• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Finally, poetry!

Sunlight streams through your hair
Turning it gold
Your smile lights the room

My head on your shoulder
Your arm around me
And I look at you

You smile at me
And in your eyes I see
Every word I've ever said to you
Reflected back at me

Here and now
In this golden moment
It's hard to believe that there is anything in the world

But you and me

Ever

i hope you're okay
Pronoun

The emptiness envelopes me
The silence is suffocating
My heart is nothing but an empty shell

Where fury once raged
There is only nothingness
All my hatred is gone
Replaced by a void

And tears that aren't coming

A quaver in my voice
Is all that betrays my hollowness
My hands shake
My eyes are empty

The place where you were yeilds nothing
Your voice echoes through my skull
But I don't even hear

Your face burns my eyes
Your touch is scalding
Your voice claws at my soul

Nothing to feel
No sound comes from my dry lips
My eyes show naught but emptiness

Nothing will be the same tomorrow
And yet all will be as it was

Ever

i hope you're okay

One of my best songs, IMO.

MOONLIGHT

Moonlight
Starshine
But all I see is you
You brighten even the darkest night
And warm the coldest room

Could you meet me by the moonlight so we can be alone?
Hold me in your arms like you'll never let go
Kiss me here beneath the stars tonight

No one
Here now
Nothing stand in our way
You hold me here and kiss my lips
And everything's okay

Your touch
Is magic
All that matters is you
Your presence beside me makes me strong and
I need you here with me

Could you meet me by the moonlight so we can be alone?
Hold me in your arms like you'll never let go
Kiss me here beneath the stars

Could you meet me by the moonlight so we can be alone?
Hold me in your arms like you'll never let go
Kiss me here beneath the stars tonight
Tonight everything will be all right

Does it wound weird to say "by the moonlight"?

Oops sorry I forgot about this thread. Have some songs.

FALLING (whup this one's old!)

My hands shake
And my world is falling to pieces
My heart breaks
With every word you say

I'm falling now
And there's no one to catch me
Dropping from the skies
And nothing breaks my fall

Bridges burned
And now I'm drowning in my own mistakes
The world spins before my eyes as I spiral to the ground
And I'm falling, falling

I'm falling now
And there's no one to catch me
Dropping from the skies
And nothing breaks my fall

Save me
Catch me before I shatter on the ground
Rescue me from the terror I have brought upon myself

I'm falling now
And there's no one to catch me
Dropping from the skies
And nothing breaks my fall

HERE I STAND (IF I LET YOU GO)

Here I stand
Caught between my heart and my better judgment
I'm on the edge
I don't think I know what's right anymore

Secrets that should have been told a long time ago
Are only coming out today
You've kept me in the dark and now I don't know who to trust

Here I stand
Caught between my heart and my better judgment
I'm on the edge
I don't think I know what's right anymore

Should I leave or should I stay
You say you love me but I don't know what to do now

If I let you go
What will I do without you
If I let you go
How will I carry on

Here I stand
Caught between my heart and my better judgment
You've kept me in the dark and now I don't know who to trust

But if I let you go
How will I carry on

MIRROR, MIRROR

I look into the mirror and I look into my eyes
I look into the mirror and I realise
That I don't know the girl looking back at me

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who will catch me when I fall
Not the girl starting back at me
I don't know her

Mirror, mirror, help me see
Help me find the girl who's me
She's slipped away from my grasp
I can't find her

I look at my reflection staring back at me
I look at my reflection and suddenly I see
I;m not the girl I used to be

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who will catch me when I fall
Not the girl starting back at me
I don't know her

I look into the mirror and I look into my eyes
I look into the mirror and I realise
That I don't know the girl looking back at me

Hi friends. Similar to my art thread, this has lain dormant for quite a while. I took a long break from writing, but recently I've picked it back up in part due to the fact that I now have a guitar!

Basically, I've been trying to write instead of cutting. It hasn't really worked. This song was inspired by a series of texts exchanged with a close friend.

Pretty girl with cuts on her arm and a smile on her face and pain in her heart
Best friend with secrets so dark and emotions so deep and she's scarred
Pretty girl wit death on her mind and she's not the only one of her kind
Smile bright and don't show the pain
There's too much to lose and there's nothing to gain

I'm sitting on the floor with my guitar and it's tough
Hard to know that I'll never be perfect enough
Sad to think this way, I just have to tell you
The thoughts come a lot and they're not very pretty
But at least I'm better than bad.

Pretty girl, you think she looks perfect, you ask how she does it, you don't want to know
"Perfect figure" "my god she's so tiny" "where does she put it" "she's just skin and bones"
Pretty girl, she's skipping her meals and running for hours, that's what you don't know
Don't eat dinner, you need to be thinner, all that fat has to go

I'm sitting on the floor with my guitar and it's tough
Hard to know that I'll never be pretty enough
Sad to think this way, I just have to tell you
The thoughts come a lot and they're not very pretty
But at least I'm better than bad

Don't cry, silly girl, it's not that bad
Don't make your friends worry or your parents sad
You can fake a smile, pretend you're okay
It's not that bad any way

Pretty girl, she stays in her room, it don't feel good when they're laughing at you
It's all in her head but it tears her apart
Every god-awful word like a knife in her heart
Pretty girl, she cries all alone, but she'll pick up the phone and tell you she's okay

And the thoughts that come, no they're not very pretty
But at least they're better than bad.

Also some short snippets that may or may not be developed:

Our planet is two-thirds water
So what what does it matter
If there's water in my eyes?
And there are seven billion people
So who even cares if another girl cries?
Why do we exist if it is only to live and to die?
What are we existing for and why do we try?

Of course I love you
But there is only room in my heart for two
So excuse me if I love pain too much to set myself free
Excuse me if I love sadness more than I love me
