PARANORMASIGHT mafia

Some final thoughts on the day:

Mayu’s early push into the thread gave me high hopes for the rest of her day that I don’t really feel have been met - yes, I realize these are my own expectations and may be unrealistic, but calling my opener a “nothingburger” gave me the impression that she’s the type to call it like she sees it quickly, and read into things. I haven’t seen much of that since. I’m mulling that over but still would be disinclined to vote Mayu.

Yoko is in a similar vein wherein her opener implied that she is the type to mediate and as such talk to people - or at least it gave me that impression.

Maybe I just have high expectations.

Another thing of note - should Tetsuo be good-aligned, Richter may be suspect.

That said, it’s only a small point against, given that Richter’s reasoning for the vote is sound enough. Weak, yes, but sound.

It is still something to consider that Richter may have taken the opportunity to push a good-aligned wagon into the lead on votes.

This is to say, I cannot say this is an argument I can believe until we see the outcome of the day one way or another. It is not a particularly compelling reason enough to say that Tetsuo must not be voted today.

I shall be here until the end of the day, should anyone wish to talk last minute.
are you planning on voting? i was also having similar thoughts about mayu, and i don’t think it’s just you having “high standards” — i think she set high expectations for herself at the beginning of the phase

i’m thinking to just tie it up tbh
mayu chozawa

I do not feel strongly enough about any vote to make an active effort to influence the result, no.

I believe my vote on Yoko went unnoticed, but regardless I was largely using it to ask a louder question.

Unvote

Big aggression and voting out of the gate! What have you done with my tcodfia where everyone just shrugs and abstains day one.

I'm interpreting the big aggression as probably more towny than not, though. Seems kinda galaxy brain to go for that as scum here? Not that that's impossible, but.
This, to reiterate, is what makes me feel that Ayame was trustworthy - I have no great leaning on Mayu either way, but this interpretation feels believable from Ayame herself.

and was also loosely TRed by a bunch of players or at least put into a not-toDay list (including by me) and in a position to coast. i’m fine with either going over

my vanity wagon would be mio but i can’t explain that other than vibes ... and i’d feel bad killing her right now

I do agree that Mio’s entrance was uninspiring in an active rather than passive manner (as with most of the others).

I also agree that I would feel wrong to vote there, but that would be solely based on sentiment.

End of day 1; Tetsuo Tsutsumi was mafia New

Vote count

Tetsuo Tsutsumi (2): Mayu Chozawa (#53), Richter Kai (#54)
Mayu Chozawa (2): Yoko Fukunaga (#13), Shogo Okiie (#66)
Not voting: Yakko Sakazaki, Mio Kurosuzu, Jun Erio, Tetsuo Tsutsumi, Harue Shigima, Richter Kai, Ayame Tono, Mayu Chozawa, Makoto Ashimiya (#51), Natsue Yamamori (#68)

Across cultures and times, nightfall is seen as a boundary of mystical significance. In an age of science and technology such as this, we are aware that the length of the day changes over the course of the year due to the tilt of the Earth's axis relative to the sun. Yet night still scares us. When the sun dips below the horizon, we leave the domain of humans and enter the domain of the fell, the eerie, and the haunting.

Here, in the former Yasuda Gardens, dusk comes with a chill wind, and the wind stirs the pond into gentle waves. The trees seem to whisper to each other. Their branches and leaves shiver. And... is there a wavering light in the distance, or is it simply my imagination?

I have heard your voices throughout this day.

If it is Tetsuo Tsutsumi you wish to erase from the story on this occasion...

So be it.

Tetsuo Tsutsumi was eliminated.

“What the hell did you expect!? She was a baby!”

Tetsuo Tsutsumi, you are a member of the Mafia.

Your role is Flavour Cop. Each night, you may send me the name of one living player, and I will tell you if they have a curse stone. If they have a curse stone, I will tell you what its power is, but I will not tell you its condition. Depending on how closely the condition is tied to the curse stone's power, there may be minor redactions.

You possess the curse stone of the Taiko of Tsugaru.

It is now Night 1. Night 1 ends in 48 hours, at 7 PM ET on February 6, 2026. (countdown timer)

The Storyteller appears on a TV screen and says Oh! Excuse me!

Pardon my interruption of your peaceful night! I have an unexpected announcement to share. Soon, I will be bringing you a brand new tale.

Should you wish to experience either "The Seven Mysteries of Honjo" or "The Mermaid's Curse", they are separate stories which have no bearing on this game of mafia but which I would recommend with utmost enthusiasm.

By the by, if you have not sent me your night actions for Night 1, please note that the night ends in 19 hours.

Please, continue to enjoy this unfolding story!

Start of day 2; Harue Shigima was town, Shogo Okiie was mafia New
Sunrise over the Ryogoku Bridge. The river glows.

This bridge, the second-oldest of those spanning the Sumida River, was built after the Great Fire of 1657, in which many people drowned attempting to escape the flames. Hokusai, perhaps the best-known Japanese woodblock artist, depicted it as part of his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series in the 1830s. At that time, swarms of people traversed the bridge on foot; today, cars whiz by, even in the early hours of the morning.

Such changes are wrought by the passage of time.

Harue Shigima has died.

Harue Shigima from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned middle-aged woman with long black hair

“I think...I need to kill someone.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Harue Shigima, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Motion Detector. Each night, you may send me the name of one other living player. At the end of the night phase, I will tell you one of the following:
  • "Motion was detected around your target", if your target either used a night action or was a target of a night action. You will not know which of these is the case.
  • "Motion was not detected around your target", if your target neither used a night action nor was a target of a night action.

Shogo Okiie has died.

“Suigen Gamyodo my ass. This guy thinks he can sell me anything!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Shogo Okiie, you are a member of the Mafia. However, you do not know who the other members of the Mafia are, they do not know that you are out there, and you do not count as Mafia for the purposes of the Mafia win condition. If there is ever only one Mafia member alive besides yourself, you will learn their identity, but they will not learn yours.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

You possess the curse stone of the Whispering Canal.

Curse bearers and ordinary citizens, I wonder... what shall come of this turn of the page? I look forward to the continuation of the story!

It is now Day 2. Day 2 ends in 72 hours, at 7 PM ET on February 9, 2026. (countdown timer)

Ha! You kids are on fire. I wouldn't want to be on Team Bad Guy right now, that's for sure.

I kinda overslept through those last four hours yesterday, but it looks like I was right about one thing, at least.

After Tetsuo flipped Mafia, I actually started to suspect Shogo for his decision to tie the vote and let it randomize
...And then turns out he didn't even know who was Mafia, plus he's dead so suspecting him doesn't matter much anyway. Well then!
Either way, two scum down, probably one or two to go, I guess?

Based start. A few quick thoughts, will look more in depth later:

- The death of Shogo basically confirms one wolf left, 4-8 seems really unbalanced even with a lost wolf (albeit one that didn't count for parity, so weird implementation of the role). Only question is whether that's all or if there is also a hostile indy
- Don't think it makes sense to massclaim yet, but assuming vig is a one shot they should claim. Shogo makes sense as a town kill as the #55 to #56 progression feels almost outing given the flip (though oddly they were lost wolf) and they would have been my first choice to push today had they not been killed, but Harue isn't exactly who I was expecting the wolves to kill so it might be useful information to deduce whether a SK is laying about
- Based on the general inertia around EoD with a tie involving a wolf, it would suggest that none of the big movers of the day phase were wolves as there wouldn't have been any real risk to breaking the tie; in particular Natsue is highly likely to be town here. Of course, it's possible that both remaining wolves were on the Mayu wagon, but eh.

With these flips in mind, I find it easier to trust Mayu. There IS a world where one could try and bus their partner and use that to lie low, but doing it d1, after catching a lot of heat earlier in the day, and likely while expecting to be the single surviving wolf? Doesn't seem likely

Also, I feel like the mafia likely were responsible for Shogo's death, rather than Harue. They weren't aware of his alignment, and his contribution seemed relatively convincing, so they may have wanted to silence a threat, not knowing it was actually an ally. His role description made no mention of being recruited if targetted by mafia, so this seems at least possible

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I've seen bad guys flip on their friends crazy fast for barely anything in exchange, but when that's what's going on, you see it a lot faster than what happened yesterday.
