  • There's a Rayman glove in Prince of Persia? I've played the first one but not any of the others... I'd like to someday, though.
I've only played the original Rayman. And I still haven't even finished it ahaha... it's actually kind of a long/challenging game. At least for me. I should figure out if I can install it on my laptop; it's a bit of an old game and I had a few issues getting it to run on Windows XP. Wonder if Windows 7 can run it...

Ah, the TCG does! I love making avatars and stuff out of them =D I would make tons of just the basic art in avatar form, but that's so easy to get anywhere; I always feel like I have to do my own something to them.
Oh haha! ^_^ I need to read the rest of the thread; I started but I didn't have time to finish. It is kind of cool reading them!

Hmm, interesting, maybe I should make a Sandshrew avatar. =D I like your Houndoom one!
Hello, I am new so I'm trying to gain soe friends. Say, isn't your username the name of the evil hellhound that guards the entrance to Hades. Cool.

    {Man, I would so love a pet like that}
Hey Cerb. Do you think I should make another Houndoom Society or keep with the same one? I was hoping to make it more organized.
I think the big reason that some people say Harry Potter isn't good is because it doesn't have poetic writing. It's not like, say, Tolkien; that is, there aren't huge long descriptions of everything with pretty words. But I find Tolkien and other books that have a high fantasy style of writing really boring, and I prefer things that are written more like how Harry Potter is! Harry Potter puts more focus on the story than on pretty words, and I really care a lot more about story! I tend to just skim if there's a lot of boring desription, and I think most people do that same thing. And it doesn't make sense for them to say it's a bad book series when a huge number of people pick up the books for the hundredth time and still can't put it down even though they've read it so many times already. They're just really good books!

I might be repeating myself here, but NaNoWriMo is really good for writers because it helps you just write instead of getting worried! I think it can be helpful for you to get into the habit of doing that even when NaNoWriMo is over, too - the more times I try speedwriting like that, the better I feel about my writing in general, because you really start to realize that it's okay to make mistakes! Anyone who tells you you have to get everything right the first time (and there are some people who will tell you that) is being silly and unreasonable, because that's just not really possible to do with a whole novel! Sometimes you have to make a mess to get anything worthwhile out, and that's okay, even though it would be a lot easier if you could just write perfectly all the time! Also, pretty much everyone has problems with repetition. It's really hard! And then sometimes you figure out a new way of saying something and end up doing that over and over instead. Sometimes what I do to fix it is to just come up with a really silly-sounding way of saying it, or try to simplify it, and while that might not turn out to be right for what you're saying, it kind of helps so that you can see outside the box a little! Another thing I do for it is to identify the repetitive part and just take it out entirely, because sometimes it actually doesn't need to be there at all! For instance something people repeat a lot is "suddenly", and lots of times you'll find that you can just remove that word and the reader will know that it's sudden without being told! I do the same thing with sentence structure and just cut pieces of sentences out sometimes, because I have a tendency to overwrite, so lots of words aren't actually needed (I do that when I'm talking, too, but I tend to just leave long sentences alone when I talk because I get upset trying to edit myself to be shorter). Or if you write too many short sentences, sometimes some can be combined or expanded upon!

    You're welcome! I'm glad it's helpful!
Thank you!! I practice writing advice a lot I really like thinking about advice so I do that a lot even if I'm not giving anyone advice at the moment that's probably not one of the goals most people have in mind when they're writing!

Oh, sorry, by "rewrite" there I meant starting over entirely! Tearing apart old stuff really is hard, and I find it a lot easier just to start over! You end up making a huge mess that way, and if there was a mess in the first place then that can call for a lot of start-over rewrite, but I think a lot of times it's worth it to make a mess! You get a lot done that way, as you get to revisit old scenes and see more clearly how things can be done differently! If you have a really good part, you could paste or copy that, though. Or instead of starting over from the beginning of a whole book, sometimes you could just substitute in the new verstion of a chapter, and store the old chapter away somewhere! I guess you'd pretty much have to start over from the beginning for that character, though, but that's alright - I think it would be a good idea in that case to eventually start over! There might be a lot about that character that you don't know yet, because you haven't written her throughout the whole story!

Right, it's perfectly okay to be kind of a copycat! Stealing or totally copying is still bad, but that's not what you're doing at all - you're just borrowing ideas from places and playing with them until they become your own! Tons of people start out with sort of copycat ideas! Also it's okay to dream big even if it doesn't happen; it's fun just to think about what it would be like, right? And maybe someday it really could happen, you never know!

I'm kind of more nocturnal, too. When it turns night then I suddenly feel a lot more productive! Something I've found helps with that is to have a set bedtime and to get up earlier. If you set your bedtime, you don't end up staying up too late, as that can just push your productivity time later and later! Too, sometimes when you go to bed when you're still feeling productive, that feeling can linger and stay with you into your morning hours! And getting up earlier than usual can give you kind of the same feelings of being a little tired but still awake and ready to do things. There's something about being a little tired that can be really inspirational - my Dad said maybe it's because you're getting a little closer to your sub-conscious! I'm not sure if that's accurate but it kind of makes sense. Also, I've been trying lately to do just a little productive thing before starting to do anything big, and then you can kind of segue into doing a bigger productive thing! It's a lot easier to keep going once you've already gotten started. Doing something leisurely beforehand (like reading!) can help as well, because then you feel like you've done something for yourself and so now it's okay to work for a while.

I thought Loveless was really cute! That was a few years ago now, but I liked the characters and I thought it had some neat ideas in it! Also, kitty ears. You might like it!

Ki is my real name! Well, it's not on my birth certificate, but everyone in real life calls me Ki (if they don't, I correct them). Too, I also go by "Kiru" for short, so sometimes even if people don't know that I'm Ki in real life they want to shorten my name even more and then it turns into Ki!
what? Oh no its not because of anything here! I've just been really sick lately and needed to take a bit of a hiatus, but am rethinking it.
Cerb, the Houndoom Society is becoming a great success. You wanna do my HSBC battle system.
Hi! I've been a little busy and haven't been able to sit down and focus on a reply - I'll get around to it soon now that it's December and I've finally gotten a new operating system installed. Just letting you know you haven't been forgotten about!
Quite interestingly, I got Houndoom the first time in the personality quiz. It does depict me quite accurately but I wouldn't say I'm not open-minded...
That not necessarily awkward but at least odd moment when you see a guy talk about the age of consent in his country and only after reading that you realize he was talking about the country in which you live in.
I guess we can both share the rule of Houndoom, I guess. Being that you are a Houndoom fan too, you could join my Houndoom Society.
Cool. I can never decide whether I like L or Light better; they're both so intriguing. Intellectual adrenaline yes. Death note is awesome that way.
What you also have to remember is that if you get published, there will always be people who bash you. People even bash Harry Potter, even when it's so popular! That doesn't mean it's not a really good series that lots and lots of people like! If you're just afraid of being bashed and having people say mean things, you would have to just hide in a corner your whole life and that's not very fun! You have to be strong against all the meanness and be yourself and write whatever novel you want whatever anyone might say about it!

It's perfectly okay to be inspired by something, and only someone very silly would bash you for taking your inspiration from somewhere! Everyone does it to some degree! Characters and stories don't generally stick as exactly the same thing, though, they grow and evolve all on their own if you keep writing them! You've already said that your character is a lot different, just inspired, not a copy! So it's perfectly alright to keep writing her just the way she is. Even if a character is really similar to another and stays that way, it just can't be helped, sometimes it just turns out that way! Also you'll find that even if you have absolutely no idea what a piece of fiction is, people will try to tell you that your story is a copy of it. So it doesn't really matter what you do, just tell your story!

And I guess that is kind of scary that stories change themselves and take their own directions, but it's alright! The story gets a lot more alive and real when that happens, where instead it sounds really forced if you try to make it be how you envisioned even when everything is telling you that it needs to be another way. It makes it really, really tough to tell stories sometimes, but it's exciting, too! It's like you're actually reading the story instead of just making it up, only different because you get to see all those other paths and options that could have happened! I tend to think of it kind of like you're channeling the story, and sometimes you misinterpret the messages you're getting - it's interesting that way because it's like it's a real story, and so the mistakes you're making are just mistakes on a path to finding the real story! I guess some people would find that really weird to say, but that's how it really feels when you're writing!

You're welcome for the help! I like writing writing advice so I really don't mind being asked even if I get distracty sometimes!
