3vs3 single
Style: Set
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: 35%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, moves requiring a source of water
Arena: Shibuya

This battle takes place in the centre of Scramble Crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo, the setting for the game The World Ends With You. Somehow clothes and pins have entirely fallen out of fashion recently, and been replaced in popularity by Pokémon moves. At any one time, there are three majorly popular Pokémon types, which are awarded a damage bonus of x1.5 for the most popular, x1.25 for the second most popular and x1.1 for the third most popular. These start off randomly, but fluctuate as the battle progresses, and changes must be noted by the referee on completion of a round. It is up to the referee to decide what makes one type more popular than another; they may decide it's simply the type that is used most, or that there's a point where repetition gets boring and a new type would be all the rage. Frequency may not even factor into it- a particularly successful move's type might gain major popularity. Again, it's entirely the referee's decision how to work this out.

Additionally each round Noise will appear and attack a random Pokémon. They will also drop a pin, which a Pokémon can sacrifice an action and retrieve, adding a new move to its repertoire until the end of the battle or such time that it discards the pin to pick up a new one. Unclaimed pins vanish when new ones are dropped. There is a 50% chance of each of their two pins being dropped. The Noise that may appear and the pins they drop are as follows:

> Tradishfrog (20% chance of appearing); deals 1% Water damage and drops Frog (Bubblebeam) or Lightning Pawn (Charge Beam)

> Alterna Wolf (15% chance of appearing); deals 2% Normal damage and drops Wolf (Extremespeed) or Cure Drink (Milk Drink) (the Cure Drink pin is discarded after one use)

> Wall of Grizzly (5% chance of appearing); deals 3% Fighting damageand drops Grizzly (Screech) or Wonder Magnum (Fury Attack)

> Death Thrash Mink (10% chance of appearing); deals 2% Flying damage and drops Mink (Razor Wind) or 1000 Yen (adds $1 to the prize money of the trainer whose Pokémon picks it up- can be picked up if the Pokémon has other pins, but no more than 3 can be picked up per Pokémon)

> Shrew Wave (10% chance of appearing); deals 2% Ground damage and drops Shrew (Mud Bomb) or Flower of Flame (Overheat)

> Metal Corehog (5% chance of appearing); deals 3% Steel damage to all Pokémon and drops Corehog (Spike Cannon) or Love Me Tether (Bind)

>Progfox (5% chance of appearing); deals 3% typeless damage to all Pokémon and drops Whirlygig Jiggle (Teleport) or First Gear (Agility)

>Dub Rhino (3% chance of appearing); deals 6% Fighting damage and drops Rhino (Bide) or Rakuyo (Sky Uppercut)

> Carcinosamps (10% chance of appearing); deals 2% Normal damage and drops Strong 'n Proud (Scary Face) or Crackle Pop Barrier (Barrier)

> 2-step Boomer (4% chance of appearing); deals 4% Flying damage with a 30% chance of paralysis, and drops Boomer (Aerial Ace) or Pop Pendulum (Bonemerang)

> Woolly AOR (3% chance of appearing); deals 7% Ground damage to all Pokémon and drops Woolly (Earth Power) or Cosmic Pull (Rock Slide)

> Ragtime Drake (2% chance of appearing); deals 10% Dragon damage and drops Flames Afar, Foes Aflame (Fire Spin) or Drake (Dragon Pulse)

> Pig Mazurka (5% chance of appearing); does not attack. Drops Pig (multiplies prize money by 1.25 if still held at the end of the battle) or a random pin dropped by any of the other Noise.

> Ovis Cantus (1% chance of appearing); deals 10% Dark damage and drops Ovis (Zap Cannon) or Stalwart as the Mount (Curse)

> Leo Cantus (1% chance of appearing); deals 10% Dark damage and drops Leo (Faint Attack) or Fierce as the Flame (gives the holder the Soundproof ability for as long as it holds the pin)

> Tigris Cantus (1% chance of appearing); deals 10% Dark damage and drops Tigris (Ice Fang) or Swift as the Wind (Flash); in any case, always drops Rhyme (Sky Attack) in addition to either of the above.

Other: -No solely water-based Pokémon because there's no water.
- Sprites of pins and Noise are provided to make them more convenient to describe in reffing.

Blazhy's Squad:

[Khao] Quilava (Male)
Ability: Blaze
Signature Move: Cyndaquil are known to be cute and meek little Pokemon. Not only are they small and light, they lack any sort of daunting, lethal weapon that would deter predators or other threats. Their only defense is to curl into a black-and-yellowish ball and flare up their back flames at the first sign of danger.

Khao is a special little cookie - he's far from the stereotypical Cyndaquil. From an early age he's loved adventuring into forests, mountain ranges, and the like, driving his mother mad with worry when he disappeared for days at a time. He always came back, of course, perhaps with only a few bruises, but more often than not covered with wounds of varying sizes. The vicious Pokemon in the wilderness simply were not deterred by a small fire on their prey; after all, there are other areas you can bite or scratch without burning yourself.

Now, Khao was worried that one day, he would run into a particularly fierce Pokemon that would claw him to pieces, back-fire or no. Of course, he figured, the only way to completely deter them was to cover his entire body in flame. No-one would want to bite through a coat of white-hot fire for such a small morsel.

In the beginning, he had no success whatsoever. The flames stubbornly stayed on his back, no matter what he did. Eventually, he found that, by concentrating more energy in his back, he could make the blaze larger and hotter. Finally, after months upon months of practicing, he perfected the technique of swathing his entire body in flame. It took a fair amount of energy, and he wasn't immune to his own flames, but he was satisfied with his progress for now.

Type: Fire / Damage: n/a / Target: Self / Accuracy: 100% / Energy: 1% to activate, 1% for every round it is activated / Duration: For the rest of the battle, or until Khao falls below 30% energy.
Effects: After Khao has been sent out, he may use an action to activate his attribute. It doesn't matter which action it is - it can be the 1st action, it can be activated during the fifth round, whatever. From then on, Khao has the ability Flame Body in addition to all other abilities. It cannot be switched off from that point on, though if Khao ever falls below 30% energy he simply becomes too exhausted to keep up the fire, and it will fade away. Even if energy is restored so that he climbs above 30% energy once more, he won't be able to activate it again. On the flipside, the flames will intensify if he's in great danger - that is, less than 15% healt - so any Pokemon that makes contact with him, friend or foe, will suffer 1% fire-type damage.

After evolution, Khao became more familiar with his own element, and thus became more conservative with his signature move. As a result, the energy upkeep for his move was cut in half.

Obviously, the flames require energy to maintain, and it costs 1% energy per round to maintain this state. Finally, even Khao is not immune to his own fire, so he'll also take 1% damage every round his attribute is active.
Usage Gap: Once per battle

[Ventus] Taillow (Female) @ Electirizer
Ability: Guts

[Garnet] Staryu (N/A) @ Water Stone
Ability: Illuminate

[Yukianesa] Snorunt (Female) @ Dawn Stone
Ability: Inner Focus
Signature Move: Signature Move: Pebble Jet

It's a well-known fact that Snorunt are shy, reclusive creatures, retreating deep into chilly caves to live among the ice and stalagmites come spring. There, they dine on snow, never taking so much as a peek outside until winter arrives once more. After all, why would they? The warmth makes them uncomfortable, there are scary predators outside, and who needs to budge an inch when you've got piles of food in front of your nose?

There are rare occasions when a Snorunt's food supply runs out, but that's not much of a problem, either; all they have to do is scurry out of their cave and find another one. Hoenn has an abundance of caves, after all. In other words, spring and summer are more or less the easiest season's for a Snorunt. Nothing to do but eat, sleep, and eat some more.

Two or so years ago, the summer was incredibly hot and humid, the temperatures reaching above thirty degrees Celsius on almost a daily basis. While it was a horrid time for most living creatures, it was understandably more so for the poor Snorunt. Not only did they feel uncomfortably warm, their precious snow began to melt! While most of the cone-shaped Pokemon hurried to the Shoal Cave, where in the deepest chambers it was cold all year, a few simply could not.

Yukianesa was one of the few.

You see, Yukianesa was born and raised in the Island Cave. Like most of her species, she was timid and easy to scare - so timid, in fact, that she didn't even think of leaving her home until it was too late. Along came spring, thawing the ice that provided her only bridge to the rest of Hoenn. For a while she thought she was safe, since there was always at least some ice in the far corners of the small cavern (that was due to Regice's influence, though she didn't know that), but summer mercilessly melted what little frozen liquid there was left in a matter of days. There was no way for Yukianesa to scamper to other caves - Snorunt, with their stubby arms and legs, simply aren't made to swim - and there were still many, many weeks 'til fall would arrive. So she did the only thing she could do. Yukianesa ate rocks.

Her teeth, already hardened from months of eating solid ice, actually didn't fare too bad against granite. After several bites, she noted with surprise that rocks actually... weren't that bad. Calcium, sodium, and other delectable minerals all compressed into a small, hard package - mmm! Up until this day, Yukianesa has been eating rocks along with her usualy snow-and-ice Snorunt diet.

As such, she always has rocks in her stomach, usually ground into smaller bits by her teeth, though you might find some larger chunks. During battle, she can bring up rock bits, as well as acids, from her stomach to spit at her opponent in a stream of pebbles and chartreuse, burning liquid.

Type: Rock / Damage: 6% / Target: Single / Accuracy: 95% / Energy: 6%
Effects: Yukianesa brings up half-dissolved pebbles from her stomach along with acids and spits it in a high-pressure jet at her opponent. The sheer friction of the rough particles, as well as the corrosive nature of the liquid, actually burns through any fur, scales, or skin the opponent has to expose a spot of tender, hot flesh. This flesh is very sensitive to cold, so any ice-typed attacks aimed there will deal 2% more damage, after all calculations. This damage bonus lowers to 1% after four rounds. However, Yukianesa is obviously bothered by her own acids, and as such the usage of this attack deals 2% damage to herself. Also, since this attack involves emptying her stomach, she'll feel understandably hungry for the rest of the battle, causing her to be more hesitant to move a great deal. Basically, this translates into a 1% damage deduction for all physical attacks she uses from there-on. Finally, she can only use this attack once per battle, since she only has one stomach to empty.
Usage Gap: Once per battle

[Niflheim] Eevee (Male)
Ability: Run Away

[Raffelesia] Bellsprout (Male)
Ability: Chlorophyll

[Uephota] Dratini (Female)
Ability: Shed Skin
Signature Attribute: Signature Attribute: Poisoned Heritage

Uephota looks and acts much like a normal Dratini, except that her colouration is a bit darker, the tip of her tail is quite sharp, and she has barely noticeable fangs sticking out of her mouth. This is because her father is a Seviper. Now, under normal circumstances, she wouldn't have inherited these changes, but her mother was a rather frail Pokemon with many recessive genes, while her father was the opposite.
Her unique traits go beyond that, though. From an early age Uephota preferred to play with the young Seviper instead of fellow Dratinis, mostly because the snake-like dragons tended to reject her. Unfortunately, that meant every once in a while, due to some rough play, she got some poison in her system. Since the poison came from young Seviper, though, it wasn't as potent, and though she often got very sick she didn't die. Eventually she built up an immunity to poison.
As Uephota grew up, she began to get so much poison in her bloodstream that it started to turn a purplish hue. With this change she noticed she could channel her poisoned blood into her fangs and sharp-tipped tail, as well as use Poison-type attacks much more easily.
So, as a result of all the poison that got into her body, Uephota is now a Dragon/Poison Pokemon instead of the standard Dragon-type. This means she gets STAB for Poison-type moves, as well as all weaknesses and resistances it offers. Finally, she can use the moves Poison Tail, Poison Jab, and Poison Fang, courtesy of her father. However, as a result of her genetic changes, she's unable to concentrate too much pure energy in her mouth for fear of damaging her fangs, making it impossible for her to use Hyper Beam, Fire Blast, or Zap Cannon.

[Phalanx] Lileep (Male)
Ability: Suction Cups

[Stratosa] Skarmory (Female)
Ability: Keen Eye

[Acetylene] Drifloon (M)
Ability: Aftermath

Mike's Team:

[Cait Sith] Meowth (♂)
Ability: Pickup

[Ansem] Kadabra (♂)
Ability: Synchronize
Signature Attribute: Signature attribute: Paranormal Power

It is well known that Kadabra have incredible psychic powers. Many have reported strange phenomena happening just as a result of Kadabra being nearby- clocks running backwards, eerie shadows on television screens, people experiencing headaches and so on. Ordinarily these are just useless side-effects. However, this particular Kadabra accidentally exploded a toaster in the middle of using an innocent Kinesis attack and had a brainwave; maybe these accidental psychic powers could be used to his advantage in battle! He trained to amplify these inherent psychic waves until they affected artificial and technology-related Pokémon, sending them berserk and making them weaker merely from being in battle with Ansem. Of course the effort of putting out these powerful waves is a great strain on the Kadabra's other, intentional psychic abilities.

Effects: When battling Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Porygon, Porygon2, PorygonZ, Beldum, Metang, Metagross, Bronzor, Bronzong, or any appliance-form Rotom, there is a 10% chance that the Pokémon will be afflicted with Confuse at the start of each round. The waves also have an ability to weakly control electrical currents, meaning that every Electric-type attack aimed at Ansemhas its accuracy reduced by 5%. However the effort of boosting its paranormal PSI-waves causes it to use up 1% extra energy each action (even if idle, sleeping, frozen, flinching, paralysed, or using Chill). On top of this, as the waves are inherently released by all Kadabra they cannot be "switched off", even when they serve no purpose. The waves are also indiscriminate, so any friendly Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Porygon, Porygon2, PorygonZ, Beldum, Metang, Metagross, Bronzor, Bronzong or Rotom will stand a chance of being confused also.

Notes:
- Why do you guys have so many Pokemon? >.<;
- Think of this as a token of gratitude for reffing my battles or something. I dunno.
- Blazhy sends out first
- Mike sends out and orders attacks
- Blazhy orders attacks
- I be reffing.

Because Pokemon 's like curry, yo! The more the better! no I have no idea what I'm blathering about

And you don't have to ref our battles because we reffed yours :3 Ref it because it's TWEWY, yo!

Why do I always have to send out first D: Erm... M'alright, Garnet, you get a third battle. Hopefully this time you can actually evolve OTL

Yay thanks Linooney :DDD Have some ramen~

Guess I'd better send out Aeris :3 Go, my fluffy little sheep of death!

OK, first action try iterating it with Toxic; if the stupid zero Safeguards or Protects, use Light Screen instead. Then zetta spam Charge Beam, unless it avoids or blocks it in some way, in which case use Toxic if you didn't use it already and Charge if you did. SOH CAH TOA.

Toxic/Light Screen ~ Charge Beam/Toxic/Charge ~ Charge Beam/Toxic/Charge

Let's add it to the pile >D
(Submitting commands and reffings in Minamimoto-/maths-speak is optional but encouraged.)

Mmm how did I know Aeris would come out... D: Damnit, I should make battles where direct type disadvantages are banned. And I should've requested for the damage cap to be higher, because I dislike damage caps. Ah, well.

Aight, bring it, yo (damnit why am I speaking like Beat)! Electricity ain't good, man, so let's get rid of that Water typing with Camouflage. Then, slam! With Facade! Y'get STAB after Camouflage, and doubled base power if you're poisoned - that's sweet, yo! If you ain't poisoned, though, use Natural Gift.

Camouflage ~ Facade/Natural Gift ~ Facade/Natural Gift

(psst Mike it's 'CRUNCH! I'll add it to the heap!' :3)

Scramble Crossing, Shibuya. Tall buildings loomed over the district, and the eve-catching large television screens, as always, flashed with the latest news. "Steel! Dark! Fire! The hottest combination in Shibuya!" one proclaimed. A scan with a Player Pin would revel that what the televisions were showing was right -- instead of clothing brands, the most fashionable things right now are, for some absurd reason, pokemon types.

As one of the busiest -- if not the busiest -- districts in Shibuya, Scramble Crossing was, as always, filled with crowds of people. And through this crowd of people the two trainers and one referee pushed through, or more accurately, attempted to push through. Mike the Foxhog complained loudly as another careless person tread on his toes again, and Blazhy just sighed exasperatedly. Why did they pick this area to battle again?

The referee didn't seem to care though, as it slurped on its bowl of ramen. "Oh, by the way, here," it chirped and pulled some Player Pins out of its beret. "This will allow you to see the Noise," and, at the curious look from the trainers, the referee quickly added, "Don't ask me how I got them. I don't know either." The trainers shrugged to themselves and each took a pin, then settled to their respective ends of the battle field. The referee finished its ramen and pulled out two referee flags out of its beret (one wonders how many things the referee keeps in there) and signaled the trainers to send out their pokemon.

Blazhy was the first to act, and, in a burst of light, a Staryu materialized in the busy streets and fell on the ground with a small clunk. A random passerby yelped in surprise and almost tripped over it. Mike, sniggering to himself, also tossed a pokeball, and a small sheep-like creature appeared in front of him. The Mareep seemed a bit uneasy with all the people walking around, but quickly gathered her wits and faced her opponent through the crowds.

“Anyway, Mikey verses Blazhy, round start~” The referee yelled cheerfully and waved its referee flags.

Round 1 Start

The Player Pin that the referee gave out seemed to have no effect on the battle except making the noise visible -- as soon as the pokemon were sent out, the people scattered -- or at least, relatively speaking, they scattered, since it's kind of hard to scatter in a place as crowded as Scramble Crossing. Of course, a few people, whether it's just that they don't care or that they were too careless, still walked as if nothing is happening.

The Staryu sighed and concentrated first, focusing its energies on itself and slowly changed its body to match the surroundings. The previously yellow starfish turned into a dull shade of gray that looked exactly like the color of the cement ground. Aeris decided to ignore the few brave souls who decide to walk right between the two battlers and started the fight by spitting out a blob of purplish goo at an unsuspecting Garnet. The glowing starfish made quite an easy target and the Toxic hit the starfish right on one of its many arms, whiled splattering all over the crosswalk and making and ominous hissing sound as it settled into a puddle. Garnet flinched, feeling the poison slowing sinking through its body while a few passerbys muttered discouragingly at the higher taxes they'll have to pay to fix the crosswalk.

Aeris was grinning to herself at the successful attack when the glowing starfish suddenly jumped up and smashed into her side with an abnormally strong force, its limbs flailing about. The Mareep yelped in pain and quickly let go a jolt of electricity. The electricity bounced around the crossing, making passerbys flee in surprise, and managed to hit its mark. Momentarily stunned, Garnet backed off for a moment. Aeris breathed a sigh of relief. The Facade attack hurt, but she was now charged with the some excess electricity from the Charge Beam, so that's always a good thing.

Just when Garnet was about to resume its Facade attack, something strange happened -- a large, bright yellow wolf-like creature with glowing purple claws materialized out of nowhere and ran through the crowd at breakneck speed, yet none of the humans seemed to notice the creature. The wolf ran past the battlers, its purple tail lashing behind it, before suddenly turning back and charged at the battling pokemon.

The referee slurped on its second bowl of ramen.

The wolf smashed into Garnet and continued running, soon disappearing into the crowd. A small black pin with a picture of a white wolf on it clattered to the ground, possibly knocked loose during the wolf's surprise attack.

Garnet wasn't about to stop attacking from such a little distraction, however -- the starfish quickly charged forwards again, smashing into the Mareep and thrashing with all its might, avenging its poisoning. The Mareep once again let loose a bolt of electricity at the starfish, and the beam once again hit its mark. Although she was hurt by the Facade, Aeris was starting to feel pretty good as the leftover charge from her attack powered her up. Meanwhile, Garnet was more annoyed, for the poison was slowly getting through to its systems and it hurt.

A small crowd had gathered around the battle, and some clapped at the successful Facade attacks. Arguments could be heard as the audience fought amongst themselves, deciding which type was the best ("Facade did a lot of damage, but did you see that Charge Beam?" "Yeah, that was pretty cool." "No way, the Facade was way better. Normal is awesome." "Dude, Steel is still the way to go, man!") After a while, the crowd finally settled: Steel was still the best, but Normal and Electric types are pretty cool as well. Seems like the giant TV screen is getting a bit outdated.

- An Alterna Wolf appeared during the 3rd action and attacked Garnet because the randomizer said so.
- It dropped a Wolf pin.
- Sorry guys, I'm still on Day 6 in the first chapter, so, um, yeah. No mathspeak for now. But I do want to eat some pudding...

Uh-huh, yeah! Show them how it's done, Garnet >:D

Hrm'kay, Wolf... I don't think we'll need a priority attack any time soon. So we'll let it go. A shame that it attacked us :<
Anyway, let's take advantage of that Normal-type bonus and spam some moar Facade. It'll probably fade by the next round, so let's use it while we can! Start with a 15% Substitute, and follow up with Facade and Toxic. On the 2nd action, switch to Cosmic Power if Aeris Protects, Detects, or you can't hit her for whatever reason (Substitutes not included), though switch to Ice Beam if a Reflect is up. Aim for the feet and hope we get lucky, and sweep it back and forth if she has clones. And on the 3rd action, Light Screen if she Protects/Detects/has Safeguard up/has a Substitute/blahblahblah, and Natural Gift if she has clones.

A small but growing crowd had gathered around the battlers and was waiting for the excitement to start. However, the referee was still eating ramen. At the slightly annoyed look from the battlers, it waved them on, signaling the start of the round. It seems like ramen was more important than reffing etiquette…

Round 2 Start

Garnet was, as always, faster than Aeris, even though, biologically speaking, a sea star should not be able to move fast at all. However, since this is pokemon, the referee kindly ignored that fact and continued eating its second bowl of ramen. Garnet the staryu glowed brighter than usual, and the light slowly focused into a glowing, staryu-shaped blob in front of it. The starfish seemed a bit tired by making the Substitute, but that was to be expected – it did put quite a bit of its own health into the glowing puppet thing. Aeris, on the other hand, has been attempting to pick up the fallen pin. After kicking it around with its hooves and attempting to bite it a couple of times, Aeris, with a stroke of genius, decided to zap the pin with electricity. The charged pin flew up and stuck to her fur in the same way a balloon sticks to the ceiling after getting rubbed with a piece of cloth, and Aeris decided to leave it there.

Satisfied with its substitute, Garnet turned its attention back to Aeris, who seems to be gathering electricity or something. The Toxic attack from before still hurt, and that sheep’s gotta pay. The starfish glowed with energy and charged forward, once again smashing into the Mareep’s side. The crowd cheered. Aeris yelped in pain and released another small bolt of electricity – yet the starfish was glowing so brightly, Aeris could not manage to aim properly, and the Charge Beam missed completely, causing a few members of the growing audience to flee in panic. Aeris sighed as the starfish backed off. At least the leftover charge boosted – holy crap what in the world is that?

A long, neon blue creature with a grey head and tail had appeared and was quickly flying through the thong of people. The humans didn’t seem to notice the creature, however – seeing that Noise exists only in the UG, it was understandable. The Noise headed straight at the mareep, its glowing blue claws raised, and then it was gone, leaving the mareep in pain. A small “bling!” sound could be heard as a grayish blue pin with what seemed like numbers on it clattered to the ground.

The referee seemed as intent on eating its ramen as always and paid no attention to the appearance of the Noise.

Garnet wasn’t about to let a little distraction stop its revenge. The red orb on its center glowed purple, and a blob of poison precipitated on its surface. The starfish flung the Toxic at Aeris, but the sheep managed to see the oncoming attack and dodged it, causing the crowd to go into another panicked shuffle as they tried to escape from the hissing poison. Aeris was thinking the same thing, too, as she fired another beam of charged electricity at Garnet; this time, it hit. Or it hit the Substitute, at least. The glowing energy ball took the damage with seemingly no problem at all, although it started fizzling at the edges. The sheep cheered silently to herself as she felt the leftover electricity power her up even more. This is good stuff, it is.

The crowd shuffled closer, muttering amongst themselves. (“That electric attack definitely was uncalled for – it could have hit me!” “I know, gosh, but wasn’t, like, the special attack boost, like, totally cool?” “This battle is so zetta-slow!” “Normal is still the best!”) A few seconds later, the latest fashion in Shibuya have changed again. They really need to update that TV ad.

The referee seemed to have finished its second bowl of ramen and was now eating a third – how much ramen can that linoone eat anyway? It looked up from its bowl and waved, signaling the end of this round.

- It dropped a 1000 Yen pin.
- The “hottest” types right now are: Normal, Steel, and Electric in that order.
- Mike orders ramen attacks first next round

Hm. Well, we're still not doing great here Aeris :/ Start off with Thunder Wave to impair Garnet further. Then on the next action use Rain Dance, unless Garnet's ordered to change the weather or use a Water move on the second or third actions, in which case try Hidden Power and see if it's super effective. On the third action, if it's raining use Thunder, Thunderbolt if not. If at any point it's told to Protect, use Charge (unless you were going to Rain Dance, that's aight.)

Thunder Wave/Charge ~ Rain Dance/Hidden Power/Charge ~ Thunder/Thunderbolt/Charge

That better not be too complicated >< And good job on the reference, Linooney, you're learning :D

Zetta slow, you say? >:U *aims a Thunder at audience*

...Just kidding. Okay, onto actual commands. The Thunder Wave won't hit you, Garnet (ilu RNG gods), so let's do what we always do against people who love Charge Beam: Psych Up. After that, use Rain Dance - Aeris should use Hidden Power, but the chances are incredibly low that it'll be super-effective and the low BP shouldn't bother you too much, anyway. 'M taking a chance that it won't be a popular type and it won't be super-effective or STAB, so the Substitute should survive on 1%. Meh, either way, use... Mweeheehee. Brine on the last action. Epic stat-ups + 130 BP + Water Stone + favourable weather = insta-destruction!

Psych Up ~ Rain Dance ~ Brine

The audience scattered the moment Blazhy threatened to use Thunder on the audience, but they quickly crowded back once they realized that she was joking. “You’re out of your vector!” Someone shouted in the crowd, but nobody could quite make out who it was. The referee waved the complaints away and signaled the round to start while eating another bowl of ramen.

Round 3 Start

Garnet agreed with its trainer that the Charge Beams were getting a bit annoying, so it focused it mind on the Mareep. The sheep seemed to be quite charged right now… The staryu glowed lightly as it copied Aeris’s stat boosts, and soon Garnet was feeling pretty powerful despite being poisoned. Aeris was not very amused at all and sent a small jolt of electricity flying towards the staryu. Before it could hit its target, however, the glowing star-shaped Substitute leapt in front of Garnet and absorbed the electricity harmlessly, before flopping back to the ground again. Aeris fumed, now extremely annoyed.

Meanwhile, Garnet was in quite a good mood. Yes, it was starting to get tired from all the attacks it was using, but it has a little bit of the upper hand, and that Substitute was very useful indeed. The red orb on its body glowed with a faint blue light, and the staryu hovered a bit into the air and started an intricate dance, spinning this way and that, then floating up and down. The crowd ohhhh’d. Dark rain clouds suddenly gathered across the sky, and thunder crackled over head. The ohhhing turned into a panicked shuffle as onlookers scrambled to get out their umbrellas or started running for cover. They were right to do so because, before long, a heavy downpour started. Noticing the weather change, Aeris switched tatics – instead of doing another Rain Dance, she focused on the energy inside herself. Orbs of energy appeared around her, circling and glowing with changing colors of light, and the mareep started to glow with a strange, dark auroa. The floating orbs simultaneously turned black and shot towards the staryu, but no luck; the Substitute once again leapt into the attack and protected its creator. The Substitute was now fizzling visibly and becoming transparent, yet it managed to hold its shape together.

The Substitute was definitely going to disappear soon, Garnet noted as it gathered up salt water in its red jewel. Turning to face Aeris, who was looking quite annoyed by the rain, the starfish pokemon fired a concentrated blast of salt water at the sheep. Aeris yelped in pain, the salt water stinging her wounds and making her normally fluffy wool stick together, and charged up electricity again. Just as she was about to have her revenge via a nice bolt of Thunder, the ground suddenly started shaking.

The referee, who was safely hidden under an overhang, cursed as it accidentally splashed some of its ramen on to the street.

One large purple elephant and a humungous earthquake later, the battlers were left bruised and in pain. A small “bling!” (and a very loud “Stupid zeros!”) could be heard, and a white pin with a grey elephant on it dropped to the ground. The weird grayish blue pin had, somehow, disappeared.

Aeris picked herself up and cringed. What was that thing anyway? She was pretty sure that there are no purple elephants in the pokemon world. Too late, anyhow; the sheep sent a bolt of electricity into the sky, and a loud boom could be heard overhead. A huge bolt of lightening struck its target, and no Substitute was there to block it this time; seems like it had taken the damage from the Noise and disappeared. The staryu tried to move, but found itself immobilized – seems like the Thunder had fried some nerve cells and Garnet was now officially paralyzed and poisoned. Joy. Yet somehow the Thunder didn’t hurt as much as it should have had – almost if a strange force had stopped its power. Garnet silently thanked whoever invented the damage cap.

The crowd (or what’s left of it) unanimously agreed that the Thunder attack was zetta-awsome (whatever that means), but Water is a close competition.

- Must… Resist… Temptation… and not play TWEWY so I can evolve some pins… ugh…
- This is the only reason why the reffings are coming out so fast.
- A Woolly AOR appeared during the 3rd action
- It dropped a Woolly Pin, and the 1000 Yen Pin disappeared.
- Electric is the hottest thing right now, followed by Water, then Normal
- Hidden Power was Dark Type because the randomizer said so.
- Thunder did massive damage due to STAB, the +4 Sp. Atk, and being fashionable. Brine on the other hand didn't have STAB to back it up, so didn't do much damage at all.
- Blazhy’s attacking first next

...Crap. I forgot about the Noise. And paralysis, whryyy ;-; I knew I should've taken that Extremespeed.

Alright then... Keep using Brine. However, if you're attacked, cycle between Protect and Endure, starting with Protect.

Thank god for that Wooly AOR, or Thunder would've been wasted. Like Thunder Wave. :o But dammit, now Blazhy's commands make it fricking impossible to attack her.

Okay Aeris, Time to put that Extremespeed to use- use it to run away into the crowd and hide before Brine hits you, and then use two Shock Waves; at least one will cause damage, and possibly both if paralysis kicks in. *hopes desperately that will work*

It was only the fourth round and the referee already had a pretty big stack of empty ramen bowls beside it. And, wait, it was still eating? Since when did the referee find time to sneak away from reffing the battle and buy some ramen?

Either way, a job was still a job, and since the referee was doing its properly, the battlers have nothing to complain about. The referee found time to look up from its bowl of ramen (seems to be miso flavoured this time) and waved a referee flag. Round Start! Or so it goes.

Round 4 Start

Before any of the battlers could gather their wits, something very fast and very neon orange appeared. The Noise looked familiar; its bright orange body and glowing purple claws barely touched the ground as it cut through the crowd and ran by the battlers, smashing into Garnet, and disappeared in an orange blur. Another familiar "bling!" sound followed and a pin dropped to the ground. Yet this pin seemed different from the other ones -- instead of having an intricate design on it, this pin looked more like a bottle cap with its green color and a picture of an orange soda can in the middle.

Aeris quickly snapped out of her daze and followed the path of the Alterna Wolf despite the pain all over her body from the Brine before. She didn't think too much about her trainer's orders -- Extremespeed, right? She was pretty sure she couldn't use that move, but the pin still stuck on her fur was suddenly giving her quite a speed boost right now, and she was sure that it could pass for an Extremespeed. Unless, of course, she was actually using Extremespeed, but... The sheep managed to turn in time to avoid crashing into a rapidly fleeing human.

Garnet was quite confused by the sudden appearance of the mareep. It was pretty sure mareep can't run that fast, and now that the sheep had disappeared into the crowd, it was quite hard to aim its brine attack. But it could still try. The starfish pokemon charged up energy again and sprayed a blast of salty water into the crowd, hoping that it'll hit that annoying sheep.

The few members of the audience still around in the rain scattered as a blast of salt water headed their way. A few unlucky ones and a mareep got drenched with the Brine, and although it was alright for the audience, since they don't have any wounds, it was not good for the mareep. The salt water burned at her wounds, and the Brine forced the already tired Aeris to stop running. The sheep struggled to stand, but the pain from the previous barrages proved to be too much. Aeris fell to the ground, unconscious, and Mike the Foxhog quickly withdrew his pokemon.

Garnet silently cheered to itself, but it was in too much pain -- the poison in its systems was really giving it a hard time, and it was barely on the verge on consciousness.

YESSSSS STARMIE HERE I COME Hopefully in time for the tournament. Though I doubt it. :<

Uh, let's see, not much you can do... Spam Thunder, yeah. In the case of Protect or Detect or similar (where there's no chance of you dealing damage to Lutra, save for Substitute), Light Screen, Reflect, and Light Screen, in that order. Mike made a face at Blazhy and picked out another pokeball while Blazhy just laughed evilly. The trainer muttered some curses and threw the pokeball -- a burst of white light later, a Buizel materialized on the battlefield. The otter pokemon looked about, quite thrilled by the rain, and gave a cheerful yelp. His opponent, the gray starfish-thing lying on the ground there, looked pretty easy to beat. And, heck, is that thing even alive? The Buizel bounced forward and gave the starfish a small prod. Garnet didn't move, mainly because it was so dead tired and in pain so that it couldn't.

The referee cleared its throat. "Round five, start!" It announced, then dug into yet another bowl of ramen.

Due to its paralysis, Garnet could only watch as the buizel bounced up to it and spat a bust of water onto its face. The Water Gun, though weak as it was, proved to be too much, and Garnet finally gave up its struggle and sank into oblivion. Lutra peered closely at the staryu, and, deciding that it is harmless, promptly jumped on it and started dancing. Yeah! First KO ever! The buizel was feeling pretty awesome at the moment as he danced to a beat inside his head.

His fun was brought to and, however, when a slightly annoyed Blazhy withdrew the fainted starfish.

I have no idea why, but the mental image of a Staryu suddenly disintegrating into a pile of dust from a sprinkling of water is highly amusing.

Okay, so I will send out ramen Phalanx next. Residual damage and stalling tactics gogogo!

(Lutra's a boy :3)

Right, first off use Agility - if possible, try to use it after Phalanx attacks to dodge and get the pin. If you can't dodge as well, forget about Agility and just go get the pin. Then start to pound it with Waterfalls, unless it Protects, in which case use Bulk Up. If it uses Barrier, switch to Ice Beam, but if it has a Mirror Coat up, then stick with Waterfall.
