three other Eevees trailing behind – when something resembling a blue comet streaked out from behind the structure. Räsvelg, with talons extended, shredded the first Eevee with no trouble at all, for it proved to be only a clone, but the second cat-like Pokemon was very real indeed. Rose shrieked as sharp claws tore wounds into her side; even though the electricity surrounding her coat made Räsvelg shy away and unconsciously soften the blows, the sharpened weapons hurt a lot. The other two clones fizzled away as Rose’s concentration snapped.

Regaining her footing, the Eevee glared at her opponent before letting loose with another yawn. It was a comical retaliation at best, since it was once again blocked by Räsvelg’s ever-faithful Substitute, and though the pseudo-gryphon’s eyelids dropped slightly, it was due to fatigue and not sleepiness.

Despite his obvious exhaustion, the Pandive managed to scoot around his Substitute and surround his tail with a shimmering curtain of water, quite a difficult task now that his elemental affinity with water had been hidden away. Nevertheless, he brought it down with smashing force on Rose’s shoulder. She was knocked down with a cry from the sheer force as water sprayed everywhere, the fur on her side quickly becoming drenched. Räsvelg stepped back, panting slightly as a result of the strong attack, while the waterlogged Eevee staggered back onto trembling paws.

By now it was painfully obvious in Rose’s mind that Yawn would do nothing more than amuse her opponent. And she was not going to make a fool of herself again. She took a deep breath and poured energy into her mouth to form a brilliant white sphere, then exhaled suddenly, blowing forth a shower of energy pellets. Each speck unfurled into a yellowish razor-edged star, and each star swerved towards the Substitute to cut numerous shallow wounds all over its wobbly form. Even after the starry assault, the structure had sufficient life force to remain solid, though it sagged at the bottom.

Ah, erm... The attack guide didn't mention Yawn in Substitute's description, so I suppose it's another change in attack behaviours in ASB?

Anyway, I know it's for future reference, but I'm still willing to re-ref the eighth round, since I've only got the calculations for the ninth done. Dragon, Kratos, want it re-reffed or not?

Based on the TCG.

Räsvelg sat back on his haunches, head down and chest heaving from need of oxygen, as the seventeen stones around the field shifted their hues from yellow-white and dull purple to a greyish tone. From there on, the colours moved independently, one stone leaning towards a dark blue while another switched back to yellow, and yet another decided on green. Eventually, nine of the stones insisted on an ethereal grey-purple, while the remaining eight shone a deep forest green. As her vision became momentarily edged with mauve, Rose suddenly felt as insubstantial as the air around her. Räsvelg, however, was far too battered and fatigued to notice anything but a slight tingle.

Several shouts of encouragement from his trainer brought the shorebird back to earth. He reluctantly raised his head so his open maw pointed at Rose and took a long, deep breath. The temperature in his throat cooled rapidly, the cold biting at his usually tolerant gullet, as he exhaled. Ice crystals formed even as the gust blew by, freezing bits of moisture in the atmosphere. Rose shuddered involuntarily as the Icy Wind passed by her, leaving a thin coating of ice on her fur.

That was far from enough to deter the cat-like Pokemon, though, and she crouched on the grass with a growl. Räsvelg remained impassive, too tired to dodge – he had his Substitute, anyway. And just as he expected, the blobby structure leapt in front of him just as Rose waggled her rump and pounced. The force of the impact, as well as the Eevee’s weight, was too much for the half-dead copy to bear, and it folded underneath Rose’s belly, reverting back into its previous liquid state. Rose backed away, an expression of disgust on her face, as she pawed ineffectually at her wet belly fur. Her sopping wet coat only made her shiver even more.

Räsvelg cared little about his devastated Substitute: one step closer to getting recalled and being able to rest. Silently he made a resolution to remain motionless for at least a few weeks after the battle. Slowly he focused on various unhealthy substances present in his body and diverted them into his stomach, which contracted to bring the unappetizing sludge into his mouth. He gurgled in protest as the foul taste seared his throat, and leaned over hastily to spit the solution all over his opponent. Rose squealed in protest, obviously not enjoying the experience of being coated in viscous fluids – toxic slush, no less! She chattered in annoyance and crouched down again. Räsvelg regarded her with suspicion, but did nothing more. Disappointed at her opponent’s inactivity, Rose rushed forward with reckless speed, easily bowling over her unresisting foe and crushing him to the ground. The Pandive grunted in protest and pushed her off, but it was a difficult movement. Black dots danced along the borders of his vision, making him feel dizzy and distorted.

Nevertheless, he was ready for his final stand. Summoning his now-concealed flying type, Räsvelg coated his pointed talons with the faint essence of the sky. Rose had just flicked a purple droplet off of her ear when she was struck by a blue and white ray; at least, that was what it looked like, but what hit her was very much corporal. Räsvelg had moved so fast that his enemy didn’t sense him until it was too late. Blood welled out of three diagonal wounds, and the Eevee whimpered in pain – suddenly she wasn’t sure if she could take on the Pokemon after Räsvelg.

She should be able to knock out the overgrown shorebird, at the very least. She bunched up her hind legs again, her tail sweeping across the grass and her paws kneading the ground in anticipation. Another moment and she was off, bowling Räsvelg into the ground so his face was shoved into the dirt, one wing pinned underneath his body. He screeched in protest, voice fuzzy with pain – but he was conscious, conscious and still able to fight. Rose bit back a wail of despair.

As the auras faded away from their hosts and the Pokemon welcomed their native elements back, Räsvelg coughed. Rose spared him an inquisitive glance. He gagged and coughed once more, clutching at his stomach, then collapsed on the ground, out cold: the poison had done him in.
