A Complete History and Analysis of Extrava in Words
In Which We Discuss the Origins of Extrava Itself
It is the lore of Extrava that there are the Three Lords. Each controls multiple corresponding elements of Extrava that are very important to its existence. Virtus is the lord of the ground, order, and knowledge. Opuletia is the lord of the sky, chaos, and will. Lastly, Praenato is the lord of the water, ecstasy, and emotion. Although the lords are constantly quarreling, all of their elements are necessary for the existence of Extrava. Without any one of them, the entire world would fall into despair.
The Origins of the Nations
These are the lords of Extrava. Extrava itself is as old as the lords are. When they were fashioned by the Great One, they were all sent to a barren world as a punishment. It is here that they thought for millennia, and decided the ideals that were important to them. To Virtus, peace and love throughout the world was important. To Opuletia, personal satisfaction and wealth was important. To Praenato, the mutual need of both sides of a conflict was important. The lords concluded that all of these elements are important, but still held those in the highest respect. Together, they cast their differences aside to create a world where they rule as supreme, and all of their underlings think as they do. Thus, Extrava was born.
The Natures of the Nations
The birth of the nations was the result of the lords’ pursuit of a land fitting of them. Virtus created his great country of Beneloventia. Existing on the land, Beneloventia believed that intelligence was the most important characteristic, and the government was of most importance. The citizens were good-natured and very wise. Opuletia created his great country of Cotentio. Existing on a skyward island, Cotentio believed that physical strength was the most important characteristic, and that the military was of most importance. The citizens were very isolated and did not often rely on others. Praenato created his great country of Prosus. Existing on a marine island, Prosus believed that selflessness was the most important characteristic, and that the justice system was of most importance. The citizens were very easy-going and cared for each other greatly.
Because of the thrifty eye of Virtus and the friendly attitude of Praenato, Prosus and Beneloventia created an alliance. However, the selfish nature of Opuletia repelled him from Beneloventia. The mutual need of commerce created a trading alliance between Prosus and Cotentio.
Advancements
All of the nations advanced much differently. Cotentio learned to use wind power, Prosus utilized hydropower, and Beneloventia harnessed the sun’s power to create energy. Everything in the nations was vastly different, from architecture to daily used inventions.
In Which We Discuss The Progressions Of The Nations
The nations were not peaceful forever. Beneloventia’s spite toward Opuletia was a constantly salted sore, with little skirmishes on the land in the sky negating their relationship further. Prosus was unhappy about the frequent tension, but Praenato’s nervousness in pressured situations prevented him from speaking up in the beginning of it. However, without interference, the battles continued. They worsened as time went on, shifting from harmless fist-on-fist fights to fully-fledged mini-battles with sword and bow. This constant bitterness completely tested Praenato’s persistence, and he stood his own ground for a while, but eventually, the great land of Prosus stepped into the battles; not with weapons of destruction, but weapons of speech. Calm, suave words put sense into the fighters. However, it was not good enough—the battles continued until the infamous Battle of the Horizon.
The Battle of the Horizon
The Beneloventians were unaware of the battle at its beginning. Yet, as soon as the Cotentians began to reach the ground, the once oblivious citizens knew what was happening. They readied their swords and prepared for battle. Steel clashed on steel, a sea of arrows in the sky. Fire spewed from the mouths of the mighty Cotentian dragons, and the earth beneath their feet shifted as the Beneloventian earthbulls pounded their wide feet on the ground. By the time the battle had cleared, the very few remaining warriors returned home, battered and bruised.
The International War
A day after the Battle of the Horizon, Beneloventia declared war on Cotentio. Cotentio mainly battled by dropping explosives onto Beneloventian ground, while Beneloventia fired projectiles at the floating island of Cotentio. When one of the air raids destroyed a major Prosussian city, Prosus declared war on Cotentio as well. Nautical attacks became a normal part of the war after Prosus entered. Double-teamed, Cotentio was quickly brought to its knees and seceded. It has been said that the floating island of Cotentio has drifted ten leagues away from Beneloventia since the International War.
The Interpeace Period
The Interpeace Period was a time that stretches from the end of the International War until present. This is a period of no war-related struggles between the Nations. However, relations between Prosus and Cotentio have been cut short.
In Which We Discuss The Religion Of The Extravian People
While Beneloventia and Prosus worship the Great One, alleged creator of the lords and known universe, much of Cotentio is known to worship a deity known as Res.
Resism
Reportedly, Res is a source of energy that resides in and makes up every article in this universe and the ones behind. It provides all things with willpower and intelligence. A being that is made purely of Res, called Lar, is thought to be its own dimension of existence with in itself. Resins, worshippers of Res, believe that if they do not disrupt Res, they will live in Lar during the afterlife, and will become part of the entirety of Res. That said, it is believed that Res contains the spirits of all things that have ever lived in any universe, known or unknown. If any Res is purely destroyed, its destroyer is sentenced to an afterlife in the opposite of Lar, Labes. Labes is a universe that exists of all things that do not contain Res. If you are banished to Labes, all memory of you is erased. For this reason, no known people exist in Labes.
Monoism
Monoism is the belief that a single god, The Great One (or simply God), fashioned the lords in his own image to rule over the land of Extrava. Ideally, Monoism is the same as Christianity. However, it has not progressed as far as our beliefs are because only a single profit of The Great One has ever come to Extrava.
The Odyne Society
Undoubtedly, the Odyne Society are the most frightening factor of Extrava. More frequently called the Odynes, this terrorist group is an exclusive batch of conquistadors who roam all of the Nations, relentlessly killing all who come across them. Supposedly, they are immortal, but they can be and have been killed. They are lead by Aachi and his assistant Sirius. Their motives are unknown, although it is widely thought they aim to destroy the Peacekeepers.
The Peacekeepers
The Peacekeepers are a band of trained warriors. From each sentient, non-human race that inhabits Extrava (cherubs, dragonkin, elves, harpies, kitsune, goblin, and mohac), one representative that is particularly powerful is chosen by a mysterious, unnamed force to join the Peacekeepers. They draw power from what seems to be Res, although they are Monoist. They exist for four reasons: to protect the people of Extrava; to defeat the Odynes; to form a mutual relation between the Nations; and to discover the source of their power. The lead Peacekeeper is the cherub named Caine.
