• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

    Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

    Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

As much we all like to play games here, I'm sure we enjoy watching some of the amazing things people have done on games as well... Like those who blow through a Mega man game in an hour, or some of those insane fighting game combos. Youtube is generally a place these people go to show off some of things they've done, impress others they do...

So, that brings the question, what are some things other people have done that made your jaw put a hole into your floor?

Here are three that wowed me in particular;

First, Nore139's Tales of Vesperia Combo Exhibition. Vesperia's Evolved Flex Range LMBS already already allows for some pretty impressive combos, but when you're not spamming Yuri's Shining Fang, or Rita's Violent Pain and Gold Cat, combos generally require precise timing, and alot of thinking ahead of what you're going to do next in order to keep the combo going. This game obviously encourages comboing, as shown through the massively broken Overlimits (Infinite Artes/Spell chaining for 10 seconds? I'd say it's broken. Yuri's Tension Skills take it to the next level), and Skills that put your character's damage input at 1. And this is a video showing some of the combos one can do. A nice little glitch in the game (FS Cancelling) brings hundreds more possibilities.

Secondly; ARGH I'M SUCH A TALES FREAK- And this guy must have hands for feet, Tales of Destiny Party Combo MAD. Not only is this my (2nd) favorite Tales game, it's arguably the best in the series (Sorry Destiny, but I like Rebirth just a little bit more. The Aerial LMBS allows for some nice... Well, aerials, and the CC (Chain Capacity) system is a godsend... It removes the need for ANY TP whatsoever, and lets you chain ANY move you want into another move of your choice. And no, before anyone asks, there's no hacking to get 4 of the same character to fight at the same time. There are accessories, called "Narikiri *Insert Playable Character Here*", which, when equipped, will make the equipped character take the form of that character with their weapon, and Artes/Tokugi. The player can buy any amount of these, and it makes it possible to use Lion, even after he's died.

Tales of Rebirth boss fight
My favorite Tales game. And possibly the hardest story-line boss in the game (After Geyorkias) in probably the hardest Tales game. These 4 players make her seem like practically nothing, and at Level 47, on Unknown difficulty no less! I honestly have NO idea how they manage to combo this boss so... So massively. When I fight her, she ends up jumping out of mine after 40 or so hits... This is the very pinnacle of teamwork (And this is the ONLY game in the series that actually encourages play with friends in order to really do well. Not that the AI doesn't do a nice job themselves). This was also the first real gameplay I had seen of Rebirth (Since Youtube and the like weren't around when the game came out in '02), back in '05, and it was my breaking point in buying swap magic for my PS2 xD

Banana Shiki

This guy is just... Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket is the only thing I have to say about that... The mixups in the beginning, followed by some nice mindgames... Sure it looks like spamming, but it's far from that if you play any 2D fighters. The guy simply threw out 7-Nights slashes like they were yesterday's fad, and when his opponent got in close, unexpectedly goes for some nice, quick, clean hits, or nice swipe with Death Perception... This guy is proof as to why and how Full Moon Shiki in Actress Again is so OPed.

Well, I did something "amazing" on a game once myself, if this counts...

In Super Mario 64 DS, when in the clock world, I got into one of these things that throws you away, and it threw me into some place with a Power Star you only were supposed to be able to get to if getting there in a special way.

Completely unintentional.

As far as I know - I'm likely wrong on this, because I didn't look around a lot on other forums beforehand - I think I'm the one who unintentionally found the Fire Fang Wondertomb glitch. Some bastard pulled one on me even when I said "no hacks", and I was stuck with my old Garchomp. So I just tossed around random moves waiting for my inevitable death, and then Fire Fang hit and both me and the lame guy were all "wtf" on the mic.

I didn't hear of anyone else mentioning the glitch until a bit after I announced my "discovery" on the Pokemon Crater forums I went on at the time. I started a board with all sorts of speculation and testing to figure out if there were any other moves that did that; one of my theories was that, instead of actually making you immune, it meant only the types Shedinja (the only legit Wonder Guard user) were weak to could hit you. But me and a bunch of other people tried with moves like Stone Edge and Crunch, and got nowhere. I got suspended for posting on a spam board, though, so I couldn't keep posting; eventually I just quit, even after my suspension ended.

Anyway. Like I said, I'm probably wrong and someone probably knew about it a long time before me, but eh.

Super Mario 64 discoveries

If you read through those topics far enough, I doubt any more needs to be said.

I did that myself, actually. Pretty surprising.

I saw a YouTube vid of the Home Run contest in Brawl where the guy got it to go 10,000ft or so. And it didn't even say "new record!" at the end o.o;;
To someone who struggles to even hit the bastard the right way, that's quite impressive :3

I think my favorite (not counting obscure games) would be this 10 minute Fallout run. The first Fallout, that is. Really surprised me when I saw you could beat this game in 10 minutes, despite the amount of depth in the game and just how much stuff you can do.

Beating Boss Battles on Intense in SSBB. That is definetely Brawl's hardest challenge. One life, no continues, and bosses nigh impossible. It took me nearly a year to beat the stupid mode, but here is a video of someone who beat the mode not only just over five minutes, but also two weeks after the game came out for America.
