Which rewrite rules have you tried, and what isn't working? Are you just not seeing any results? Are you getting an error of some sort?
 
I tried using Options +FollowSymLinks, but I don't think my server allows it. I keep getting 500 Errors.
 
No, I mean the actual rewrite rule. Like

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?p=$1 [QSA,L]

only whatever you're using. Whatever you've got for RewriteBase and RewriteCond would probably help, too.
