HG/SS RANDOM! Ground-mono

Chief Zackrai

pingpong wixard
I have my main competitive team now~ thanks to those who helped.

Now, because I am random, I do like to switch things up once in a while. Heres a ground mono I came up with.

I might be using Earthquake way too much, and I haven't really given these pokemon much forethought, so let's see what is thought, shall we? Thanks for help & advice!

I wouldn't usually say this, but have you considered Quagsire over Gastrodon? Its Water Absorb might be very useful. Also, given that your pokémon are all very slow ... trick room anywhere?

I'd put Ice Shard somewhere on Mamoswine.

I don't know DP metagame at all :<

Try to swap one of claydol's moves, either earthquake as it is on your whole team or Psychic as it has bad coverage, for rapid spin as it is needed on nearly every team.
If you can get one swampert is better than gastrodon in my opinion.
Also you could try to get sandstorm on one of your pokemon as you are immune anyway and residual damage is good, you could try to fit in a hippowdon.

Swampert is definitely better than Gastrodon and it's fairly good at soaking up damage, yeah, but I'd still suggest water immunity from Quagsire.

I don't think Rapid Spin's that necessary here. Nothing is actually weak to SR.

You'll want to change a lot of the natures, even if you opt for Trick Room. Flygon needs its speed so Jolly or Adamant would be better (or anything that raises Attack or Speed without lowering Attack or Speed).
I think a better set for Mamoswine would be:

Mamoswine W/Choice Band
Adamant/Brave, Snow Cloak

Earthquake
Ice Shard
Superpower
Stone Edge

Due to Mamoswine's type combination it has a lot of weaknesses to common types, so I think this more offensive one is better. Choice Band packs a massive punch - even Ice Shard's 40 power can destroy things. This can work well in Trick Room as well, if you use Brave nature. Snow Cloak is there over Oblivious because Hail is usually more common than Attract.

Quagsire would be excellent, especially as it now has access to Recover in HG/SS.

Camerupt would like a Focus Sash rather than Leftovers so that it can survive a water-type attack.

soo... maybe

W/ Leftovers N: Careful Ability: Water Absorb
Earthquake
Ice Punch
Recover
Stone Edge

I'm raising Sp.defense so he might survive most grass attacks, and leftovers with recover will help with that. I have a feeling he might be my tank.

As natures go...
Camerupt: Quiet still, i think. Trick room will help him with that..
Flygon: Jolly He'll be the fast one!
Claydol: Modest I can switch from Earthquake to Earth Power, to help with that.
Gliscor: He'll stay Careful,thanks
Mamoswine: Brave, probably. I don't put much priority upon speed, as you can clearly see.

If you're using Trick Room then you might want to make Claydol into more of a tank. At the moment, Claydol seems to be the most suicidal of all your Pokemon, with Life Orb and Explosion. If it faints too early then you won't be able to set up Trick Room for the rest of the match, severely crippling most of your Pokemon.

Hm... I took a while to respond to this. What does Rapid Spin do? is it a priority attack? If not, then it must have some other side affect that makes it epic, because it is a normal-type move. I could have it know:

Earth Power
Shadow Ball
Trick Room
Cosmic Power

-or-

Earth Power
Shadow Ball
Trick Room
Gravity

-or-

Earth Power
Shadow Ball
Trick Room
Signal Beam

as for held items... maybe the Shell Bell for the more offensive set, and the Wide Glasses for the other sets

Rapid Spin gets rid of Spikes and Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes.

Shell Bell is always awful.

Ah. I was unaware of that. So with Wide Glasses, and Rapid Spin? That works for me. I still need a nature for Quagsire and a held item for Gliscor, however.
Perhaps:

Gliscor: Razor Fang/Razor Claw/Wide Lens

and...

Quagsire: Maybe... Lonely/Adamant/Jolly, but probably not Lonely

definitely adamant if you have to use a physical set. it has a base speed of 35, but at least its 85 base attack is subpar. you're almost guaranteed better off with one of gastrodon or swampert.

is it just me or do Gastrodon, Swampert, and Quagsire all have the same base stats? why does it matter which one I use?

EDIT!: ok, i just checked Serebii, and either Pokecharms lies, or I need to refresh.
ADDENDUM!: Yes, I needed to refresh.
