Take me to Wonderland
It had been four years since the Carnival had harvested it's newest members for the troupe. Four years of endless training and shows, watching performer after performer be slaughtered when unable to uphold the standards of the Ring Master. Now the show had returned to where the performers once called home, forced to watch friends and family walk through the tent flap to watch the last show of their and your lives.
But there is something else about this night, something different about this crowd that no one can quite place. The old mechanical birds seem to be filled with new vigor with this however, looking excited from the feeling in the air this time around. None of you are sure though if this is a good sign or not but the look on the Ring Master's eyes seems to imply he is on edge. Stepping into the light, the Ring Master tips his hat to the crowd and begins his usual greeting.
"Welcome one and all to our traveling carnival of joy and amusement. Look upon our actors this night and marvel at the flock of mechanical birds known far and wide by our show. Now don't be shy my brothers and sisters, enjoy yourselves and laugh with us as we entertain you at large.
Watch as the Lion Tamers defy death, the Trapeze soar through the air as graceful as birds, the Knife Thrower risking the safety of their partner tied to a wheel. Then of course, lets not forget the Clowns that will tickle your funny bone until you are mad yourself with glee.
Laugh with us and enjoy your life. This will be the last day you can do it freely "

ROLES
Mafia
Ring Master: You run this show, as your father had and his before him, keeping the magic alive within the tent. You pride yourself on trapping the performers within forever, but you know that your record is not flawless. One had escaped from you, something you will not allow happen again as long as the magic is alive. All performers will return to the Carnival one way or another.
Heir to the Ring: You are older now, more confident in your skills for when the time comes for you to take over for your Father. You don't know why he seems to be on edge at this show, but you have faith that it can't be anything you both can not handle. If your Father does come to a untimely death however, you are ready to take up the cane and hat to keep the show going.
New Recruit: Between the last show and this one, you have joined the Carnival as a young runaway looking for a purpose in life. For all you know this is a normal Carnival set to thrill and excite the audience with fantastic shows, even if the theme is to give them a little scare during it. You don't believe anything sinister is happening under the tent and you will do anything you can to keep your new home. Even if you have to pick up the cane and hat if both the Ring Master and his child died somehow.
Innocent
Lion Tamer: You and your Lion are closer than the crowd might know. You play rough in the stage, but beneath it all you know your jungle friend would not harm you. With him at your side, you can find those with blood on their hands during the night. You and your Lion don't know however if the one with the blood on their hands is friend or foe, but that they have tried or succeeded in killing someone at one point.
Trapeze: You live for the heights of the Carnival, agile and quick with your change ups. Had this place been a normal fair, you would be happy to remain in the act and live your life above the cheering crowd. From this height, you have witnessed all that has happened in the Carnival, things you never wished to have known. From here, you can even watch one of your fellow troupe members in the dark to see if they did anything during the night, though you can't be sure if what they were doing was innocent or not.
Strong Man: You pride yourself on your strength since before you were brought into the troupe, worked on your body for years to the sculpted form it takes now. The magic over the Carnival had only increased your strength, allowing you to lift things impossible otherwise. Had this place been of a better magic, you would revel in the magistracy of it all until the end. Sadly, that is not the case, the magic that holds over you and traps you here is the only thing your strength can't break. However, with your strength, comes a certain protection if you ever needed it. During the night, if you are to be killed by whomever it is under the darkness, you will survive the night but your protection falters after if there is a second attempt.
Knife Thrower: You are highly skilled with your circus tools and trade. No one can be better than you at this, or so you want to believe, so you show off your marksmanship as often as you can for the cheering crowd. You are eager and rash, a embodiment of energy and raw talent, often times getting you in trouble with one of the other performers. With your knives, you are able to hit your mark if no one gets in the way during the night, but you can only part with one of your beauties least you lose them all by the Ring Master taking them away from you.
Side Show: You did not come here by choice, none of the others had, but they were at least taken during a show. You however were plucked up off the side of a road, kidnapped for your obvious deformities so to be turned even more vile and exaggerated to look at. You were normal before the magic had its hold over you, now unable to even move properly and forced to stay in a cage like a beast. You would do anything to get out, but you know that there would be no other place for you, the fact of this the only reason you stay with this cursed troupe. All it takes however to make you snap is if someone hurt you one last time during the shifty dealings under the dark. All it takes is that one last twist of the knife for you to finally give up and not care who gets hurt during the day if you fall under the axe for deeds you never did. However, if they don't provoke you after that last betrayal, you will die a quick death during the night. If they cast you out to the axe in the day without you being harmed during the night, the same follows with you dying quickly.
Clown: You are supposed to be a happy fool to keep everyone laughing and having fun. That is the basics of being a clown, yet here you are trapped in the Carnival unable to make any other facial expressions than a painted on smile and a vocabulary limited to honk sounds and laughing. One good thing though about all this is that you are very distracting and able to keep someone busy through the entire night so they are unable to do anything else or become a target themselves since you will not be leaving them alone in the dark that night.
Magician: Master of illusion, Salton of mystery, you have the power to trick and tease the eyes of all those that watch your act. With the magic of the Carnival influencing your acts, you can bring to life the images of others as a body double with a flick of your wrist. This smoke and mirror trick will serve you well during the night, as you can cast this spell to save the life of another of your choosing. But with each spell you cast, you must wait a night before casting it again.
Outsiders
The Stranger: You had escaped this Nightmare long ago when you were just a teenager. You joined the Carnival young when you were lost, you were treated well and taught how to throw knives as well as juggle. But you learned the dark secret that laid behind the laughter and fun, how those iconic mechanical birds were made and where all the other performers went when they 'moved on'. You were scared then and fled as far as you could before the magic could bind you to the troupe. Yet here you are again when the Carnival returned once more to reap the people for new talents. You are done running from this, from your past, now that you are an adult. You bought a ticket for the show and hid yourself within the crowd, watching the Ring Master grow on edge. He knows that someone has come to end his fun, he just isn't sure where you are hiding now. Each night, you take a hold of your dagger and aim to either free a member of the troupe peacefully or hunt down the Ring Master and those that follow him to end the spell once and for all. You need to be careful who you take each night, least you set yourself up for more trouble during the day.
Ticket Holders: You just bought a ticket to see the show, not get pulled into a living nightmare of being kidnapped from your seat and forced to be part of the show.
*Note. Those killed at night will have their role revealed along with their name. Those killed in the Day will only be described as Innocent or Mafia.
