• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

The Great Race

The year is 371 of the 23rd Era. The invention of steam and runic engraving has caused a massive Magi-Industrial revolution. Huge cities of sky scrappers fill the skies where the sciences have laid their hand. This is the setting for Albert Fondhiemer the IV's grand spectacle.

A mystery race, one that will span countless miles and events. The prize is a simple one, an Angel's Feather. The contestants are many and varied, selected seemingly randomly by Albert himself, and place onto teams.

The race starts today, now gathered in the main square of Lindumbar and the seat of power for the Kathas Empire.

This RP is going to be a bit more open in terms of background, yet the same time more limited. I am going to present a number of arch-types which you can choose from. Only one person per arch-type. The number after the archtype is the age range.

Archtypes said:
  • Rich Dilettante 18-26
  • The Body Builder 21-30
  • The Unsatisfied House-Maid 16-32
  • The Farm Hand 21-40
  • The Funny Old Uncle 60-80
  • The Con Artist 21-42
  • The 'Intellectually Liberated Woman' 21-40
  • The Failed Inventor 30-40
  • The Spoiled Child 16-21
  • The Chimney Sweep 18-30
  • The Flirt 18-26
  • The Priest 30-50
  • The Banker 30-40
  • The Magician Performer 18-60
  • Absent-minded Tutor 30-70
  • Poor Artist 18-26

Not all of these arch-types will be taken. I only plan on having Five people chosen. I am expecting paragraphs and proper punctuation. Don't think that the sparse starting details means that it is a low quality RP.

Renata flicked her wrists, and two orbs of fire appeared over them. The crowd around her gasped, and she tossed them up. Simple tricks like this always worked so well.. and the orbs dissipated, to flare up again and spin away into the sky. A few people tossed coins into the cap in front of her, and clapped. Renata picked it up, and grinned. Time to get moving to the Square center.. or maybe make a few bucks out of the crowd already gathered around there. Races could wait.

"But I don't wanna be in the race! It means running!"
"Now, sweetie-"
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"
"Calm down, sh, sh, sh. You're already entered. I can't take you out. I'm sorry, but that's how it is."
"But DAAAAAAAADYYY!"
"No buts." Mysti's father ordered. "Now, I want you to go out with your personal trainer and train for the race."
"All right... I'll only do it if I get my own jewel-encrusted running suit and a matching bottle."

Lol, this looks hilarious.
Archtype: The Unsatisfied Housemaid

"Kelly!"
Leslie sighed, appearing in the doorway of the room.
"Ma'am, my name is, and continues to be-" Her sentence was cut off as she ducked to avoid an ice skate thrown at her head. It sailed through the air and landed with a solid thunk, the blade embedding itself in the wood floor.
"Shaddup! Go get me a soda!"
She was quiet for a moment, the silently turned and walked quickly down the hallway. That kid simply being annoying and loud would be enough, but no, she had to be violent too! No wonder the murderer in soap operas are always the butler. It really gets irritating. She slammed the front door shut and started the long drive back to her house. She was out of here, job or no. She looked in the mirror and chuckled. Still in the uniform, even. Leslie briefly considered driving the car into her now former-employer's house, but that might mess up the car's new paint job. Plus, that would definitely be illegal, so..

I must take the con man before someone else gets it and i'll regret it.
