The thing is, working hard to feel happiness feels good. It feels /good/ to work towards a goal. Keep struggling and getting your little successes and failures along the way. Life is not a waste, even if we don't really know why we're all here. The point of life is to do whatever you want, to find your own meaning in it and set your own priorities. If you don't make it... well aah well, that's life, eh?

I'd still rather not live a mediocre life forever than live a really excellent life and then die.
