ultraviolet vs. Zhorken

Hold out just a bit longer! Use Shock Wave, except when Button is protecting, you don't have enough energy left to survive it, or you can't use it for some other reason; in those cases, Chill.

Shock Wave/Chill ×3

Alrighty! let's try something potentially cool: use Torment, then use Fire Fang to hold Zylinth in your (larger) mouth and use Flamethrower to expel him out.

Torment ~ Fire Fang ~ Flamethrower

Zylinth's Commands: Shock Wave/Chill ~ Shock Wave/Chill ~ Shock Wave/Chill

Arena: Floaroma Meadow

The gentleman who sells honey in Floaroma Town has ... somewhat reluctantly let two trainers borrow his meadow for a pokemon battle. The area is covered in a rainbow of flowers, and the faint humming of Combee at work can be heard. Sunny Day is in effect, shining over the multicoloured meadow, and it's a warm spring day.

Other: There is a 10% chance that a pokemon will sneeze from the pollen in the air; this counts as a Flinch and will prevent the pokemon from attacking for that action.

Round Six: Begin

The next thing Zylinth knows he's dropping to the ground, the unconscious Deuce suddenly whisked out from underneath him and back into his poké ball. Mercifully the fall is not a long one, and the shinx receives nothing but a slightly startling bump upon landing. Zylinth's next opponent appears right as he's getting to his feet: Button the mawile takes shape in the charred path left by the sputtering and now collapsing fire spin, bright eyes already trained on the flagging electric-type and a knowing, mischievous grin across her face. She would almost look playful if not for the impressive set of snapping jaws lined with dagger teeth trailing behind her head like a ponytail.

And yet it is not this mouth that Zylinth need concern himself with at the moment—the normal-looking one on her face is already moving, forming words that, Zylinth realizes after his tired brain takes a tick or two to catch up, are not very nice at all. Such a boring kitty, Button muses, making faces as though thinking aloud but speaking clearly enough for Zylinth to hear her quite well. Here I am, expecting a fast-paced, exciting battle with a thrilling and competitive opponent, and instead—here she makes a big show of pouting petulantly—I get a sleepy kitty. She takes a few steps closer to where Zylinth, looking bewildered and put out, is struggling to remain standing. You're just not going to be any fun at all, are you, kitty? You're probably just going to sit there and look sorry for a little while before I send you right to sleep. Predictable, useless baby kitty. No fun at all, I'm not going to have any fun at all...

Zylinth bristles with what little ire he has left in him. Boring? Him? Perish the thought! Stray sparks crackle around his charred fur, the beginnings of a shock wave building up inside him. Oh, he'll show her fun.

Button's malicious smile wavers only slightly when the wave of electricity strikes her, and she does her best to keep her head about her and remain standing in spite of the not inconsiderable shock. So what if he hits her once or twice? All that matters is that the beleaguered baby kitty has taken her carefully-laid bait, and that, she knows, will be his downfall. Perhaps this won't be so boring after all.

The mawile's grin only widens when she sees the shinx hesitate, his earlier anger giving way to confusion in seconds. He can pack a punch, he's proven that much to her... but now what? Just hitting her again would be "predictable", and gosh darn it he sure isn't going to give that smug yellow... thing predictable if he can help it! Something else, something bigger, something that will leave stars dancing in front of her eyes and prove that he's as threatening and un-boring and, yes, TERRIFYING a kitty as they come!

Then again, that does sound like an awful lot of work, and Zylinth is exhausted nearly out of his mind. She... she's probably expecting him to hit her again. That's right—she'd want him to follow up his shock wave with some spectacular... something. Well. Zylinth is nobody's fool, and he won't be figured out so easily. And if he can keep Button guessing and regain a little bit of his strength and his wits at the same time, so much the better. He gives into his wobbling knees and lets himself sink into what's left of the flowers around him, half-closing his eyes and taking a moment or two to enjoy the refreshing scent wafting through the field.

He doesn't notice the intense heat coming from a point above his back until it's too late. Button, her back to him and her false mouth open, leans back and grabs him roughly in her metallic jaws. Long, pointed fangs, each licked by flames, sink into Zylinth's battered body as Button clamps down hard. Several dozen searing-hot points stab the shinx relentlessly, chasing away any thoughts of relaxing and leaving him with nothing but terrible, burning pain. Button even gives him a squeeze or two for good measure, giggling childishly every time Zylinth lets out another frightened squeal.

The biting, stabbing and chewing is over in a matter of seconds, however—the smallish flames in Button's second mouth flare up all of a sudden, every bit as bright and hot as Deuce's mane had been, and she releases Zylinth along with a rush of fire. The shinx doesn't go very far, of course, being nearly as large as his aggressor, but feeling the tips of the fangs tear back out of his flesh and having his already singed skin roasted by open flame is far from pleasant. Electricity is already building up in and around the shinx again, and while the release of energy comes too late to force Button to let him go, as intended, it does still catch the mawile by surprise and cause her to stumble forward.

She's still smiling when she regains her balance and turns around to face him, however. That last desperate attack took all of the energy the shinx had left, and now he is reduced to a whimpering, smoldering lump in the middle of a circle of blackened ash and earth—and the whimpering, Button notes with cruel satisfaction, stops after another second or two. Zylinth doesn't have enough strength left to make another sound.

Zylinth (M) [Intimidate]
Health: 19%

Status: Knocked out!

Arena Status: The fire spin has cut a fiery swath through the flowers between where Deuce and Zylinth once stood, leaving only charred earth in its wake; another patch of burnt flowers is nearby, the result of Button's flamethrower. The honey seller can just barely be heard weeping over by his house.

Ref's Notes
-Fire fang caused Zylinth to flinch, so his first chill only restored 5% energy.
-As such, Zylinth didn't have enough energy to survive a second shock wave and fainted on the last action (he couldn't chill again, and I figured he'd be panicked enough to strike back rather than do nothing after going through all that). The shock wave's damage was reduced by 2% due to just missing the energy needed.
-Zhorken sends out and then ultraviolet attacks first next round.

I'm totally okay with that! I wasn't expecting to get a second Shock Wave.

I choose Enver. Let's go, bunnybutt!

Okay. Kick up a 15% sub, use Toxic, and end with Fire Fang. If Enver protects (or something to that effect), use Brick Break.

Sub (15%)/Brick Break ~ Toxic/Brick Break ~ Fire Fang/Brick Break.

Okay, this is a good first round. Focus Punch to take out the sub, then Focus Punch again to do awesome damage. Make it very clear that you're a vulnerable little bunny rabbit so that she'll just poison you instead of punching you. Then Dig down to dodge Fire Fang, and slam her from below.

Oh, and hold your nose with your non-punching hand while you Focus to prevent yourself from sneezing.

Focus Punch ~ Focus Punch ~ Dig

(C'mooooon RNG gods; if we get a crit, we can take Button down next round...)

(EDIT: Oh wait she's already damaged. We'll be able to anyway.)

Round Seven: Begin

The TERRIFYING LION formerly known as Zylinth is whisked away amidst another fit of giggling from Button, to be replaced by a bundle of tan and tawny fluff that could hardly be called threatening even by someone as skittish as Deuce. Enver uncurls his ears when the warm afternoon sunlight hits the top of his head, then turns to give his snickering opponent a friendly smile. Well, she certainly looks cheerful! How nice to find such a good-spirited opponent.

It will be fun to punch out all the overlarge teeth in her two giggling jaws!

Button smacks the lips on the back of her head thoughtfully, slightly puzzled by her new foe's apparent inactivity—he simply plops down onto his cottony tail and shuts his eyes, not so much as looking at her after his brief smile. One tubby paw clenches into a fist in his lap, but on the whole he appears to be napping while sitting up. Maybe the scent of all the flowers makes bunnies sleepy. His loss, then. Like Deuce before her she gathers up a bundle of flowers, taking care to select only those that are still bright, healthy and untouched by the earlier fires; she does have to wander a little ways away from her immediate spot to collect appropriate blooms, but it doesn't bother her overmuch—after all, with Enver practically asleep she has all the time in the world.

The mawile settles down once she's got a sufficiently large bundle of flowers in her arms, ready to get down to the real work. She twists the stems and leaves of the flowers together as quickly as she can, weaving the plants into a loose framework that, when she's finished, is approximately her height. Her eyes flash for just a second as she adds the finishing touch—just a hint of her own life energy—and then steps back to survey her works as it shudders and straightens up. The substitute looks dangerously flimsy, full of visible gaps between stems and petals that are not particularly sturdy in the first place, but Button is satisfied with it; when Enver finally wakes up and gets slowly to his feet, she has all the confidence in the world that it will protect her.

Enver's apparent nap seems to have filled him with quite a lot of energy, as his jog over to Button and her floral substitute is quick and spritely. The confident smirk slides off of Button's face when she sees the rabbit pokémon draw his clenched fist back and swing, instantly scattering her carefully-woven substitute with one well-aimed punch. A shower of flowers flutters to the ground around Button, suddenly lifeless and totally incapable of protecting her from anything at all. Her eyes go wide as Enver gives her another amicable smile. Where... where did that even come from?

Wary now, the mawile backs away as soon as she sees Enver plop his bottom back onto the ground. She watches him with narrowed eyes, waiting to catch any signs of movement or preparations for another knockout punch; her suspicions are not allayed even when he remains stock-still, but she opts to take a chance anyway. Surely if she's quick enough she'll be able to get out of the way, right?

Confidence thus bolstered, if only slightly, she allows the queasy nervousness in her stomach to bubble right along without trying to quell it. When she feels the bile beginning to rise in the back of her throat she edges closer—just near enough to nail Enver with a good loogie, no closer—and spits a nasty cocktail of biotoxins at her foe, spraying the buneary's plush fur with droplets of sticky purple goo. She dances back before she even finishes forcing the toxic through her lips, not waiting for Enver to swing out with another fist before getting herself the heck out of the way.

Perhaps this was a mistake, however. Maybe it would've been smarter to just slug the impudent little rabbit right then and there. A solid smack, she realizes too late, would have thrown him off his game. As it is, the poison droplets now glistening on his fur do little to break Enver's concentration, and he stands up with a cheerful smile and a clenched fist that show no indication of discomfort or irritation. It takes only a few bounds to cover the distance between him and Button, even with the mawile still backpedaling as fast as she can go, and this time Enver drives his fist cleanly into the side of the steel-type's jaw. Button's vision explodes with stars and she goes down hard, her head ringing like a bell and both mouths hanging slack; she can only just see the accursed buneary still grinning at her through the haze of pain and bursting spots of light.

Enver is gone by the time Button's vision begins to clear, no longer standing around smirking at her or meditating in preparation for another staggering punch. Button's rear jaws are already crackling with the beginnings of another fire fang, but the flames sputter out as confusion takes hold. It takes a minute for her aching head to sort out what has happened, but at length she works it out—there is a hole in one of the patches of charred earth, just the right size for a rascally rabbit to dive into and hide from the thorough gnawing he so richly deserves. Button scowls, leaves off her fire fang entirely and settles for massaging her face while she watches the ground. No sense in wasting any more energy when she's already so sore, but letting her guard down while Enver could be anywhere under there would be a—

Then the ground beneath her gives way as Enver tears through it from below, still strong and cheerful enough to throw another punch that catches Button as she trips and sends her sprawling. He scrambles out from under her, giggling unabatedly and backing up a little to survey his handiwork. All the startled Button can do is curse him under her breath and try her best to remain still for a minute.

That poison can't drag him down soon enough.

Ref's Notes
-Enver's second focus punch rolled a 100, a.k.a. a solid critical hit. Ouch.
-Button stopped her fire fang early when she realized she couldn't hit Enver, so she only used half the energy for the move.
-Button technically went over the damage cap since subs and other self-damaging moves ignore it, just in case you were wondering why she's lost more than 50% health.
-arrrgleblarg ridiculous wait times wtf
-Zhorken attacks first next round.

First, Protect against Pain Split or Super Fang. Drain Punch her energy if she uses Rest or if she's readying Counter; make sure she's actually asleep, though, and not just being tricky. Otherwise, Jump Kick.

Second action is pretty much the same. Jump Kick by default; if you've scored with one kick, though, just go for another without even waiting to see what she does. Otherwise, punch her in the energy if she uses Rest, Counter, or (this time) Swallow. If she tries Pain Split or Super Fang, break her focus with a well-placed Fake Out; if you can't totally prevent one of those, at least aim to throw it off so it doesn't get to do a full zillion damage.

Finally, if she pulled off a Swallow, just keep punching at her energy. Otherwise, same as the second action, except we're back to using Protect against Pain Split and Super Fang.

And don't forget to hold your nose whenever you can!

Jump Kick/Drain Punch/Protect ~ Jump Kick/Drain Punch/Fake Out ~ Jump Kick/Drain Punch/Protect

Sucker Punch x3 if you can land a sucker punch so Jump Kick fails and Enver trips over, that'd be super neat, but just do your best.

2015 Zhorken edit: Zylinth gets 2 exp/happiness; Deuce, Button, and Enver get 1. $8 for each of us; $5 for Kratos. Any old reffings Kratos might want to claim should be claimed separately.
