Chapter 1 - Encounter!
Outside a smooth, white, marble lab stood a boy wearing red clothes. He knocked the door, seeming impatient as the sky suddenly filled with Pidgey, from all around Johto. Then suddenly, the door opened to reveal a man in his fourties with glasses, smiling.
"Hello, Gold," he said. "I've been expecting you."
Gold shook his head and put on a cap. Dust fell on the floor. The man lead Gold into a large room filled with computers and lots of technology - and Pokemon - that held only three main items, sparkling in the sun. They were PokeBalls.
"Choose," said the man.
"I'll pick this one," pointed Gold.
His hand grasped a ball, with a red and white sheen that showed a picture of a sauropod with a leaf attached to its head.
"Thanks, Professor Elm," he replied after the man took 5 more similar objects and a pocket-sized electronic encyclopaedia.
*
Not after long, Gold met a boy with red hair, dressed in black streaked with red. The boy ran and evaded Gold along the path.
Gold asked, "Can I have a Pokemon battle with you?"
The boy skidded to a halt and threw out a PokeBall with a mouse with flames on its back imprinted on it. Then Gold threw his PokeBall.
"Chikorita!" shouted Gold. "Tackle!"
The mouse evaded well, leaving no sign or track of dust behind. The boy flicked his fingers and the mouse charged. But Chikorita wasn't defeated so easily. With a swift flick of its leaf, Chikorita sent flying a discus shaped leaf, spinning with terrific force. The power knocked the mouse down and even shook the boy. Gold saw something fall out from the boy's pocket. It said the name of the owner: SILVER.
The boy called Silver grabbed the card and ran away.
*
Soon after, a telephone call rang throughout the clear path and Gold took out his hand from his pocket to reveal a watch like object called a PokeGear. It was a brilliant red. The screen flashed to reveal Professor Elm.
"Gold!" he gasped. "Cyndaquil has been stolen from my lab! Come quickly!"
*
There certainly was no trace of the thief but a large patch of smoke stood where the wall should have been. Gold's mother sneaked him a pair of trainers called Running Shoes. Then Gold decided to tell the police - when they came - his encounter with Silver.
Later, the results revealed that Silver was the thief so posters started to go up around New Bark Town and Cherrygrove Town. Gold stayed overnight at home before he went to Cherrygrove. Elm had said to visit a man called Mr. Pokemon where a renowned scientist called Prof. Samuel Oak resided for the week. Gold's last chance to meet the professor would be tomorrow so he would have to hurry.
