I understand. I don't blame you or anything; she really is rainbows and butterflies all the time. I this (Penny's part only) is her new theme, if only because of the pure contrast of the parts. Her new thing is being agressively optimistic-if anything bad starts to happen she'll actually start to not believe her optimistic thoughts, but she'll push that to the back of her mind and try to think of the nice kitties again or something. Of course, she'll eventually get more irritable and more normal because ignoring everything bad will come back to bite her eventually. I can definitely see how she's irritating, and that's what caused my inactivity a while back. I stopped feeling her and she more "ridiculous genki girl" than an actual character. Of course now I have my ideas back, and she's not annoying to me anymore because well. If she was annoying to me I wouldn't want to write her a lot of the time! Yesss. Rebecca wasn't exposed to much evil, if we're expositing--she was homeschooled on a farm with no television, so you can't really hear about all the mass murders in Unova or something. I'd say Rebecca doesn't have much power at the moment, just speed. (Although I'm planning to edit her movepool to add better offensive moves soon.) So, she can't do much other than support and dodge the bullets. xD

It really is, isn't it? I'd like for her to post, too. We're organizing something that Beauty can't orchestrate. Speaking of her, I'm kind of in a tough spot too, because she's just crying pathetically in her room. There's not much for her to interact with. Maybe I should talk to Silver soon, but she has/is going to be gone for a few days. She told me she would.

... Looking at it now my post makes Rebecca seem very Sue-ish. :/ Sorry about that; maybe some crippling optimism/pacifism when it's really not needed (and actually unhelpful) will help more later. She really is naive, isn't she?

I'm wondering what Sayne will have to say about that. I don't know why our characters always end up being rivals, but if Sayne is negative about anything I think we can cook up a little conflict of ideals. x3 She'd feel so terrible for hating someone, but at the same time she'd be so irritated at Sayne being willing to kill.

Then she's going to think that 'different' means 'shiny' and freak out internally. And then she's going to remember his speech earlier and get both terrified and confused. She's eventually going to think that of /course/ an enemy couldn't give her compliments and try to deny that she's different.

Hey, do you think Angel knows she's shiny? She tried her best to hide it but they /are/ siblings.

Anway. Angel's Kirk Summation of Beauty is wonderful. You said it better than I ever could, and in character no less! Bluh. I really am a horrible person with my characters; I love them so much. Also, Angel just complimented Beauty /and/ called her different. Once he's done with her, she's going to be truly insane. That really breaks her worldview.

Interesting. Myself, I'd say the swearing is fine; it's in-character and as long as you don't /abuse/ it I'm sure you'll be good. I wonder how Beauty's going to react; I honestly think I'm just going to start writing and hope for the best. Things are getting a little chaotic in the meeting room, aren't they? ... Oops. Lying is a ~very large part~ of politics, though. Or at least not saying exactly what you mean. I'm wondering what would happen if he got stuck in a room with Beauty and other "polite" nobles. Yep, she is. She was a beautifly once, in a very old RP where two sentence posts were the norm. She was a sadistic leader of an evil organization bent on kidnapping children and taking over the world. Pretty cliche, but. She was a dark/flying type as well, and predictably was a shiny morph of dustox and gorebyss. Her craziness was more based on sadism than appearance, but she still flipped out at insults related to her shininess. The RP was great... I /usually/ don't do that sort of thing (I think she might be the first person I've done this with!), but I was getting ridiculously nostalgic when the RP came out. Of course, I love Angel too; I still adore Beauty, though. Everyone's partially biased in their character's direction in some way, after all. Yeah, I was thinking about that. Because I absolutely /can't/ make her happy, Beauty's going to freak out at the sight of a normal Angel. It just might shatter her perception of the world. And once she gets the orb, at first she's going to look normal but then she'll appear as she really is, shiny. Then she'll go crazy, scream and break the orb. It'll be /hilarious/.

I figured that was just about the only thing that would make Beauty want to cooperate. That sounds interesting, I have to admit! Especially because it being the Deep Sea Orb sort of fits with the deepseatooth (no spaces, right?) and deepseascale. It sounds like a Character Item. Did you talk to SE&F about having that? It might be plot important enough to need his approval, but that does sound like an awesome subplot. In fact, I'm wondering what she'd think of Angel not using it. I can't help but hope that it's broken or she really doesn't want to be normal or something, though. It would not only cause more turmoil, but really say something about her character. It would create more psychological issues, which is obviously the best thing ever okay .I think the existiental crisis of being fictional would be more important, but they'd probably be more than unnerved at the cooperation. ... Yes. It would explore all her issues and rant about how Rafael is the best plus how Demon is going to kill them all if he comes to power.

Oh, okay. My first thought was "resurrect Beauty for this now," so I never paid attention to the egg groups. I just figured we could handwave it if needed by saying the king was an underwater aquatic ditto. Or something.

I also like the competitive theme. It gives you a real reason to participate, you know? Well, that's ominous. /I'm/ definitely interested, of course. Though depending on what the item/thing is (a way to make her normal, perhaps?), Beauty probably wouldn't cooperate with "Demon" long enough to get whatever it is, much less spy on someone for him. He's an ugly lying scarred treasonous mutant monster, you know. And if you look at the sign-up thread, Beauty is about to get a spy of her own...

Good point. I'm just wondering what the implications of Beauty's father being a huntail would be.

So do I (obviously). They're fun to look over and consider when activity is low. Not like it isn't active, but now Tides Under Siege is my baby and it's all thanks to Beauty and Angel. :D

Claudio will be a very unfortunate Only Sane Man. Anyway I must agree with the rivalry thing~ The only problem is Beauty will only particpate in passive-aggressive political talk while in public. Angel would have to either really provoke her or be alone for such a thing to happen. However, that doesn't mean that they can't try! So far, it sort of feels like I haven't emphasized her sensitivity enough. If Angel and her were alone in her room when he said that, she /would/ attempt to kill him. The thing is, she's so devoted to Rafael's cause it's one of the few things she can think of at that point. Making her an Example is fun, both with hypochrisy and craziness.

Oh, definitely not. She's going to try to recruit people in a frenzy now, because obviously Angel having ~one~ follower is the worst thing ever. Heh, I was wondering of what he thought of her before that. She probably just insisted taking the campaign over--and she's even doing well! On TV, if that even exists here. That's going to be a big part of her character, her horrible self esteem and extreme willingness to 'sacrifice' herself. She's normally that arrogant and believing, but once the idea is planted in her head she'll insist that the previous king wanted her to die and she is ugly and worthless. She really just wants to be normal, poor thing; too bad she's entirely convinced that she's going to be killed because of her shininess. :( She really has a good chance of killing herself if Angel came to power: it's just she'd be doing it almost entirely to frame Angel as a murderer. Her horrible self esteem and self hatred would play a large part in it, though. (Okay, finished the other VM. You can reply, obviously.)

... Really? Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. :D Beauty is one of my favorite characters, and I'm glad that she's now improved over her previous version.

I just loved writing that, her craziness and denial plus her trying to get back at him. She would have shouted and screamed at him but then she realized she was in a room with civilized people and they would probably freak out. Once she gets to her room she's going to scream, cry, break things and basically ruin everything. And if Angel presses her any further about her appearance, she will flip. She's kind of teetering on the edge of trying to kill him, pretending that she's unaffected but ready to attack if anything else goes wrong. Crazy people are awesome.

We need to make this rivalry a recurring thing. With Angel's determination (you're playing him really well; his bluntness is quite interesting with all the lies and political-talk) and Beauty's passive-aggressiveness, they could really mess things up.

And maybe if he really tried he could make Beauty a better person and not care about appearances. But it was when she evolved into a gorebyss she really became twisted and decided that appearance is the most important thing. Her evolution really was when she determined her allegiance, and unless she magically becomes a clamperl again she won't want anything to do with someone who's like a huntail.

(I just realized the king's species was never said. Should it be a huntail?)

Beauty's rivalry with Angel is ridiculously fun to write. :D Now she's calling him Demon mentally... I anticipate much more conflict in the future.
