New Idea, Maybe?

Will be online more, I swearz!
After my wreck of a stereotypical trainerfic featuring my made-up Pokemon, I have decided to try something different. My idea is a war... but with Pokemon. Before you say OMFG, IT'S ANOTHER FIC WITH A POKEMON-HUMAN WAR!!!! I will say that humans and Pokemon are fighting alongside each other to fight other humans and Pokemon. Sorta like WW1/WW2 with Pokemon. Not sure which yet though. So, uh... help?

Actual Pokémon based warfare the way you describe it has been done before, too. Heck, just look at the beginning of the eighth movie. It wasn't much, but it was there. So this isn't whoamg new and original or anything. :/

Primarily, however... is that it? Really? The extent of your idea is "a war where Pokémon are used to fight"? That's not a story; it's more of a setting. You don't have any characters, an actual plotline for it to follow, anything? You really need to develop this better before we can give you any proper help with it, unless you're actually expecting us to come up with that stuff for you, which... no.

Another concern I have is that large-scale warfare is rather hard to write well and in an interesting way; you should realize that before you start. If you have a good idea that calls for it, of course, go for it, but if this really is just a setting at this point, be advised that it could be quite challenging.

About the plot, I agree with Butterfree. But anywho, a Pokemon & Human VS Pokemon & Human is kinda weird. Why would they fight? What is the point of the war? Ask yourself that, and you have the start of a plot.

Ugh. I was actually thinking like 'World War One, but with humans fighting alongside Pokemon' sorta thing. That means guns, mustard gas, areoplanes, trenches and the like. I just had a spontaneous idea to write it in the form of the main character's diary, as in, one chapter=one diary entry. It'll probably finish sround the Christmas Truce. As for the actual plot, like I said, Imagine World War One taking place in the Pokemon World. Butterfree, it seems to me that you're imagining an eighth-movie-type setting, with the two great armies marching across the plains to fight each other. But no, trench warfare. I hope I explained it a bit better this time. I'm not good at explaining stuff.

Wars With Pokemon= everyone's thought of it. But nobody really wants to write it. I s'pose, yeah, you should give it a try, but I think you should have the story mainly in third person, and then say something along the lines of "[insert guy name here] wrote in his diary: [insert diary entry here]". But that's my idea.

While it's not original, this is still a highly interesting idea. Neither Pokemon used in war or Pokemon used in real world situation is incredible new or original, it still has potential to be an incredible story, if your write it well.

My concern is that while the idea of a diary seems cool in theory, in execution it would probably detract a lot from the main purpose of the story, which is "this is how this would have gone down if we had Pokemon". Think about it, how much attention can you give to the Pokemons' presence if it's being written by someone who's used to the idea of Pokemon in the real world. It might come out with a few interesting things, but will mostly boil down to "So I fought some guys today. Oh, and there were Pokemon there too."

It's not the most original plot ever, but if you want I could really help you get into detail. I love designing intricate plots.

That sounds good, thanks a bunch, Chaon. And yeah, the diary was just a spontaneous idea I had. I wasn't actually sure I was going to use it, and now I don't think I will.

Meh. I've read a second person war fic about Lt. Surge's days in the army. Same, trench warfare, graphic violence, ect. Stop and think "Can I write graphic violence?" In my feeble and failed attemps at writing war like stuff, all the happened was I'd read it, yell the F-word and get mad. As for the plot... as said, 'bout all of use fic writers have thought of a war-based concoction before. Yes, give us what type of area it's in, climate, region, town, charecters, who's fighting, when did it take place, (For technology reasons) ect.

...Remember it hurts for the Pokemon to go to war. It would hurt so much- mentally and physically.
