Koutus (F) [Static]
Health: 9%
Energy: 36%
Status: Poisoned (very severe: 4% last round, 5% this); Hidden Power [Grass]; miserable and barely able to stand
Koutus's Commands: Flail ~ Flail ~ Flail

Arena: Imperial City ruins

The Imperial City used to be teeming with activity. However, with the fall of the Empire, it was quickly weathered down to an almost flat ground. Although it was tall enough to be seen from anywhere in Cyrodiil, even White Gold Tower has been reduced to nothing but dust. The only thing that still stands intact is the Temple Cauldron which is protected by the power of the Divine, Akatosh.

During each round, there is a 20% chance of the Divine, Talos, joining his power with that of Akatosh and causing the Dragonfires to ignite in the cauldron for 5 rounds. Its mysterious energy raises the power of Fire and Dragon type moves by 1.25 times the normal amount. However, the spirit of the flame burns brightly in the hearts of all Pokemon which cancels all effects of the Burn status other than the damage.

The presence of the two Divines suppresses evil, causing all Dark type moves to do only 3/4 of the normal damage. Also, Dark type Support moves have no effect (meaning that Nasty Plot would be useless, but Crunch can still lower your Defense).

Round Twelve: Begin

Flail?

The last thing Koutus wants to have to deal with in her current state, bruised, battered and feeling horribly sick, is trying to figure out confusing commands. But her trainer, perhaps befuddled in his desperation, has asked her to use an attack that she's absolutely sure she doesn't know. She bites her lip and runs down her list of familiar commands, hoping that the name or how it's done will spring out at her. Fire fang, flamethrower, flash... no, no, neither her trainer nor her parents ever taught her anything about "flailing", at least not that she can remember. Now in a state of panic the Electrike tries to make up something plausible to try instead, something, anything she can do before her opponent cuts her down outright. By sheer luck she finds herself with more precious time to fabricate something--Bel, smiling nastily, opens her mouth, lifts her paw to take a step forward and then falls spectacularly, her limbs locking up before she can complete the motion. She trips and slides through the mud for a good foot before stopping, her open mouth filling with slimy, sludgy gravel.

Dirt flies in Koutus's direction as Bel coughs and spits furiously, trying hard to rid her mouth of the disgusting grit while struggling to get her feet back underneath her. While she does manage to expel most of the gravel, and the rain falling directly onto her face finally removes much of the same from her eyes, her legs remain stubbornly uncooperative, leaving her twitching on the ground as Koutus makes her tentative approach. The Electrike takes a deep breath and then breaks into a trot, swiping wildly at her foe with her paws when she makes contact. She flails around as best she can, but even in her desperation her attempt is less than spectacular. Without a proper understanding of the technique she can't put the right amount of force behind it, and she gives Bel only a few extra scratches and bruises.

Heartened by the fact that she's at least found something to do Koutus continues her attack, scratching and pummeling away for all she's worth. Her good fortune runs out in a matter of seconds, however. Bel's limbs are finally regaining their coordination, but now that there's no more gravel and debris in her mouth she doesn't even need them--Koutus is plenty close enough to attack. Golden discs of energy form between her bared fangs, flattening and stretching out into sparkling stars of light that need only travel a short distance before colliding with the thrashing electric-type. The barrage of tiny stars drives Koutus away; her pained scurrying quickly degenerates into a weak-kneed stagger as the poison in her bloodstream tightens its grip on her. The flat, stormy ruins, the sneering Bel, the last bit of light from the dying cauldron fire, everything blends into a fuzzy, muddy mess of brown before fading to gray and then black. Koutus lists over onto her side and goes limp, unable to continue.

Cauldron fire: extinguished
Rain Dance: 2 rounds, 2 actions remaining

Ref's Notes
-I think you got your Pokémon confused again, Blastoise. :/ Electrike doesn't learn Flail. Koutus tried her best to approximate it on the second and third actions, but too little, too late, I'm afraid.
-Bel was fully paralyzed on the first and second actions.
-Koutus fainted due to poison at the end of the third action.
-The cauldron fires burned out at the end of the round.
-Blastoise sends out and attacks first next round.

gah, were did I get that from?

Sorry, girl, you did well.

Go China.

Sig. Attribute: A Good Polishing

Start with Ancient Power. Then Earthquake followed by Stealth Rock. If you can't hit the dog, use Safeguard. If you can't hit it but you've used Safeguard, use Iron Defense.

Right, you've done well so far Bel. Let's put as big of a dent as we possibly can in that over-sized floating coin!

Alright, stop that Stealth Rock with Taunt now that the cauldron's stopped. Next, give an Overheat all you've got! Then if you're still up for it, go with Will-o-Wisp.

Round Thirteen: Begin

Koutus's blue fur turns red for just a moment before her entire body dissolves into a flash of red light. Bel does her best to keep her tail wagging despite the persistent rain and her various injuries; she may have another opponent to face, and the odds may be against her, but she's proud of how well she was able to mess up the ugly conehead dog's tacky coat.

The last Pokémon Blastoise ushers onto the field, his Bronzor, is far sparklier than Koutus even with its average color scheme. China's well-polished surface shines as the first drops of rain hit it, then becomes a dazzling display as the flames in the cauldron roar back into life. Reflected reds, greens, blues and golds dance across its impassive face, making it a little difficult to look at directly even in the overcast environment. What's more, the fire is working its righteous magic on Bel again--try as she might, she just can't think of any insults or other hurtful things to say to her new opponent. Your surface is so pretty--no, that's wrong. What's with the high polish? You sparkle like the stars at night--dammit, no! Those are all nice things! There simply isn't a scathing remark left in her head.

A few new ones come to mind when China begins to glow on her own, mere seconds before the several large stones erupt from the rubble beneath her feet. Bel is thrown into the air on impact as more and more rocks pummel her from below, and she hits the ground hard when the onslaught stops at last. China's aura fades, leaving it just as sparkly and brilliant as ever and Bel looking much worse for wear.

Steam starts to rise from Bel's body as she stands again, her temperature rising to unbearably hot levels. The air around her shimmers and distorts in the intense heat radiating out from her form. A few tiny jets of flame burst from between her jaws and out of her ears; those little flares are quickly extinguished by the heavy rainfall, but the explosion of flames that follows is much harder to put out. Fire shoots out from Bel's body in all directions, scorching the stones and the side of the cauldron directly behind her. China, hovering over the ground some distance away, is not spared the blast of angry red flames. It cannot scream without a mouth, but its yellow eyes widen with pain and horror as its finds herself engulfed in the inferno. Mercifully, the overheat is finished in a matter of seconds--Bel sits down, spent and smoking slightly, and the circle of flames around her dies down. She pants and surveys the damage she caused with a critical eye. The rubble around her is blackened, the cauldron is sporting dark burn marks, and China looks quite miserable. A shame the rain is cooling it off--still, the stupid flying dish deserves it after throwing all those rocks around.

But then the ground begins to tremble beneath her paws. China's eyes, now back to their normal impassive stare, are flashing a deep brown, and with every pulse another seismic wave rumbles through the earth. The ruins groan as their damaged foundations shake, and Bel finds herself bouncing across the ground. Fresh spikes of pain run through her with each landing; the last tremor nearly throws her into the cauldron again. Stars in every color of the rainbow dance in and out of the Houndour's vision and her entire body is screaming in agony. China simply stares down at its half-conscious foe, satisfied. And you deserved that.

Bel groans. It feels like the earthquake is still rattling her bones, and the awful pins and needles feeling still lingering from Koutus's thunder doesn't make it any easier to move. Miserable and dejected, she simply lies motionless on the wet, steamy ground and lets her jaw go slack, allowing a wisp of bluish flame to snake its way out from between her teeth. By some miracle it manages to dart around most of the falling raindrops on its way over to China; the wisp touches its face and leaves what looks like a nasty burn, although the cool rain quickly soothes much of the pain.

Having its pretty, shiny face marred once is bad enough--China isn't willing to stand for two ugly burns on its finely-polished surface. The earth around Bel begins to shake and tremble yet again, but this time only a few small rocks and pieces of masonry rise up. The sharpened stones hover in a ring around the Houndour but make no move to get any closer. Bel watches them through the black tunnel swirling in her peripheral vision, half wishing they'd just home in and finish her off or something.

.....Bel, amazing job. I think you've earned a nice rest. I hereby call back Bel from this match in order to send out my next Pokemon.

(I presume I'm allowed to do that O.o)

You can, but since you're attacking first you still need to send out Rory and issue commands for him.

Alrighty, thanks for that, and sorry for the late postings too T_T

I call back Bel and send out my last Pokemon. Come on out Rory!

Right, this over-sized dime is going down! Start with a Sunny Day, get that rain out of your face. Then go for a nice Blaze Kick right in the "face". After that, replace any lost health with Drain Punch!

Round Fourteen: Begin

Bel, now on her last legs, is eternally grateful for the red beam of light that whisks her back into her poké ball and away from the irritating China. China blinks impassively through the rain, not really all that surprised by its opponent's sudden retreat. She was facing the Amazing Astounding and Most Beautiful China, after all. Getting her behind handed to her was a given.

No one seems to have told Rory the Riolu about the inevitability of being handed his own behind, however, as the young fighting-type is as excited and enthusiastic as ever when he takes the Houndour's place on the field. He shakes a little as the rain strikes him, the aura sensors hanging from his head flapping comically, and then locks eyes with the lightly-singed Bronzor hovering a few yards away. He gives China a smug salute and then immediately launches into a hop-skip dance, paying little mind to the floating rocks that still surround him and poke his arms and legs as he takes off. More ridiculous flopping ensues as he leaps about with his head thrown back and his arms pointing to the sky. Heavy clouds begin to inch away from the area as the sky gods consider his offering, and the raindrops begin to shrink and thin. The sun peeks out from behind the suffocating black blanket for the first time in a long while, casting its light down on the drenched rubble.

And then Rory finds himself tossed into the air and slammed down into the gravel mid-prance. China's eyes glow dully as it switches to dragging Rory face-first through the dirt. Shards of mortar and chunks of earth build up in the Riolu's mouth, leaving him choking and spitting when China finally relinquishes its hold on him. The clouds above stop their retreat, and while the rain does not return the sunlight does not intensify, either.

Rory, still gagging and rubbing furiously at his soiled tongue with one paw, staggers to his feet and glares at China. Stupid floaty shiny thing thinks it can just drag him around while he's in the middle of something, does it? He takes a few steps back toward the cauldron, its flames now burning much higher without the rain to hinder them, and then sprints forward and throws himself through the ring of rocks and into the air. His right foot glows red and ignites as he leaves the ground; he grimaces a little as the heat makes him uncomfortable, but the minor inconvenience will be more than worth it when he sees the ugly black scorch mark the blaze kick leaves on China's face. In his haste, however, he misjudges the distance between himself and his foe--perhaps those few extra steps for his running start weren't such a hot idea after all--and hits the ground about a foot in front of where China hovers.

If the Bronzor was at all concerned about the fiery kick coming its way, it doesn't betray its emotions. Its golden eyes simply begin to glow again as if Rory hadn't even moved. The Riolu flinches and throws up his arms in the vain hope that this will soften the impact of a second painful psychic, but the mirror Pokémon is not currently exerting any mental influence over him. The now-clear air around the ruins warps and distorts as China prepares a second trick room, invisible psychic energy surrounding the area and wreaking havoc with the dimensions. When Rory lets his arms fall they feel much, much heavier, more awkward, as if something is pulling at them and slowing them down; China, on the other hand, feels a little extra bounce in its float.

With the trick room on its side, China has no trouble acting before its opponent and focusing its thoughts on Rory before the little fighting-type has time to react. Rather than harming him directly, however, it places a mental lock on the natural restorative processes in his body. Rory can't exactly determine what China has just done to him, but he does know that it makes him feel even funnier and more awkward, and that it also makes him want to punch it in its face. The ring of rocks jabs at him again as he darts forward, fist drawn back, and throws his paw into China's nose. The blow knocks the Bronzor back a few inches but accomplishes little else; with the heal block in place around him the Riolu cannot pull any of China's energy away from it, reducing his attack to nothing more than a simple jab. He backs away and stares at his fist, concerned. Why isn't anything going right?

Round Fifteen: Begin

The strange energy filling the arena continues to tug at Rory's limbs and make him feel uncomfortable, but the riolu isn't that upset. There's more than one way to ensure that he can make the first strike, after all! He closes his red eyes and concentrates fighting energy into his paws, sending it shooting forward at high velocity and striking China before it can react. The sudden attack startles the bronzor, but it doesn't feel much pain. Still, perhaps it does throw it off its game just a little, as it finds itself having a hard time concentrating on the pulses of psychic energy it directs at its opponent. Rory fails to notice the hypnosis entirely, too distracted by his own strike to care much about whatever else China might be doing.

But counting it out entirely proves to be a mistake. China's second hypnosis, after it takes a little time to settle itself down, is successful, and the brain waves traveling through the air cause Rory to sink to his knees and pass out within seconds. He snores gently at the foot of the blazing cauldron, snorting slightly when he accidentally inhales a little gravel dust and dreaming about totally decimating China with a mighty blaze kick.

Dreaming does not make it so, however, and China remains definitively un-blaze kicked and able to continue its own offensive. It taps into the riolu's mind and, after a few moments of deliberation, plucks out a few choice dreams--can't leave that one about blaze kicking Chinas in there, oh, no, that's dangerous--and converts them into energy. The amount it recovers is little more then negligible, but as long as Rory doesn't have that energy then it's a good use of the bronzor's time.

Round Sixteen: Begin

China can feel its trick room beginning to lose its grip on the city's ruins, so it plows ahead while it still has its speed advantage. It reaches out to the sleeping riolu slumped on the ground and links its thoughts with his, then starts to sift through his mind until it finds the parts of his brain responsible for his steadfast nature. The bronzor stealthily plucks those faculties from Rory's mind and takes them for itself, replacing them with a taste if its psychic powers. It is forced to break the connection and focus consciously on hovering in order to remain airborne without said powers, but staying a few feet above the earth isn't too taxing. Rory, meanwhile, is now hovering a few inches off of the ground in his sleep, his arms, legs, tail and aura sensors dangling comically beneath him.

Rory starts to mumble and flail around in midair, apparently scrabbling for some sort of purchase in an attempt to stand up. Several seconds of aimless struggling finally results in the riolu scooting around the burning cauldron in a half-hover, half-hop-skip that is nevertheless performed at an impressive pace. His form becomes an erratic blur that doesn't stop its wild circuit of the cauldron even when he collides with one or two of the rocks hovering silently in the area. When his awkward shuffle stops he is joined by four identical sleeping riolu. The quintet's midair bobbing becomes more energetic as the last of the time-warping aura fades away, restoring the area to its natural state.

Without the effects of the trick room bogging him down, Rory and his clones are able to react much faster this time. All five riolu mumble and snort dreamily for a few seconds and then shoot forward with one arm raised. Each speeds through the stealth rock barrier on its way over to the startled China; one riolu disappears as it hits a floating stone head on, but the others seem to dash by unscathed. Four paws, each baring exposed claws now oozing dark, purplish energy, swing down and slash across China's face. Only one actually connects, but the one shadow claw is sufficient to give the bronzor an unpleasant scratch.

China moves back a foot or two as Rory and his clones retreat, eager to put a bit more distance between itself and the baby fighting-type. Nothing that's asleep should be so quick to attack, jeez... but then, it reasons, it wasn't that bad. Nothing that can't be deal with after a little cool down time. The bronzor closes its yellow eyes and relaxes, emptying its mind of all that unnecessary anxiety so as to leave more room for a better Rory-crushing strategy.

China soon finds its meditation interrupted by more mumbling from the other side of the field, however. This time Rory and his posse of doppelgangers zip through the stealth rocks with both arms raised, and they bring them down on China in a swift cross chop. The blow, much harder than the previous shadow claw, sends the steel-type reeling through the air. China nearly bounces across the ground a few times before stopping itself, then turning to glare at the snoring Rory.

The snoring doesn't continue for too long, however. China grabs at one of the four riolu and, luckily, manages to mentally latch on to the real McCoy. Rory is jolted into wakefulness by a sudden, sharp pain digging away at his head and sides, quickly compounded when China lifts him up and slams him into the ground once, twice, thrice. The three extra riolu flicker and disappear when China drops Rory to the ground, leaving him alone and confused in front of the cauldron. He starts slightly when he resumes floating, momentarily convinced that he must still be dreaming; when the pain doesn't go away and the hovering doesn't stop, he sighs. Ordinarily he might think this was kind of cool, but his grogginess and dour mood don't leave much room for childish excitement. China did something to him, and whatever it was it can't have been intended as anything good for his health.

Round Sixteen: Close

Bronzor
China (X) [Levitate] [Steadfast]
Health: 50%
Energy: 43%
Sig Mod: A Good Polishing
Status: Special Attack +1, Special Defense +1; Burned (light); why does this not seem to be going so well all of a sudden?

Arena Status: The uncomfortable speed-warping aura has disappeared again, leaving the arena more or less normal (if still wet and cold). Hailstones of various sizes litter the muddy ground. The dragonfires of the cauldron, while still sapping all of the darkness they can from the area, are starting to die down.

Cauldron fire: 1 round remaining
Trick Room: ended

Ref's Notes
-Sleep talk called double team (which produced four clones), shadow claw and cross chop.
-Rory lost a clone when it ran into the stealth rock; the other clones disappeared when he was hit by psychic.
-Rory woke up at the end of the round.
-Blastoise attacks first next round.

Use Facade, then use Mirror Shot until it works, which should do some extra damage due to your awesome shininess. After Mirror Shot has been used successfully, or if it won't hit again for some reason (dig, etc. not including substitute), use Reflect, but if he's obviously not attacking (Bulk Up, etc.) use Rollout.

Alright! You've got your Speed back, now confuse the hell out of that floating dinner plate by creating a large Substitute and dashing for cover. Once you're out of sight, perform a Swords Dance, though if it spots you, ruin its perfect sheen with the grinding dirt of Mud Slap. Before it can do anything else, surprise it with a nice fat Blaze Kick to the face.
