• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

  • Piano is tough! I took lessons when I was eight, and it seems easy to hit the right keys, but it takes a lot of concentration, surprisingly. I think I'll just stick to guitar for now (even though I might be developing another blister oh god).

So has the snow melted up there, yet?
When I first started playing, I had a lot of trouble with a particular thing; so I set up an exercise that would help me learn. I got six peanut-butter crackers, and every time I played it well, I took one. Every time I played it at anything less than perfect, I took one away. I left with a blister that day.
What do theater majors even do for assignments? if you guys act for grade, how is that graded if that's something subjective?
    Aladin is the greatest. :o

Yep. Recorder is dumb, I was always really bad at it and never practised it or anything. Guitar is really hard too, but you kind of get the hang of it eventually! After a few blisters and bleeding fingers, of course.
Apparently, the Theater Club directive already convened and has decided which musicals are going up to vote. It's a complicated process. Since you mused so much about Music Man, I googled it, glossed over it, and thought it was pretty interesting, so I suggested it to a friend of mine that is on the directive.
I actually just wanted an opportunity to use that picture. But if you want!

A bit off-topic, but I've been playing guitar a lot lately! I'm getting somewhat close to being kind of not bad! Do you play any instruments?
I TOTALLY MISREAD THAT AS "IT HIT ME LIKE A TON OF DICKS" I'M SO SORRY

Oh. *raises eyebrows* You know you are going to tell me how this works out.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELF but hey, whatever floats your boat. Is this one less... confusing?

I'm pretty good! I'm not at a therapist's office, fortunately, and I have a thousand pounds of accumulated guilt off my back, so that's good. Things have been pretty routine and boring around here, though.

    How's school?
I saw the tumblr thing about the theater curse. Why exactly is saying that (I don't want to jinx R&J, just in case) bad?
If you ever feel like ranting to someone in real-time, I'm here :) I hope you find a resolution to your quandary soon
From what I've heard, it's during the AIDS crisis in the nineties, and that most of the characters die. It sounds really interesting, and apparently Idina Menzel was in it at some point.
Are you familiar with Rent? A friend of mine who is on the Theater Club Directive really likes it, and will lobby so that the teacher/director can consider it for this semester's musical.
Do you have any tips on how to memorize your lines? I don't have many for Romeo and Juliet, but I'm gonna need them for the future.
    Oh, yikes.

Apparently, my aunt had scholarships and financial aid, so she was getting money for going to community college.
"weird shenanigans" I'm laughing really hard at that

Haha, so sharing with needy people is weird now? Scrooge is turning in his grave right now.

And that's true, but will they completely kick you from college because you aren't doing so hot in one class that doesn't even pertain to your degree?
