D/P/Pt Mini-competition team

Lars The Turtwig

Will probably not come back.
Well, my brother is really into pokemon lately, although he still didnt reach candice, but anyway, he told me he wants to compete against me(although chances are for me). Well, here's my palnned team(I'd like soem advice):

Aggron Male

Feraligatr Male
Admant/Jolly nature

Torrent

Item: Choice Band/Scarf/Leftovers/Muscle band

Moves:
Return
Ice Punch/Fang

Stealth rock
Stone edge/Rock slide
Earthquake
Hammer arm/Avalanche

charizard
Hasty/Naive/Shy/Modest

....Obvious.

Item: Wise/ Choice glass.

Moves:
Heat wave/Flamethrower(one on one battles so flamethrower is favourable)
Air slash(heavy damage and flinch)
Focus blast/Punch(unlikely to use punch because of EV's and nature)
Substitute

Ev spread: 4 Hp, 252 Speed, 252 S.Attack.

I guess that's it.
P.S. Im not really check every single EV- after all, it's for fun.

Any plans for the last slot?

A Pokemon like Alakazam could work well, as you need some sort of special sweeper.

A fact to note is that im not plannnig to do a 'perfect' EV trained team- the EV spread is just what Im trying to get.

P.S. That's charizard's role, hehe.

Okay, it's been a while since I did this...

Aggron Male
Adamant/Jolly Nature

Sturdy

Item: Muscle Band

Moves:
Dragon rush/dragon claw
Iron tail/Iron head
Avalanche/Ice Punch
Aerial Ace/ Aqua tail
(the left ones are the ones I think are better)

Ev spread: 4 Hp, 252 Speed, 252 attack.

To start, Adamant is the way to go. Drop the Speed EVs, no matter how many you put in, Aggron won't be outrunning much. That's okay, though, it's not supposed to. It should be able to take hits while dishing them out as well. Replace all the Speed EVs with HP EVs.

Now, for something like Aggron, a SubPunch set would be a nice one. Run Substitute and Focus Punch; with Aggron's acceptable Attack and insane Defense, it'll be able to make good use of it. Just keep it away from most special sweepers. The idea is that Substitute blocks off damage and status so that you're guaranteed to pull off your Focus Punch for massive damage. Aside from that, you've got the move choices all wrong; aside from Avalanche, the ones on the right are all better. Dragon Rush and Iron Tail both have accuracy problems, and Aqua Tail provides infinitely better type coverage than Aerial Ace. Not that it matters, though; you shouldn't be using any of them, except maybe Avalanche. I suggest a moveset of Substitute/Focus Punch/Avalanche/Stone Edge.

Leftovers is the item to go with. I don't know all that much about Aggron, because I don't use NU Pokemon, but I know a little about it. My guess is that your team is an OU team, taking your Togekiss and Rhyperior into account; in that case, Aggron may not be a great choice.

Feraligatr Male
Admant/Jolly nature

Torrent

Item: Choice Band/Scarf/Leftovers/Muscle band

Moves:
Return
Ice Punch/Fang
Waterfall
Dragon dance(if not choice)/Earthquake
(my bro is really into empoleon and hates shedinja, so...)

Ev spread: As before, 4 Hp, 252 Attack, 252 Speed.

Go for an Adamant nature, and hold a Life Orb. By default, if a Pokemon has a choice between Ice Fang and Ice Punch, go with Punch; Fang has lower power and accuracy, and its only real point is for those without better Ice moves. Run Dragon Dance over Earthquake and Earthquake over Return.

And that should be it. Oh yeah, and replace Feraligatr with Gyarados, as Gyarados does pretty much the same job, only a couple times better (Intimidate to neuter physical threats, higher base Attack and Speed, etc.). But if you want to use Feraligatr over Gyarados, well.

Torterra Male
Impish nature

Overgrow

Item: Leftovers(100%)

Moves:
Earthquake
Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Leech Seed
Synthesis

Ev Spread: 252 Hp, 118 Defense, 138 S.Defence.

Looks fine, but Leech Seed and Leftovers should provide you with enough recovery. Synthesis loses power in sandstorm, which is common because people love Tyranitar and (to a lesser extent) Hippowdon. Choose Stone Edge over Rock Slide. Synthesis should be dropped for Stealth Rock, as it strikes me now that you don't really have a Stealth Rock user.

Togekiss Male
Shy/Modest nature

Serene Grace

Item: Lefovers/ Wise Glasses

Moves:
Thunder wave
Air Slash(60% flinch)
Roost
Charge Beam/Energy ball/Shadow Ball

Ev spread: 252 S.Attack, 140 Speed, 116 Hp.

Shy nature...? Calm is the best to use with Togekiss. You've got the right idea going here, using Togekiss to abuse its flinch-hax abilities, but you'll want to go with a more defensive spread here. 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef should be good. Also, Aura Sphere should go over Charge Beam and all those other options for its ability to hit Rock- and Steel-types that resist Air Slash.

Leftovers over Wise Glasses.

Rhyperior
Adamant/Impish Nature

That stone guard thingy(reduces super effectiveness a little)

Item: Lefovers

Moves:
Stealth rock
Stone edge/Rock slide
Earthquake
Hammer arm/Avalanche

Ev spread: 252 Hp, 129 Defense, 129 S.Defense.

Oh okay, so you do have a Stealth Rock user. Thing is, Torterra does it better, so drop it for either Megahorn or Fire Punch (Megahorn for pure power, Fire Punch for coverage). Hammer Arm/Avalanche should be dropped for Aqua Tail.

The EV set for this should be 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP, with an Adamant nature. Give him a Choice Band to hold; his attack power is already insanely high, so why not boost it to overkill? (I have also finally gotten over my hatred of Choice sets due to the wonderful success of my Specs Jolteon.)

charizard
Hasty/Naive/Shy/Modest

....Obvious.

Item: Wise/ Choice glass.

Moves:
Heat wave/Flamethrower(one on one battles so flamethrower is favourable)
Air slash(heavy damage and flinch)
Focus blast/Punch(unlikely to use punch because of EV's and nature)
Substitute

Ev spread: 4 Hp, 252 Speed, 252 S.Attack.

There's that mysterious Shy nature again. XD;;

Running Charizard on this team is treading on thin ice. With how common Stealth Rock is, Charizard will find it almost impossible to switch in, as losing half its health on each switch-in is too much for Zard to handle.

That said, Flamethrower is a better choice than Heat Wave, but Fire Blast is better than both of them. Focus Punch actually still does decent damage on things like Blissey, although it's probably more useful to use Focus Blast overall. Drop Substitute for Dragon Pulse. If you get a good Hidden Power type (in Charizard's case, Electric or Grass), then drop Air Slash for it. Otherwise, keep it. Use Choice Specs for an item.

Honestly, though, I'd replace Charizard with something that's more able to help your team. I've noticed the majority of your team is made up of Rock-types and other Pokemon that benefit from sandstorm (Torterra works pretty well in it due to its ability to HP stall, and all Rock-types, like Aggron and Rhyperior, get a 50% special defense boost in sandstorm). To that end, I'd suggest a Tyranitar set, preferably a mixed set such as this one:

Tyranitar
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Sand Stream / Quiet OR Brave
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Atk / 176 SpA / 28 Spe
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam OR Flamethrower OR Thunderbolt

This is a "classic" Tyranitar set. Send in Tyranitar on something it scares, use Substitute as it switches out, and attack accordingly. Focus Punch, like I said, is protected by Substitute. This is a mixed attacker set, which means it can attack effectively with both physical and special attacks. As an example, if your opponent brings out a Skarmory or other physical wall, you can hit it with Flamethrower or whatever other super-effective hit you have to deal more damage, since you're operating off its lower special defense stat. On the other side, you can use Focus Punch to deal with special walls such as Blissey (oh god I hate Blissey).

The big thing here is that Tyranitar's sandstorm helps a lot of your team out, save for maybe Togekiss and Gyarados/Gyarados Jr., in addition to Tyranitar being able to hold its own in battles as well.

Well, that's about it. Hope that helped.

Thanks for the advice!

Well, right now, im trying to figure if this team's any good:
(P.S. the idea about this team is using pokemon in unusual ways, and one might use two unevolved starter pokemon and the rest should be baby pokemon)

Happiny
Happiny@Leftovers/Life orb
Natural cure/Bashful nature(I've got a bashful nature happiny with extremly high IV's)
Ev's: 252 Hp, 153 Attack+105 Sp. attack/ 153 Sp. Attack+105 Attack.
-Substitute OR softboiled(latter is better if used with life orb)
-Focus punch OR Brick break OR Drain punch(latest is favourable for recovery)
-Shadow ball
-Return(high power) OR Grass knot(grass knot is unfavourable) OR Softboiled(can work with life orb and substitute)

Bonsly
Bonsly @ None OR muscle band OR Leftovers
Rock head/ Brave OR Jolly
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 defense
- Substitute/ Rock Polish
- Brick break
- Sucker Punch OR faint attack OR Thief
- Rock slide OR Dig.

Notes: The idea is either hide behind substitutes with leftovers while attacking the target with strong attacks, steal the target's item ni hope it's useful, or use rock polish to gain good speed and smash (and hopefully flinch) with rokc slides, faint attacks and brick breaks.

Magby
Magby @ Choice scarf
Sand Stream / Adamant OR Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Hp, 4 speed
- Cross chop
- Thunderpunch
- Fire punch
- Faint attack

Notes: Once again, it's an all out to smash the target.
CHOICE SCARF Boosts speed, allowing Magby to gain some durability and attack EVs at the cost of being locked to one move.

(P.S. by baby pokemon I meant unevolved AND baby pokemon.)
Rhyhorn
Ehyhorn @ Choice band
Rock head / Adamant OR Brave
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
- Earthquake
- Stone edge
- Megahorn OR Fire fang
- Fire Fang OR Ice fang

Will add the rest of the planned team soon.

...

Unless you're building an NFE team in which the only things you're fighting are unevolved Pokemon like everything you have, there is literally no point in this team, as absolutely everything on your team has something that does the job infinitely better.

Happiny
Happiny@Leftovers/Life orb
Natural cure/Bashful nature(I've got a bashful nature happiny with extremly high IV's)

Then breed and get a Calm one with the good IVs passed down. Nature is more important than IVs, it affects your stats more.

ಠ_ಠ

Physical... Happiny...? You do realize that even if you use an Adamant nature and max IVs and EVs on this thing, its attack will still be under 120? That's not enough to do anything with any move to any Pokemon. Most Pokemon in Victory Road have higher attack than that, and they're level 40-ish; your Happiny would be level 100. Even its special attack is pathetically low; maxed out with Modest and max IVs/EVs, it only reaches 141. You're attempting to make a Happiny into a sweeper, and that will never work. Never.

Drop the Attack EVs altogether. Drop the physical moves altogether. Drop the Special Attack EVs altogether, the Chansey line is meant to be a special wall, not an attacker. Have 252 SpD / 252 HP / 4 Def. Hell, if possible, drop Happiny altogether.

Leftovers over Life Orb, always. For a moveset, run Softboiled, Flamethrower, Toxic, and Swagger. Happiny should not be staying in on physical opponents, seeing as how it's unable to survive any sort of powerful physical move without sacrificing EVs and messing up its ability to survive special hits as well. Therefore, Swagger would help a little to keep special attackers from doing much damage to you without dying first. It's basically filler, though, because Happiny doesn't have many other useful options that don't require breeding.

Alternatives That Don't Suck (ATDS): Blissey. If this is a NFE team, Chansey still works fairly well. Seriously, anything other than this.

If you must use Bonsly for sweeping (a very questionable act to begin with - that thing has a complete lack of speed and its Special Defense and HP don't give it enough to survive), drop Thief. With Thief you are relying way too much on your opponent. Rather than just sending it out and hoping for the best, give it the best right off the bat. Life Orb would probably be best for the maybe one hit it would be able to pull off before being mashed to paste.

Substitute is useless on it because it probably won't survive to pull it off. Rock Polish is useless because it doesn't get enough use out of it; even after one Rock Polish my Swampert could outrun this thing, and if you're getting outrun by a Swampert even after a +2 Speed boost you should not be sweeping.

Sucker Punch is about the only way Bonsly will be able to attack, and if you're using that there's not much point in Rock Polish. Dig is unfavorable because you'd get raped even harder by Earthquake than you already do, and even if the opponent doesn't have Earthquake, during the turn you're underground they could easily switch to something with Levitate (or a Flying-type). Rock Slide instead, since it's actually useful if you're up against the maybe two things Bonsly could hope to outrun or one of the few things that can't OHKO it with some sort of special move.

ATDS: Something with good defense and power. Swampert is a very good one. A Snorlax with Curse would work too. For an NFE team, Chansey with Seismic Toss could work, but I can't think of better options.

Magby
Magby @ Choice scarf
Sand Stream <--- what./ Adamant OR Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Hp, 4 speed
- Cross chop
- Thunderpunch
- Fire punch
- Faint attack

Notes: Once again, it's an all out to smash the target.
CHOICE SCARF Boosts speed, allowing Magby to gain some durability and attack EVs at the cost of being locked to one move.

It's a start, I suppose. Magby's power leaves a lot to be desired, though, so make up for it with higher base power moves, such as Flare Blitz over Fire Punch. Drop the HP EVs for Speed, because Magby needs all the help it can get in terms of offense and it doesn't need to survive hits anyway. Use Adamant over Jolly. Flare Blitz will be able to rip a good chunk out of enemies weak to it, although it damages Magby too.

ATDS: Well, Magmortar does the whole Choice Scarf thing a lot better while filling your need for a special attacker, but there are other options like Heracross that would work even better. For NFE, I'm pretty sure they'd still allow Magmar, who has much higher attacking stats and could even function well as a mixed sweeper.

Rhyhorn
Ehyhorn @ Choice band
Rock head / Adamant OR Brave
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
- Earthquake
- Stone edge
- Megahorn OR Fire fang
- Fire Fang OR Ice fang

Okay, really, what would be the point of running Speed EVs on a Pokemon with a -Speed nature? Run Adamant and avoid special attacks like the plague.

Run Megahorn for the pure power and Ice Fang for the better coverage.

ATDS: Rhyperior if you want a Choice Band user, but Tyranitar or Weavile could work too. For NFE, use Rhydon.

Okay, I know this is supposed to be using unconventional Pokemon for unconventional purposes... but there's a very good reason they're unconventional. If you're going for a gimmick team and concentrating on being random and unexpected, good job, but you're probably still going to lose. As an NFE team it could work with a bit of tune-up. As anything else, you are not going to be winning many battles.
