Open Yoa the Utopia (non-pokemon)

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

For some reason, what he said seemed funny.
Ack, I almost laughed.. yup, I'm losing it.
"I think that's okay. Mom said you're not supposed to take out bullets or knives in this type of situation. If you do, it starts bleeding even more and you die.. I wish sh-"
She was cut off by Chsa coming into the hut. Ismene stopped mid-sentence, watching with embarrassment as he left.
"I don't think he's stupid. And no he hasn't."

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chsa smiled. "He's a good kid really." Sighing, she continued "Sorry, we're all a little stressed right now."

If the bullet had punctured any internal organs, Ismene would have been done for. But the fact she had been alert and talking for so long led Chsa to believe Ismene could be on the mend.

"We'll need to find your family so they can come and get you. By the end of the day, we're abandoning the base, so there will be nobody left here to care for you." Chsa explained with a heavy heart. "I'm sorry to have to rush you off in this condition... where do you live?"

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

The change in Ismene's demeanor was instant. She froze at the word 'family', then stared blankly into space for a minute, remembering.. then she snapped out of her reverie, looking slightly embarrassed.
"My house is about a mile off that way," she pointed to the east momentarily. "My family is dead. All shot by soldiers last year. I live alone."
She said this bluntly, in a matter-of-fact tone that hid all emotions. If she did, she would start thinking more about them, and then start crying. She refused to cry, even when she'd been shot herself: it showed weakness.

Chsa understood Ismene's tone and spoke of it no more.

This certainly made things more complicated. She couldn't leave her on her own, not while she was still unable to defend herself. She patched up the wound with cotton and plant fibres, doing her best to keep the flies away.

"You won't make it back home, not like this..." As much as she was willing to help, she was always wary of outsiders, so this required some careful consideration before making her offer. "You may come with us. We are heading North, to the mountain forests. The ground there is more difficult for soldiers to naviage. If you are willing, we will take you. But we cannot risk taking you to your home, there simply is not enough time."

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Ismene's face brightened immediately.
"Really? I'd really like to come. I.. honestly don't care about going back home."
That was mostly true, at least the first part. She was glad to leave: her house was a depressing place in general. She'd grown up there, lived there forever.. but that was also where her parents and sister had died. They were buried behind it. She had no real possessions of note there, the only things that were important such as her knife and a few other things were in a leather bag around her waist. She knew she would be homesick before long, but there were much more important things than that now.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chali watched from the top of another tree as the distant village of young Yoans gathered. She didn't like traveling, and didn't much like children...but sticking close to a larger group would make things easier for her. If she were to get hurt, perhaps they could help her. And most likely, they had a good spot to hide as well. That could never hurt her chances.

The woman slid down the tree, starting to walk over to them quietly. She'd stick close, but try to stay hidden. For a while, at least.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

((occ: sorry for the lack of activity, I have been very busy and stressed lately and caught a bad case of the writer's block... now my uni application is in I think I can focus a bit better now... I hope you guys still want to take part, understandable if you've forgotten though after all this time))

Chsa helped Ismene slowly walk out of the shanty hut to greet a crowd of children, ranging between the ages of approximately five years to near-adults. Chsa could not allow Ismene any more time to rest, though it would have been preferrable in a normal situation.

The crowd stood chatting around the old fire at the centre of their base. Some children reminisced about their time spent here, since knew very little else. Others seemed excited, chatting with their friends about exploring the world beyond. It was clear many were unaware of the seriousness of the situation. Packed bags sat on backs or on the ashy ground.

"Everyone!" Chsa shouted, waiting until she had all ears on her. "As you're aware of by now we are under threat of attack. The humans are scouring the area, and they are sure to find us soon. That's why we have to leave so suddenly."

She gave everybody a stern glare.

"I don't want anyone being immature about this, do I make myself clear? Our survival depends on teamwork." She paused to allow everyone to nod in agreement. "Let's move out."

Everyone began to follow Chsa in the direction she was walking, into the wilderness. She tried to keep a steady pace knowing Ismene may still have been weak, but at least fast enough to make progress.

Jajio ran to catch up, keen to know how well his new friend was doing.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

((Lost interest?? Heck no!!! This is the first time that the maker on an rp I've joined has come back after inactivity!))

Chali crept a little closer to the large group, keeping an eye out for any of the enemy. She watched the one she'd quickly identified as the 'leader', as well as the wounded young one. "Keep hidden for now, show self later..." she whispered to herself, following after them quickly. She looked at a few of the younger ones, smilings a little. As much as she didn't like children, she had to admit that they were cute.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Ismene followed behind Chsa silently. She was staring blankly off into space and playing mindlessly with her hair, which made her look even more like some kind of small animal cleaning its fur. For now, her side wasn't hurting quite as much, more of a dull ache. She could walk okay, at least. Hopefully she could sleep when they got where ever they were going. Hearing somebody running, she started walking backwards. It was Jajio again. She waved slightly. Something caught her eye; far off behind them, for a moment she thought she saw the outline of a person following them. Dismissing it as nothing, Ismene turned around again and kept walking.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chali watched the group carefully, hiding whenever someone happened to look her way. It didn't matter if they thought she was an enemy, as long as no one really saw her. She looked around, feeling like she herself was being watched, but saw no one. Her gaze went back to the party of children, and she sighed as she kept up with their pace.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Jajio noticed Ismene looking at something behind him. Just then he had the unnerving feeling of eyes setting on the back of his head, and quickly spun around to see if he was being watched. There didn't appear to be anything that would pose a threat - just shrubs and ferns and trees. He rested his hand on the sheath of his knife, but didn't remove it.

"Did you just see something?" He asked Ismene quietly, feeling a little edgy, knowing the armed soldiers were on the hunt for them. He kept a straight face so not to panic the younger members.

Chsa said nothing, but listened carefully as they walked.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

"I thought I saw someone.. couldn't be a soldier, we'd have been shot already. Maybe I just imagined it..", she murmured back hesitantly. But there it was again; the silhouette of somebody walking, someone that seemed too tall to be anyone in the group.
"Just now, I saw them again. Think we should do something about them?"

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

"Jajio" Chsa summoned.

When he neared Chsa whispered into his ear. When Chsa was finished, Jajio gave her a brief glance. It was a half-hearted protest, and within seconds he did as he was told.

"I'm just gonna watch over the back of the line." He informed to Ismene before beginning to walk in the direction everyone was moving away from.

His heart was thudding violently within his chest. Being the tallest at the back of the line within ideal firing range wasn't much of a comfort. His panicked state of mind had him convinced they were being followed by trained soldiers with guns, and that they had already caught up.

So many innocent lives would come to an end, and he was the only one standing between the soldiers and the children. Part of him fumed that Chsa always gave dim dirtiest, riskiest jobs, but another part of him wanted to make sure his adopted siblings would make it to their destination in one piece.

He walked slowly backwards behind the stragglers of the group, keeping an eye out for any sights or sounds of movement.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chali froze for a moment as the young man seemed to notice her, slipping through the brush as quickly as she could to try and reach their blind spot as he walked behind the others. {Great...I guess I need to work on my stealth...} she thought for a moment as she hid behind a few trees. {Oh well...if worse comes to worse, I'll just have to stop following them...}

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

The overcast sky dulled. Not as much light reached the forest floor as it did earlier on. The air began to smell different, the insects and birds changed their tune. It had been nearly ten hours since they had left, and Chsa had decided that it was necessary for many of the younger children to get some rest.

Chsa stopped by the shore of a lake and unloaded the leather bag she had been carrying from her aching shoulder.

"It's getting dark, let's rest for the night." She quietly suggested.

The younger kids began to disorganize, some flopping down on the pebbles out of exhaustion, others kneeled down at the water's edge sipping at the water to quench their dehydration.

Jajio had settled down from earlier. He was the last to reach the water's edge, but he didn't plan on rest. There were more pressing matters to attend to, such as the empty stomachs there were to feed. While Chsa started on making a fire, he spent some time rummaging around for a good, long, sturdy looking stick.

He took out his knife and began to sharpen the end.

"Ismene... do you fish?" He enquired, hoping to impress her with his skills.

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chali walked a ways away from the group, going to the lakes edge as well. It was highly unlikely that anyone had really followed them all this way...but then again, she had, hadn't she? She washed her hands and feet in the water, grabbing a couple of small fish as they swam past, then started up a small, smokeless fire. Anyone overhead would be able to see it, but hopefully she would remain unseen by the group of children.

It took only a few minutes for the fish to completely cook, and Chali ate them quickly before putting out her fire. She spread the coals carefully in a small ditch she'd dug, then covered them with a few inches of dirt before putting down a small woven mat from her pack. It would keep her clean and dry, and the coals would keep her warm through the night. She was close enough to the small group to keep an eye on them while they were resting, and hopefully just out of sight for them not to notice her.

"Sometimes, not that often. Do you mean with a fishing pole or a spear? I'm better with the second one, but.."
Ismene shrugged and answered distantly, looking distracted. She watched the fish swimming past them; small silvery blurs. There was something surreal about this particular day; from normal life to soldier attacks to fishing. What next? Explosions and talking animals?
"Wonder if there was someone actually there.. the one I though I saw."

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

Chali lay on her grass mat, watching the group quietly. There was something calming about watching others as they went about their lives. Their personalities showed through in whatever was done, and Chali couldn't help but imagine what their stories were. Stories were the lifeblood of hope, and that was one thing that she hung to like nothing else. The young man and injured girl seemed particularly interesting.

It looked like they were going fishing, and hopefully they'd do well. If not...perhaps Chali would leave them a few for the morning. She'd only caught two for herself in a few minutes. So if she spent an hour waiting, she could get a fish for all of them, perhaps...

Chali sighed a little, rubbing her head and shifting on her mat. "Perhaps I should have stayed at home..."

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

"Spear fishing." Jajio grinned.

Being the second oldest in the group, it was often his job to bring back food. He figured today was no exception, and that he would need to catch for more than just a couple of fish to keep everyone happy.

He glared the trouble boys who sat on the rocks just a few metres away who whined about being hungry. They were beginning to get old enough to do it themselves, but they had been babied by Chsa for so long. He shouted at them to get busy and start catching some fish of their own, but they pretended not to hear him.

Which begged the question... where was Chsa?

"Ismene" A voice came from the forest behind them. Chsa had returned with herbs, and a makeshift pestel and mortar. "Your dressing needs changed, don't want it getting infected."

At that moment a flock of panicked birds tore across the sky as fast as they could. They were flying away from the South, the same direction that the group were fleeing from. They were followed by another flock of a different species. Something near by was scaring them. It would turn out to be a long, sleepless night for those who had any idea about what sort of danger they were in.

The next morning would turn out to be cool and full of an unusual smog...

Re: Yoa the Eutopia (non-pokemon)

When Chali woke, she eyed the smog carefully, quickly packing up her things. She slipped closer to the other camp, watching the south nervously.

"What's going on...?" she whispered to herself. She grabbed a few different types of roots from nearby and washed them in the lake, nibbling little bits off them while they were still raw. Chali kept a close eye on the camp, watching for the others to wake up.
