Wanting to buy a new console

I really shouldn't have bothered making a new thread for this, but... I do need help with this decision.

So with the Christmas money I've recently acquired, I figured it would be a good idea to buy a new gaming console. (Or possibly, an old gaming console).

So here's what you should know:
- I have a 3DS, a Wii, and an Xbox 360 that I co-own with my brother but I admittedly never use.
- My roommate has a Wii U that I have somewhat restricted access to, but I haven't ruled out the possibility of getting my own.
- If the PS4 was backward compatible, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. There are quite a few PS3 games I would still be interested in playing (HD Shadow of the Colossus, Journey, MGS Legacy Collection).

So hopefully someone better informed than I can give me some good advice here.

If your in to action games, then definitely a PS3. It has Kingdom Hearts 1.5 (1 Final Mix, re:Chain, and all the cutscenes from 358/2 Days), MGRR, which is a pretty good hack n' slash, the Devil May Cry HD set, and Okami HD. In the future KH 2.5 (2 Final Mix, which is by the way my favorite action game, Birth by Sleep, and all the cutscenes from re:Coded) and Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns.

the PS3 is still a worthy investment. i wouldn't count on much being out for the PS4 even next year, and the PS3 has a very wide library of games to choose from for any genre you might happen to be into, ranging from the likes of the Metal Gear Legacy Collection (contains every single game in the Metal Gear series, bar the GBC game, Acid and Revengeance for the price of one game), to White Knight Chronicles, Ratchet & Clank, Sly, etc (both of which are available via HD collections)

it also has the benefit of having a pretty big selection of PS1 games, and a few PS2 games, under the PSone Classics and PS2 Classics, with titles like Alundra, Crash, Spyro, Xenogears, God Hand or Persona 3 under their belt, all $10 or less.

also to add onto that, there's Playstation+; for $50 a year, you can subscribe to Sony's membership with benefits such as discounts on digital titles, and a pretty sizable selection of titles you can obtain for free and play so long as you maintain that membership (the free games library is also updated every week, and you get to keep anything removed from the library too. if your membership expires, you can't play them, but if you renew it at any point, you can play them and re-download them as much as you want)

Seeing how there's a bunch of PS3 games you want, I think a PS3 would be good for you.

If you like it from what you've tried, I could also recommend getting your own Wii U you can use whenever you want (that's mostly me being a Nintendo fangirl though), but you have to consider just how many games you really want for it and how much you want them.

I kind of, well, found a big wad of cash that I'd hidden away over eight years ago, and with that I think I want to buy a PS3 and a Wii U.

There are a myriad of PS3 games that I'd like to play but there are also a lot of Wii U games coming out that I'd really like to play (SSB4 and Mario Kart 8), plus Wind Waker HD.

i'd say buy one first, put the rest of the money away and save up a bit more money for a while before using some of that money you found towards the other system with some of what you save up now; that extra money may come in handy in the future if something comes up
