Emergency-reffing this round.
Grass King vs. Whivit: Round Three
Arena: Lake of Rage
The lake in Johto, just north of Mahogany Town. After three rounds, the Red Gyarados will appear, and there is a 10% chance of a Pokemon getting hit by its Hyper Beam once per round, which does 7% damage. The battle takes place at the edge of the lake, so trainers can use both land-dwelling and water-bound Pokemon.
Long after the battlers get antsy - one of them, in fact, seems to be off enjoying a spot of tea or something - an emergency referee finally arrives at the Lake of Rage. Introducing himself as Jack, he hurriedly gets the battle rolling again.

Round Three: begin!
Carefully watching from the shore as the blue robot and its weird rocky substitute float above the water, Chiot allows more flames to emerge from his gullet. Although smaller and weaker than the Fire Blast he’d recently emitted, the
embers that he spits out onto his paw are enough to activate his special ability. There aren’t any physical effects of this activation, except that his coat almost seems to turn a deeper red; on the other hand, invisible to both battlers, the flames deep in Chiot’s esophagus flare up incredibly, and Chiot now finds it difficult to keep the fire from constantly coming up and flaring through his teeth.
Falcata chuckles at this under its breath. Fire won’t do the Growlithe any good when he’s struggling to stay above the water’s surface. With a twirl of its arms, Falcata brusquely breaks into the little dog’s mind with its
psychic powers, throwing him into the lake with a heavy splashing noise and holding him down at the bottom. Chiot struggles to take back control of his body, unable to breathe underwater, but Falcata’s power is too strong for him. Even the referee is a bit squeamish about this; drowning a battler (even though Chiot would completely recover when recalled to his Pokeball) seems a little bit too sadistic. The move is technically legal, though, so the battle goes on.
<Chiot: -15H, -1E / Attack +2, Speed +2, badly poisoned, Safeguarded / unable to breathe>
<Falcata: -0H, -6E / normal status / murderously calm>
The Growlithe gasps as Falcata’s control fades. In a panic and reverting to his instincts, he can’t think of anything but his commands. As he slowly floats upwards, Chiot tries to let loose a fiery breath, but the attempted
flamethrower does nothing more than heat up the water and cause bubbles of steam to appear on the surface.
Falcata, on the other hand, is clear-headed and perfectly in control. It directs its psychic attacks this time toward the lake bed, rolling the rocks and boulders to surround Chiot, who is left floating a few feet above the lake bed inside a tight pillar of rock. Without warning, the pillar collapses, forcing Chiot back to the floor of the lake and leaving nothing visible but a pile of
rocks that uncomfortably reminds the Trainers of a
tomb.
<Chiot: -10H, -4E / Attack +2, Speed +2, badly poisoned, Safeguarded / almost blacking out>
<Falcata: -0H, -6E / normal status / satisfied>
Nearing unconsciousness now, Chiot is unable to do more than weakly
struggle to escape. Incredibly luckily, though, the dog’s flailing loosens some smaller rocks, creating a small hole in the rock pile, just wide enough to wiggle through. The Growlithe’s vision is caked with blackness as he finally reaches the surface, taking deep breaths of fresh air.
Does the surface count as “out of the water”? Falcata wonders about its commands. In any case, it’s not about to give the dog any chance for comfort now, and in seconds has retaken its
psychic control of Chiot’s mind, forcing him underwater yet again. In the distance, Falcata notices some immense red fish firing off energy beams, but for now the battlers are safe from it, even if not from each other.
<Chiot: -19H, - 4E / Attack +2, Speed +2, badly poisoned / not much better>
<Falcata: -0H, -6E / normal status / ready for a more difficult opponent to come along>

Arena status:
Rain is pouring down. (2 rounds remaining.)
Near the coast, there is a hole, about the width around of a Growlithe. The tunnel has been collapsed, but the soil is less dense than usual for several meters down. If a Pokemon wanted to use Dig here, it would probably be less tiring than usual to do.

2. Random number generator used: @

3. According to the Attacks and Abilities Guide, Flash Fire can no longer be activated by one’s own attack, but since these commands were given before it was changed I guess it’ll go by the old rule for this round only.
4. According to Round 2, Metang has a +2 Speed boost but I can’t figure out how it got it, so I’m ignoring it.
5. Chiot, being a Fire-type, is taking damage from being underwater, starting at 2% and increasing for every action he remains underwater.
6. Chiot’s Flamethrower failed because he was underwater. On the third action, he used Struggle because, being tightly enclosed by Rock Tomb, there wasn’t much else he could do.
7. Whivit will attack first next round.
