For the most part, this is a fairly vanilla place. However, each round, there is a 15% chance that one of the following events will occur on a randomly selected action:

50%: The Beaconian anthem will play, thus causing everyone on the arena to stop battling and stand at attention as the Beaconian flag is paraded through.
15%: The Beaconian second-in-command Aviculor will run through the town, with the Pokemon trailing him badly poisoning all combatants.
25%: The Pyromaniac will run through the town, burning all combatants.
10%: A golden statue belonging to the Q.U.I.R. will have been captured and thrown into the arena. It will fall on a random combatant, causing 5% typeless damage. After this occurs, all battlers will gain an extra $6 after the battle is over.

Heeey you forgot to mention Envy's Dusk Stone :(

I believe Zero would be the best choice in this situation.

I think that annoyance is the way to go here. Use Confuse Ray if it is not confused and open for attack. Use Signal Beam if it's confused or has a Sub up, and use Calm Mind if it protects.

Signal Beam/Confuse Ray/Calm Mind x3

Let's see how this works out.

god i hate going firsttt

Also, I'm PMing you about the arena's quirks.

Hmmm.

Protect on the first round, then use Swords Dance. Finally, if you are not confused, try out a GrassWhistle. If you are well crap i'm screwed Thunder Punch

A white shape, somewhat resembling a circle, marked the asphalt concrete. At two points on its limits, stood big signs. Both read, "GO AWAI COS THERES PPL BATLIN'".

Three people took position around the rough circumference, and one of them began to remind the other two of the match's specific rules. Most remarkably, that projectiles shouldn't be used when it's hard to aim, and moves with an extremely wide range, such as Earthquake, were to be completely avoided. The two trainers understood that these were measures taken to avoid civilian casualties. Then, the referee signaled for them to commence the battle.

On one side of the field, a green, spiky and round Pokémon was sent out. He looked like he had just seen a ghost. Not merely one, but, quite a few. Careful not to pierce his own head, he put his arms up, trying to defend himself.

On the opposite side, what took shape was a floating, round and metallic being. First thing, it took a second to notice the weather, which, much to its pleasure, was not that sunny.

Commands were issued and the Pokémon turned around to face each other. Rehabit was still covering his face with his arms then.

Zero watched carefully, and began to notice something surrounding its foe. Perhaps that was Protect being used. Choosing to play it safely, it closed its eyes and shut out whatever other senses it had, entering a deep state of meditation.

Beggining to think he could run but he could not hide, the Cacnea on the other side of the field decided to fight the ghosts around him. And nothing could be better for such than the order he had received for now: a Swords Dance. He began to punch and dodge, battling what seemed to be thin air -- and was thin air, though, under his perception, it was a phantom. This warm-up increased his focus greatly.

At that point, the opposing Bronzor was already back to feeling the material world. It prepared to follow its orders, approaching the foe and carefully calculating his eyesight's range. Having caught the target's attention, it floated to a strategical spot, one where an abnormal amount of sunlight would suddenly converge into the opponent's eyes.

The cactus Pokémon flinched at first. When he opened his eyes again, the ghosts had become colorful, for some reason.

After a few practice swings on the air, Rehabit prepared to attack his main enemy. He focused deep and reached for his essence, gathering electric-type power. Then, he sent an electric pulse to the end of his right arm. Then, he leapt and bashed Zero on the top of its body, though he had nearly tripped when he attempted doing so.

As the Cacnea went back to battling the rest of the foes that surrounded him, the Bronzor initiated his counter-attack, also of an unusual type that first required calling out power from deep within. This time, however, it was bug-type power. The circular bumps around its body began to glow red and blue in an alternating pattern. Rays of energy shot from each of them, converging into one beam, one that struck the target on the back while he fought against nothing.

As he stood up, the cactus vowed revenge for such a dirty blow.

Alright, let's try something... different.

Let's take advantage of our friend's nice little ability. Skill Swap, Sandstorm, and Trick Room. Move over your actions if they miss for some reason.

Skill Swap ~ Sandstorm/Skill Swap ~ Trick Room/Sandstorm

For Sandstorm, I want you to summon a sandstorm within only the arena. It shouldn't hit any civilians. You can do that, right?

Both trainers issued commands.

Rehabit was meant to be the one to move first, but, as he prepared to perform his move, he tripped, his face landing right on the harsh asphalt that was the floor.

This distraction Zero enough time to initiate its next move. It traced its opponent's energy signature, then used its psychic powers to alter them both in order to reflect each other. As the move progressed, the user began to float closer to the ground, while the target began to rise. When the deed was done, the Bronzor was on the ground, standing on its two lower bumps, while the Cacnea was as high on the air as his foe was before.

The cactus began to experiment his newfound ability, but remembered that he had to anvil himself down. Sighing, he let his body reach the ground... Only to see the mess in his sense of balance act again, as he landed awkwardly slipped, falling on his back.

As he lifted himself again, his foe was already moving. With a psychic blast, it wrecked a hole in the middle of the arena, revealing a pit of sand buried under the asphalt. Zero began to spin around, using its powers to summond the sand and spread it around the arena. When the deed was done, a sandstorm covered most of the area within the limits described by the white form.

Rehabit was surprised to find that sandstorm annoying. After all, he recalled being used to this kind of thing.

He began to wait for an attack... Which never came. Instead, his enemy entered a state of deep focus, sensing the flow of time. With a wild surge of its brain waves, it proceeded to alter the flow of time, switching its direction.

Everyone in the arena began to feel the effects of the Trick Room. Some felt faster, others felt slower.

Realizing that his opponent was not going to attack after all, the Cacnea initiated his own attack, summoning Dark-type powers from his essence. As his fists became laced with the bitter energy, he tried to find a reason to hate Zero, but couldn't. Instead, he merely threw a spineless, motivation-lacking arm swing. Though actually finding the target took some effort, the attack hit square.

The sandstorm was still annoying him.

Just as the Pokémon received their commands, their trainers heard steps and unrecognizable noises. They found it weird, but, for the time being, chose to ignore it. Though not without staying wary.

Zero and Rehabit faced each other, about to spring to action, when the footfalls approached... And, at last, the situation was crystal clear.

Everybody turned their attentions to one side of the road, where a parede passed by. The Beaconian anthem was playing, the red-and-yellow Beaconian flag was visible... Basically, it was a Beaconian spectacle. The battlers ignored their orders; the Bronzor tried to but miserably failed at saluting, while the Cacnea swung his arm above his head, his confusion putting him in danger yet sparing him at the same time.

When the opponents turned around and prepared to return to battle, they noticed that they had completely forgotten how they were meant to open the round. Nonetheless, they carried on, using their last two commands.

Zero's gaze suddenly gained a fierce red hue, and met straight with the target's eyes. Wariness covered him, but, somehow, he had a newfound urge to not resist the incoming attack.

Successful in gaining the foe's attention, the Bronzor then unleashed two circular rows of brain waves, that entered the Cacnea and messed with his internal functions, programming him to rest.

His eyelids felt heavy. His consciousness began to drift. He couldn't resist crashing to the ground, falling sound asleep.

The bronze mirror Pokémon awaited for a bit, and then, proceeded to initiate his next move. His eyes began to glow again; this time, they emitted a pink flash. Its gaze met the cactus' body straight, and a strange sort of phenomenon began to appear around him. A white, glowing wisp. It began to flicker, then flew towards Zero, the lumps on its body glowing and absorbing the physically manefisting dream.

The Bronzor closed his eyes, feeling the burst of health regain flow through its body, while Rehabit tossed and turned, clearly finding discomfort in being struck by the Dream Eater attack, as well as the sandstorm.

Looking not very interested, both trainers issued one command to be plastered all over the fourth round.

Zero made the first move, eyes glowing deep pink like the other time. Once again, he turned the fabric of the target's dream visible, sucking it into its body; this time, however, rather than revitalized, it looked invigorated. Perhaps that's because what he chose to do with the absorbed products was different.

Despite being devoid of whatever dream he was having, Rehabit stated to mumble. He stood up and begam to stumble towards the enemy. He began to whisper random words; then, his sentences began to get more comprehensible. As he said "kid... gloves... come... off", he swung his spiked arm against the opponent. It was tossed back, but didn't appear to have received a lot of damage.

Noticing that the foe was dreaming again, the Bronzor repeated its last move, with all the familiar eye glowing and wisp pulling.

The Cacnea began to attack again; after a shorter amount of meaningless banter, he spat a cloud of spores straight into the foe. They clung tightly into its metallic body, which, for a known reason, actually made it feel faster than before.

Using the newfound speed, the bronze mirror Pokémon proceeded to use the same Dream Eater a fourth time. The continuous dream-eating brought its enemy considerable discomfort; it seemed to be close to waking up. Except, instead of so doing, the cactus began to spin around, swinging his arms against the air, with further undecifrable talk.

Suddenly, the flow of time began to adjust itself, flowing in the right direction again. Zero felt unnaturally slow, while a sudden burst of speed struck Rehabit as well as the raking sandstorm; with these two factors taken into account, it was a wonder that it wasn't awakened yet.

As the sandstorm raged on, though considerably thinner than it was earlier, both sides issued their commands for the round.

Zero was about to move, when his focus was broken by the fact his opponent began to blink. He no longer slept; instead, he began to stumble, still having the sense of direction slightly scrambled.

Lifting himself up to the air again, he stretched his arms back and summoned his Fire-type powers. Merely by using these, he made the clouds on the sky scatter away and the sand stand still on the ground. The sun was now flaring up on the arena.

Suddenly, the opposing Bronzor began to be reminded of that one time, over a certain hole containing sticky material. The painful memories riled it up; it took no time to proceed with its move. Its lack of proper body fluids made it harder than ordinary, but nonetheless, it managed to form a foul mixture to spit up. It landed square on Rehabit's face, and effortlessly entered his insides.

Facing the bright sun, the Cacnea began to use his next move. He focused deeply, then forced his metabolism to work faster, absorbing sunlight energy faster. Though this revitalized him to a great extent, speeding his metabolism up took a toll on him.

The bronze mirror Pokémon saw his efforts slipping away, and vowed it wouldn't happen again. It connected its mind with the foe's, then deactivated his natural recovery functions. That would stop him from doing away with the punishment he deserves for bringing all this sunlight in.

Rehabit's directional problems began to act up again, as he hit his own face in an attempt to use the next move. Hopefully, he didn't imaple himself; however, the boosts to his Attack made a difference there.

He got in a daze after such strike, and paid absolutely no attention to Zero's attempts to hypnotize him. The lack of visual contact made its move fail, much to its frustration.

Set up a Sandstorm for your sake. Then, just spam Hypnosis till it goes sleepy-boo. Dream Eater (energy) if you get it to go to sleep.

I'm hoping for an energy kill here.

Arena: Mareepolis
The capital of Beaconia, Mareepolis is a small city most well known for its large bronze Mareep statue in the town square. This battle takes place in the streets within an area 10 meters long, where a crude Pokeball has been drawn in the center of the arena.

Arena status: Sunny Day is active (12 more actions). Sand is scattered all over the arena. There's a deep hole in the center of the ring, with some sand at the bottom.

-----

As the trainer issued commands, they heard a maniacal laughter. It sounded higher and higher, indicating that the source was approaching the arena. The stench of smoke began to find its way into the nostrils of all who had them.

Suddenly, a man in a torn, crimson sweater revealed himself. He let out a loud cackle, then proceeded to completely ignore the signs that were put up on either side of the arena, entering it as he swung his torches around. RandomThyphoon, who happened to be standing the closest to the Pyromaniac's point of entrance, managed to evade the attacks leaping to the side; her Pokémon, not so much.

The jeans wearing folk then used the moment of shock to set fire on Zero as well. Just as he began to move toward Kam, however, a familiar siren echoed through the streets. The Pyromaniac made his hasty leave as the police began to gave him chase.

Thankfully, trainers and referee were unharmed; however, both Pokémon bore burns on their bodies. Psychologically, however, it was the other way around. While humans were shocked by the sudden "invasion of flames", the creatures that actually battled had their resolve to fight unharmed, although the burns did hurt somewhat.

Doing his best to ignore his new injury, Rehabit floated up high in an attempt to stop the foe from striking, then rested his, erm, cephalothorax on his arms as well as he could without piercing his back.

Little did he know his opponent's plans for that round did not involve targeting him specifically. Instead, the Bronzor launched a psychic surge through the arena and started spinning around, lifting the sand once more. The sun could shine as much as it wanted; the thick barrier formed by grains of sand blocked the light and even a good part of the heat.

The annoyances kept piling up, but, the Cacnea couldn't let them bother him. He kept on trying to regain energy. He even decided to float a bit lower in order to make the chilling more comfortable.

A big mistake. As soon as he looked at his enemy, its eyes gained a red hue, locking the battlers' gazes.

Zero then unleashed a flurry of psychic waves that acted on the cactus Pokémon's brain. The effects began to show themselves, as he began to grow groggy. With a yawn, he finally surrendered, letting himself gently land facefirst on the ground.

The Bronzor's eyes then went from red to pink, as it once more exposed and absorbed the target's dream. The feeling that the energy brought came with the slight discomfort attached to what Rehabit had been draming about this time.

Speaking of discomforts, the Pyromaniac's doing began to become relevant, as both battlers felt the sting of their burns.
