The sun is high in the sky, the breeze is cool and carries the smell of grass from the nearby routes and the ocean. As the S.S. Anne docks in the the docks of Vermillion City, you find yourself gazing at vast oceanside city.

The reason you've come to Vermilloin was because after meeting your partner card, you found a letter waiting for you back at your base of operations. Inside was a ticket for the ship and a letter telling them to journey to Kanto if they'd like to learn more about these odd card-pokemon.

Now you are on the deck of the S.S. Anne, in the Vermillion docks, about to embark on your new journey into a whole new world.

Torei gaped at the large city before her, her pale blue eyes sparkling with excitement. She fishes into her bag and pulled out a camera, taking a picture of the city from the ship's deck.

"I got to show this to the others back home!"

Torei then looked around on the deck, wondering who else may have been called by the odd letter about the pokemon.

"I wonder if...they are nice and stuff. Maybe I can make some new friends, Nibbles!"

Celeste hadn't expected a whole freaking boat ride, actually. After she'd caught that weird Kecleon-in-a-card (whom she'd affectionately named Lex) and that letter had arrived... her parents were just excited that she was finally leaving the house, she supposed. They weren't particularly sentimental people, after all. She frowned at the glare of the sun in her eyes and pulled down her oversized sunglasses, now able to gaze the the Vermilion horizon through extreme darkness. Man, sunglasses were pretty awesome. (And she totally looked awesome wearing them.)

Electra cheeped grumpily from her perch on Celeste's head.

"You're not satisfied with anything, are you? Come on, this region only has one of the best department stores in the whole wide world! I'll buy you treats and everything. You like those, right? Even though they make you fat but you know - ow, stop that!"

As the boat docked in the harbour and passengers slowly began to meander down towards the port, there were still loud curses and angry squawks from the little bug-eyed girl and her fuzzy cloud hat. How strange.

Mendatt is flying above the ship. He, like almost everyone on the ship, got a wierd letter that was obviously made by someone who did not know him because, as it happens, he gets seasick easily. However, he got the feeling that it was, for some reason, important, so he flew above it on his altaria, which, as it happens, is singing something about fishes in trees, instead of going to kanto directly.
"Fluffy?"
"Il il a tri il a il il a tri il a il il a tri il a lit ar i a ar ta li a i ai at i'i i ai a iat at ta i a il i a tri!
"Shut up."
As you can see, fluffy the altaria does not sing well.
"Fluffy, we land now whether you like it or not."
"Il il a tr-" Fluffy was cut off suddenly as mendatt recalled him into his pokeball.
Of course, since Fluffy was the one flying, he fell quickly to the ground.
Also obviously, Mendatt has other flying pokemon.
"Firestorm, go! and land, please." Firestorm is a salamence that only knows one fire-type move. he is also a salamence that just dropped mendatt off on the deck of the SS Anne.
"Firestorm, return!" said Mendatt, falling tiredly against the rail, and hoping that the boat docked soon.

"Heigaaz, just finish it off with a Vicegrip."

Liza watched with pride as her newest team member, a Crawdaunt, scrabbled forwards on its four clumsy legs. Even though he was rather slow, he was still much faster than his Krabby opponent, being a much higher level. Heigaaz closed his large, strong pincher around the Krabby's body, making it squeak and spray a few foamy bubbles. He released it, letting its half-concious body fall to the ground, where it was quickly recalled.

"Thanks for the battle," Liza said, stepping forward to shake the sailor's hand.

"No problem... but why are you battling me if your Crawdaunt outlevels mine by a mile?"

"Well, because even then, he gets stronger. If I battle and defeat all the sailors on this ship with him, he might gain a level or two."

"Unless you've already done that, it's too late, 'cause we're approaching Vermillion right now."

"Really?" Liza jumped up and hurridly recalled Heigaaz, running off to the deck to watch their destination come into view.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liza sat with her two most experienced team members on the deck, Tage the Charizard and Jenga the Gengar.
"How does it feel to be back home, guys?" she asked, slightly whispery and sentimental sounding.
"This isn't my home," Jenga said.
"I know, but still... it's Kanto. Both Lavender Town and Pallet Town are just a few days away from here. And we're in Vermillion... this is my home."
"Are we going to have to visit them again?" Jenga moaned.
"Well... I don't know. That may depend. Jennie will be starting her own journey soon. Wonder what her first Pokemon will be?"
"Well, if I know Jennie at all," Tage said, "it'll probably be either a Bulbasaur, if she's sticking with the traditional starters, or Meowth or Clefairy or something."
"What about Nick?"
"Well..." Tage began.
Their conversation continued as the port rolled into view.
"So this is it, huh?"
Silver yawned, leaning on the rail of the large ship, looking bored. It was a nice ship, but very plain. There hadn't been much to do, to be honest. He had managed to get a pretty okay battle with a sailor in though. River had got a level, which was nice.
He sighed, and ran a thumb over the Larion's Pokeball, the smooth surface bearing not a dent or scratch. He was careful to take care of his things. Then, his hand brushed the flat and oddly durable card that sat in that pocket as well. The card... He pulled it out of his pocket, and stared down at the picture. Torterra...not a bad Pokemon, by any standards, but he...really didn't see himself using one. Another sigh.
The grey-haired youth bit his lip, and stared out at the city before him.
"People are leaving....ohhh...I don't want to get left behind.."
Torei spun on her heel and dashed into the throng of people who were getting off the boat. She noticed that a few people had flown over head, wondering why they fly off the boat when they could have walked.
Odd...oh well~ To each their own! That's what Granny always said!
She pushes her way through the crowd, hoping that her skirt wouldn't get caught on anyone's belt or something and rip. After a rather ruffled push through the crowds, she emerged on the pier and breathed a sigh.
"So much...people...how did we all fit on that boat?!"
She looked back at the ship, her hand slipping into her bag. She giggled as she felt little teeth nibble at her fingers playfully. She oped her bag and looked down at the piles of fluff curled around a rather blue looking nibble bear.
"Nibbles..."
She smiles down at her, petting the place between his ears. She then draws out the card from the inside pocket and looked at it. She stroked the card's surface silently, the wind playing with her hair.
