• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Pardon the lvl 21 Vivillon with only three moves
I went up against a Black-Write-of-Challenge'd Furisode Girl in the Battle Chateau.

    Also, I'm ready.
I do collect Vivillon. I have some, but idk if they're nonenglish. Even if I did, those are the only ones I have, so I can't trade 'em, sorry.
I'm probably not really the person for this. "What's causing this" and "how does this work" are kind of approaching the thing from completely opposite directions, and I've only done the latter.
Hey, Alti. I remembered you were doing the whole living dex thing, so I thought you could breed a Vullaby for me, pardon the brashness. Any old one will do, it's just for dex purposes. I can get you anything from FR/LG to XY for it.
I've modded the fanfic forum on Serebii since... 2004? I was actually modded in a fit of "let's mod some people who seem vaguely responsible and ask them what forums they'd like to mod", so that's pretty much how it happened.

There is a lot of stupidity on the forums in general, as happens with any forum that big, but the fanfic forum still manages to be surprisingly good.
Serebii actually has the best reviewing culture of any fanfic community I've frequented by a considerable margin. People actually do review, for one, and an exceptionally high ratio of the reviews given are reasonably substantial (this is why we can afford to give out warnings to reviews like your initial one). I don't have to have reviewing guides in my sig, but as a fanfic mod I think promoting good reviewing is a pretty good use of my signature.

It also generally makes sense for mods to hang around the forums they mod, for obvious reasons.

You may be thinking of my less-than-fondness for Serebii the website.
You can help me bug elyvorg about writing more. :D

Whoo you read FC too now you can be initiated into our cult.

(Sorry about your sleep. But you know it was worth it.)
It's actually pretty simple! If your odds of catching the Pokémon are 10% per ball, then your odds of catching it with the first ball must be exactly 10%. The odds you'll catch it with the second ball, though, equal the odds you didn't catch it with your first ball and then do catch it with your second - that is, 90% * 10% = 9%. The odds you'll catch it with your third ball equal the odds you don't catch it with either of your first two but then do catch it with the third - 90% * 90% * 10% = 8.1%. And so on. You're most likely to catch it on your first ball, second most likely to catch it on the second, third most likely to catch it on the third, and so on. Obviously if you have a low per-ball chance you're quite unlikely to catch it on your first ball - it's just that any particular other number of balls is always going to be even less likely.
I mean in the sense of it's a geometric distribution, whose mode (most common value) is always 1.
    Oh noes!!!

I love how if you surveyed thousands of people for exactly how many balls it took to catch any Pokémon, 1 would always be the most common answer (well, unless a sufficient number of people were throwing Timer Balls the entire battle, I guess). Statistics can be so wonderfully counterintuitive.
I'm aware there are lots of people like that. It's just interesting to get such an intimate look into the psyche of an individual case.

I'm amused by how the dude linked to a study with "Look, it's scientifically proven girls want guys with sociopath personalities" and what the study actually found was that people with narcissistic or sociopathic tendencies tend to dress more attractively than average and when they're put in plain clothes and no makeup people don't find them any more attractive than others. In other words, girls aren't attracted to bad boys, bad boys just tend to be good at dressing themselves. I'm genuinely surprised! I actually bought the thing about women being attracted to the bad boys' confidence, but apparently it's not even that. And he's posting this as evidence in his favor.
A lot. As far as Chaletwo knows it's been going on since the beginning of time sometime millions or billions or what-have-you years ago.

(Note that all questions about the War of the Legends are answered strictly on an "as Chaletwo would answer it" basis, so by "as far as Chaletwo knows" I'm not necessarily hinting he's wrong, just reminding you that I'm in general not speaking as Word of God here. No matter what I tell you, it could turn out the War doesn't exist and Chaletwo made it up, or some other thing that completely invalidates everything I've ever said about it.)
My original ideas about the Destroyer were totally Yveltal. Then I thought of way better ideas.
Yeah, I'm sort of the same way. It's a pain to get it all out so I can practise for five minutes and put it away.

    What are you majoring in?
