"Find sanctuary," she whispered, and then vanished to keep eyes off of Koa while they fought in the fray. In particular, she kept an eye on Koa...

She had no words. She only silently went behind individuals and jabbed at their backs, sapping their strength as a silent killer.

"Eh? Now what are you on about?" Folly asked, looking genuinely confused. "I can feel electricity all around me, and you ain't conducting none!"

As Folly was talking, Trudly dodged another one of Gladion's bites, it seemed like he was starting to catch on... only to immediately fall flat on his back at the chimera's feint. "Playin' dirty now are we?" he asked, accusingly. "What you realised how use— Ggh!?"

Trudly's words were cut off once Archie had descended upon him with his precise and decisive slashes and before he even had the chance to register what had happened, Mhynt's poison had already embedded itself into his system.

Meanwhile, as Leaf watched Miror B. dance from afar, she would find herself seized by the urge to start dancing, following Miror B.'s lead, the duck giving her a knowing wink.

Folly grinned and moved aside to let his boss do the work and just as he had done with Koa, Miror B. was quick to deliver a series of dancing kicks that would send even the toughest pokémon reeling. Luckily for Gladion, he still had his reviver on-hand so he wouldn't be down and out for long.

Yet something felt odd this time. Between being knocked out and being revived, Gladion, like Koa, would have the undeniable sense that he was being watched.

Black spots danced across Koa's vision. Dimly, he was aware he was airborne, but by the time his brain caught up he was already lying in a soaking heap at the far end of the clearing, every part of his body throbbing. Even trying to block hadn't been enough to stop the sheer force of the hit. Not enough. Far off, he heard the rest of the team, but everything was spinning to much to think straight. Mhynt? He realized she was there, briefly, passing along healing items, but his mind was too distracted.

How long had he been laying here? Too long. He had to get up. He'd known he couldn't last forever but he still had more fight in him, he could still help.

'Is that all you got?' he said. Or at least, he tried to say. Except his body didn't obey and it came out as a muffled gurgle as he almost inhaled a mouthful of tainted water. Gagging and spitting, he raised his muzzle out of the water just enough to catch his breath. His body felt like dead weight, and his thoughts moved sluggishly. If he could just get in one more attack-

Anger churned in his belly. He tried to stand, only for his legs to give out and he slumped into the water. Not enough. Idly, he wondered if it would stain his fur. All he could do was hope it had been enough. Enough to make a difference, enough to help the team win.

After when felt like far too long (or maybe it was just a few moments), the healing took enough effect for him to at least stand. His mind finally began to clear. The hair on the back of his neck stood up, and he tensed. Something felt... off. Like there was something else in the clearing with him, beyond just Miror and his goons. Something watching. Another enemy?

Even if he didn't have the strength to fight, he couldn't let some foe try to ambush them. If something was out there they needed to know what. Pricking his ears, he scanned the area, peering into the shadows and treetops for any sign of someone; trying to scent the air.

Leaf didn't bother staying to watch the seviper collapse into a pile of wet noodles. She galloped down the slope, let the rhythm momentum carry her straight into the electabuzz, trampled straight over him, determined to make sure he wouldn't screw this up. And then finally, finally, she pushed past the last stumbling peon and launched an immensely satisfying headbutt right at Miror B.'s face. (If there had been music, which there wasn't because that would've been nonsense, obviously, who said anything about music?, it might even've been right in time with the beat drop.)

Down went the Seviper and the Magmar in quick succession. Now the fight was starting to move back in their direction. Now, if they could just drop the Electabuzz, it would be one on five, and it didn’t matter how tough Miror B. was, those were good odds. So, even though his muscles were starting to ache, he bobbed and weaved his way back into the fray, joining Gladion as the Graydian was pulling himself back to his feet. Leaf was also on her way. They had this, he just had to keep telling himself that.

So, the Electabuzz. He was focused, bobbing along to whatever music was going through his and his boss’s head. This called for a distraction, something to put him on his back feet. His eyes spied a nearby pebble, simple but effective.

“Hey sparks-for-brains, dodge this!” He called, and hurled the stone at the Electric Type. Then he closed in. The Dewott didn’t have the energy for much, but he made sure his two precise stabs made the most of his stamina.

Gladion's skin crawled with the sensation that he wasn't alone. Which, yeah, he wasn't, but it was a different kind of not alone. Like attention was on him. Like walking through a public place with people who didn't know what he was staring at him and he didn't know why. He hated it. He cast his gaze around looking for Murkrow.

Unfortunately, he couldn't afford to pursue the feeling right now. It was just a hunch, after all.

The sensation of being watched help him clamp down the urge to do anything more than tap his talon to the ground to the melody of an imagined song. Wasn't like he knew how to dance anyway... or at least, didn't know anything that'd be compatible with his body. He took a tentative step forward, then broke out into a run to try to stop Miror B reaching his teammates.

Or, the ones who were still landing, anyway. He'd already failed to protect one of them because he was two preoccupied with those annoying guys.

Koa and Gladion would both realise, after a quick scan of the area, that the murkrow had fully scattered by this point with no real perpetrator of the prying eyes in sight. Were they somewhere in the trees? The bushes, maybe?

Being in the heat of battle, Gladion had no time to dwell, but Koa had plenty of opportunity to investigate. Odour Sleuth revealed the strong scent of wet dog – mostly thanks to himself and the ninetales who had been teleported away – and a second, overbearing scent of oily perfume. Looking more closely towards the source, tiny rustles could be seen and heard in the bushes; whoever was hiding out here must have been quite small. Small enough to not draw any attention while spying...

...But given the show, who could blame them for it?

The fight was drawing to a climax as moves grew larger and flashier across both sides of the field. Unfortunately for Folly, he took the brunt of the Wayfarers' attacks, leading him to stumble and fall flat on his face.

"Not good..." he mumbled. "I think I'll just lie here for a bit. Yeah, that sounds good."

And though he took a couple stray hits, Miror B. was looking largely unbothered... right until he saw Folly admit defeat. For the first time since the beginning of the battle, the bird looked shocked.

"Looks like you lot are keeping up!" Miror B. yelled, whipping up several streams of water around him, trying to hide his surprise. "But I'm not done yet! It's time for the grand finale!"

What followed was an all-out, almost desperate assault targeting the two who he perceived to be giving him the most trouble. Archie was first, being knocked right off his feet with a low sweep before he ran off to deal with Leaf. The rapidash was similarly unable to keep up with the quaquaval's frantic moves and soon Leaf found herself tripping up on her own legs.

Miror B leapt on the cliffside staring Gladion down, daring him to approach as the golden light of Archie and Leaf's Reviver Seeds illuminated the campsite.

All attention has shifted to Gladion!

The Dewott pulled himself off the ground. Getting tripped up like that maybe wasn’t his finest showing, but that hardly mattered at this point. Their group stood arrayed against the lone Miror B., and the duck seemed to be all out of tricks at this point. All that was left was to put an end to this little performance before the Cipher Admin could think to put on an encore.

Archie twirled his blades, crashing the Water Type auras of his re-summoned Razor Shells together. Then he rain for the bird, across the stage, up the cliffside, dragging his blades behind him, the points kicking up trails of dirt and powdered realgar. First one slash, then another with all the strength he had left to give.

Stifling a growl in his throat, Koa limped closer to the brush, following the faint scraps of scent he could pick out. Careful. If it was a dangerous enemy, he didn't have the energy for another fight. But then, it couldn't be someone who wanted to attack him, right? They could have tried to do it when he was down.

A spy then? Those Murkrow were gone. It had to be something else. Crouching low to the ground, he focused on the sounds, creeping toward them and trying to spot any movement. Maybe if he really focused he could try to paralyze whoever it was if he found them...

Gladion seized the centre platform with a vengeance. He was done with this. Any longer and more Wayfarers would start going down.

"Hope you enjoyed your little swan-song."

Dual beams of frigid blue and inky flame arced their way towards Miror B.

"Because you are done."

The clearing went dark for a second as the kicks slammed into her, dark and mercifully quiet, no obnoxious phantom rhythm, not even really any space to parse the horrified gasp in the back of her mind. Then it was daytime again, and it felt like she'd been run over by a chorus line, and for a few seconds the gentle prickling of the electricity still running through the platform was all that discouraged her from closing her eyes again to sleep it off.

But they had him. They had him, and they were going to finish this, and finally smashing this clown right out of his camp and into one of Sonora's jail cells was gonna feel like a million Monopoly bucks.

"I'm taking the whole thing this time," Leaf said, casual-like, gesturing at the afro as she stepped calmly off the platform. "Thought maybe I could mount it on the wall, like a trophy! But then I realized, oh, no, I can't ruin my hosts' decor like that. So instead I'm just revoking your hair privileges. Maybe you'll've learned to style it responsibly by the time it grows back." And maybe lifting all that weight off his brain would actually give him room to think while he was locked up.

"Adios, B Flat," she said, grinning—Blue would've been proud of that one—and then she reared back and swung.

She disappeared and reappeared with each step, and then, she suddenly drew her blade.

"But I like to dance dangerously."

She lobbed an enervating Leaf Blade at his feet.

If Miror B had teeth to grit, he would done so to brace himself for the oncoming flurry of moves after realising that he had been completely cornered. In a split-second moment of acceptance, he opened his arms wide, like he was accepting a standing ovation from a full audience.

Mhynt looks cool in the aftermath but Miror B is KO'd and cannot accept her challenge!

The attacks all came at once and despite his best attempts to evade, Miror B. was no match for the unified onslaught and he was sent flat on his back, limbs splayed wide. But unfortunately for everyone who had eyes, this motion came milliseconds before Leaf's second impromptu haircut, allowing for his ridiculous hair to live to see another day. "Looks like... I was just a bit out of tune," he muttered, utterly defeated.

Wayfarer Victory!!!​

Arresting Team Miror was a simple matter now that they all lay defeated across the camp... had it not been for a certain someone lying in wait in the bushes Koa was currently investigating.

Seeing all of Team Miror down, the culprit let out a tiny squeak and rushed out of the bushes and into the campsite. The tiny thing turned out to be a spritzee wearing a pair of glasses with circular frames and carrying a miniature clipboard.

Was this the one who was really responsible for that unsettling feeling Koa and Gladion had experienced? She looked so... harmless.

"Eep!" she said in a nasally voice when she found herself face-to-face with Koa. "Sorry, please excuse me," she exclaimed, projecting her voice across the entire camp. "I was just passing through, happened upon a scary looking zoroark, before stumbling upon your battle here," she hastily explained. "Forgive me for spying but I just had to watch after seeing just a couple of the moves exchanged! I work at the Duel Dome, you see, and that battle you just had is exactly the kind of thing we've been looking for!"

"...Maybe later," Mhynt said after a moment to comprehend just what happened. "We have a fabric of reality to save. I just attended here for a small detour and warmup before taking on something actually threatening." She harrumphed and crossed her arms. "Everyone. Don't forget, we have a certain someone to mobilize against soon."

 

[Tetra]

Koa spared a glance at Mhynt before turning back to the Spritzee. His lip curled and he growled slightly. "Spying doesn't make a good first impression."

He studied her, wondering if her story was true. She didn't look exactly dangerous but... "You're not with them?" he demanded, nodding toward the now downed group of Miror B and his goons. He doubted she was but he didn't know what to make of her. Duel Dome? And where was Bellatrix...

"What's your name?"

 

[Shiny Phantump]

Gladion’s feathers flared up at the appearance of an new intruder. Then took a deep breath and suppressed his shadow. The battle was over.

Did they have time for this? Couldn’t afford to let them wake up and escape. He looked around at the fallen Team Miror members to check for signs of consciousness.

“My teammate’s right, we’re leaving soon. But if you’ve got an offer open sometime after that… we’ll see. Maybe.”

He liked the idea of professional battling in a vaccum. But from what he’d seen of the Duel Dome… It was half personal branding, and he didn’t wanna end up as a freakshow for them. If was a more normal Wayfarer it’d have been an easy choice, but as a Silvally he was of two minds.
