  • Thanks for taking the time to write a reffing for our battle, even though now it's not really going to come to anything. I enjoyed reading it. c: (normally I would just include this in my commands post but, well.)
Yeah, like Absol doesn't have a large enough movepool to begin with! :P Chock full of crit moves, too. Night Slash, Psycho Cut, Stone Edge... Speaking of which, I /do/ need to give my own Absol a signature move. And modify his signature attribute. It's been long due.

Wait, but if there are more logical right-handed people, then doesn't that mean 90% of the population /will/ be logical?
yeah, that seems a bit excessive. maybe we're reading this wrong: perhaps 90% of everyone is things other than crap? that would imply that the other 10% is all crap, though...
Yeah, I'd imagine with more complicated arenas it'd be a lot harder to forget that the arena exists and that the Pokémon are interacting with it throughout the battle like I tend to do, since you'd constantly be mentioning it and then having the arena there would help add variation to things. But there are also just so many attacks that are just, like, a punch or a kick, and I sometimes wonder what is the difference in execution that makes them have different effects, and how Pokémon can even tell them apart. I'd love to be able to write those more interestingly.
Or if you have a signature...! Based on what it is, it might have a nice use. For example, when I evolved my Snorunt I purposely lowered the BP of her signature move so she'd have a... 130BP grass-type move, I think it was?

... hm! That's an interesting observation. But wait, I thought that it was the right-handed people who typically were more logical? Or idek anymore.
I have to say, "Status: Panting, but exuberant." amused.

mostly because that is quite the opposite of what it would be feeling if it had a mind for planning, but.
    Awesome, thanks! :D

Ah, yeah. I have that problem a lot, too. I guess that's why writing for a new battle helps; then I don't have to think about being too repetitive right away.

By the way, you use the scale that's in the damage and energy guide, right?
Yup. Dig allll the way down until you're pretty much untouchable, and then Natural Gift! Over and over!

I don't think handedness has /that/ much of an effect on logic and blah blah blah. I mean it does have some, but some of the most artsy people I know are right-handed, and some of the most logical people I know are left-handed, so...!
Oh, that would be lovely. :D Do you think you could take a look at me vs. Ki, take one sometime? It'll be my second ever battle to progress past round one, haha. I'm quite excited to get my Espeon. (Damage cap's been raised to 50%, by the way.)

Thank you! Haha, I've been working on cutting out some of the fluff from my reffings so I can try to get better at describing actual attacks, which I'm not very good at; I'm totally in awe at the other refs who always spin out such pretty descriptions of what's actually going on while mine have just been like "blah blah he did this and then he did this" lately. Working on a new battle is helping some; I've actually already finished the writeup for yours, but I tend to spend more time editing my descriptions than I do writing them. :p
Doesn't the battle end, now that you've been approved? I'm not quite sure how negrek is working these battles.

(Regardless, commands will be up tomorrow morning. Sorry.)
Hmm, maybe after she actually gets around to updating Natural Gift? I mean I quite like it the way it is, now. :P

CLASSMATES used HEAVY SLAM! It's super effective! And well, I know some left-handed people who are great with math or physics or whatever, but... let's just say it's discriminatory to people who just aren't that good with math.

Oh yeah, sure! Tell her she can. I'm okay with picking up any battle of yours, as long as it's not a 50-person free-for-all or something.
Hey! I've had my eye on that now-three-way of yours for a while; now that my exams are over, would you guys be cool with it if I picked it up? I mean, it seems like people might want to wait for a... less-new ref to do it, but a three-way still looks pretty easily manageable, so. I dunno, just checking.

Congratulations on becoming a ref, by the way! I quite like your writing. c: It's nice to see some of those unfinished battles being picked up.
Hm, I guess you're right! With the Overgrow/etc. boosts, even NVE attacks do some respectable damage. And it'd increase the usefulness of berries - I remember Blastoise was saying how berries didn't sell well because they were often inferior to other items.

Well, there's an idea! I'll just invite a bunch of my classmates over and have them all sit on my brother. And it also goes like "and because you'll never be as smart as I am, you'll get a disproportionately low mark! Isn't that great!"
Hmm, I suppose so? You can still set HP type with a plate, but yeah, it's not as powerful, and at least a berry has a use other than setting the type?

Well I'm on the light side with the people I know, so it doesn't work for me D: That's pretty much the purpose of those questions. The uber-genius math nerds go around waving their 100%s while the others see their marks plummet to 70% or so, just because of a single question...
It makes sense, but I'll miss the way Natural Gift is right now! That's a much more niche purpose, though, and while it still might be useful it won't be nearly as useful, you know?

I can't really sit on people because it just makes things awkward and I'm not heavy enough to cause discomfort, so. :U (and he only has one chair in his room, so if I'm working in his room or watching him play games or something I just sit on his bed, and I doze off sometimes...) Yeah, they're questions specifically designed so you can never do well on a math test |< They're evil.
So that it would be more like it is in the actual games. Significantly nerfing it, sadly.

Not really wrestling, I might just be snoozing in his bed and then he sits on me. And it's only when he's feeling extra trollish, thankfully. Having to apply all the rules of an entire unit to one question on a test just... augh I can't do it. And then I die on the test because obviously, those questions are worth the most marks.
    Yeah, but when it does go... I'll miss it ;~;

Oh, my brother does drop heavy things on me. Namely himself. It's a bit painful to be crushed under 230 pounds OTL The rules of math do make sense most of the time (loathe as I am to admit it) but sometimes you have to sit and think about it and that... doesn't go well with me. I'm just not a very logical person.

    No problem~
