Centrico Plaza is the crown jewel resting in the core of Lumiose City. Just the Prism Tower, standing at the very center of it, is already one of the most widely recognized landmarks of the entire region; and even the rest of the location isn't too shabby, with verdant gardens, beautifully patterned cobblestone pathes, the sound of the river running underneath the floor, and a surrounding circle of mid-height Kalosian houses, the splendorous local arquitecture adorning the plaza as a foil. Many businesses have come into being at the ground floors of the area, but today, the world-famous roundway of egg hatching is all Asber's, with barriers sealing off all of the many roads leading into the city's very own hub -- and of course, curious crowds gathering at the edges to watch the competition.

For this round of the tournament, each player has been loaned a fresh Pokémon from Kalos. Battles in this round will not last longer than five rounds; if neither Pokémon has fainted by the end of the fifth round, the winning trainer will be the one with the greatest sum of health and energy remaining on their Pokémon.

Arena status: Unchanged.

Having managed to capture his restless Pokémon's attention for just a moment, pathos managed to convince the Honedge to channel her anger into a more productive blow. This time, there were no conditionals to crunch, only a direct attack to open the procedures with. And so, after the signal to resume battle, she waited not one moment longer...

Before Binacle could even brace herself, her opponent's edge was alight and thrusting in at high speeds. A lunge right between the heads, and straight into the rock -- for a moment, the sword Pokémon seemed to be in wait of a chosen hero to pull her out. But, of course, she still slipped back out of her own accord, much more satisfied now as she had seen the opponent's expression of tremendous pain at the conclusion of the powerful attack.

The two barnacle heads became rapt in another argument, and worse, it would escalate into the physical realm as they blindly swung at each other. They never struck, but they hopped all over the place as they tried. Give or take some minutes, they had been at it for long enough to accidentally perform a rain-summoning dance -- a successful one, as announced by the sudden thunderclap and the thunderbolt harmlessly striking the lightning rod atop Prism Tower. Another nice save from Clemont, it seems.

Honedge seemed to want shelter from the rain; her trainer quickly indicated for her to dive in the tunnel left on the ground by the foe's earlier digging. She rushed in, reaching the bottom just as her opponent noticed what she was up to -- but she stubbornly refused to wait at the depths, and started to mindlessly rush into open battle. But even before she managed to make it out of the hole, she was blasted with a flux of water even hotter than the forger's oil, mixing in with the rain for added vollume.

Not one to take without giving, the animate weapon pointed the tip of her blade at the enemy, sparkling with the reflected light of another thunderbolt. She then slashed at the air, and the gathered light shot forth from the impulse, exploding into a blidning burst that wrecked havoc in all four of the target's eyes.

The flashing attack left Binacle a mess, as the briefly visually impaired heads understood each other even less as they tried to right themselves and kept hitting each other instead. They still managed to cooperate just long enough to release another wave of searing brine out of their rock, but their focus was shot for good.

Meanwhile, Honedge stood just barely above the increasing level of hot water in the bottom of the tunnel. Never more thankful to be flat, she quietly absorbed her Oran Berry by crushing it with her tassel. Getting that wet wouldn't be as much of a problem with the dripping rain about to do that job with double efficiency.

- Going fully underground on something else's tunnel takes up an action, yes. Moreover, No Guard is not what you'd call a honedged sword...
- Neither Scald caused a burn.
- Flash Cannon in the third action dropped Binacle's Special Defense.
- For some reason the Oran Berries weren't written into my status listings up to this one... Also, Honedge ate hers on the third action.
- I also forgot to write the Dig hole into the arena status earlier; it's there now, along with a little extra.

As far as I recall Pokemon don't know anything about the actual Base Power of a move, I'm pretty sure there some some squabble over that ruling pre implosion? So theoretically Honedge has no idea how strong Binacle's attacks would be. So let's go for broke and burn the bastard!

Battles in this round will not last longer than five rounds; if neither Pokémon has fainted by the end of the fifth round, the winning trainer will be the one with the greatest sum of health and energy remaining on their Pokémon.

Despite the increasing complications that this entailed on both sides, the trainers steadfastly continued to issue commands to their Pokémon, through flooding holes or intense internal arguments.

Honedge seemed hesitative before the concept of "BP", but from what the enemy trainer shot back, it seemed to have something to do with power. And then the enemy Pokémon started using the same wretched attack from last round... It was something of a no-brainer, even to a thing that doesn't appear to have a brain: she wrapped herself snugly in her tassel, careful not to slash herself, and cast out a forcefield to repel the incoming attack. Unfortunately, all that water was still going somewhere, and the pool of boiling water at the bottom of the hole continued to increase in vollume... It was already impossible to stay exactly at the center and bottom.

The sword Pokémon ultimately chose the side of the tunnel that was closer to the enemy -- after all, that was where the fight was at. And indeed, the two in battle continued to lob long-range attacks at each other, despite being at close enough range as to make the attacks harder to miss. This, even as Binacle's focus continued to suffer due to the disconcertingly bright flash attacks.

By the end of the round, the hole was positively turning into a full pool... It couldn't take much more investment to flood it entirely with burning-temperature waters.

Additional notes:
- I had to mull over this for a good while, but ultimately, I've decided that, while Pokémon can't tell BP precisely, they may know a strong attack that has been landing consecutively against them with boosted power from a weaker one. And of course, this means Honedge used Protect on the first action, and Scald failed to hit her due to that.
- Incidentally, I rolled for burn/crit/spdef drop on all three potential Scald/Flash Cannon attacks that could've happened this round. First Scald would have been a burn... And of course, second Flash Cannon was a special defense drop.
- Binacle ate the Oran Berry on the third action.
- Wargle commands first next round.

Honedge patiently listened to her commands, only for a subtle shift in the water to brush against the tip of her blade. Yikes, hot. She dramatically jerked her edge away from the heat source before beginning battle once more.

And speaking of jerking, of course, she proceeded to make a jerk of herself, spouting one liners about how Binacle thought the hot liquid was his ally when she had only adopted it, while Honedge had been born in one, molded by it. She didn't feel the room temperature until she was already a sword, and by then, it did nothing to her but burn! Or, uh, freeze. This worked better in the original quote, probably. But somehow, it was enough to rile the enemy up, although one might argue that she had only been waiting for a given to excuse to get mad.

In a way, that was her secret: she was always angry. And indeed, a little more outrage was nothing to prevent her from insistently carrying out her scalding attack, nearly pushing her foe straight into the burning flood.

Nonetheless, with that out of the way, it was time to enact the latter half of the plan. Honedge pointed herself at a wall high up on the tunnel, then darted towards it as if to stab. But instead of imbedding herself in rock, she plunged into the darkness cast upon the hole by the figure of a tree nearby. Binacle then began furiously arguing about the whereabouts of the opponent, leaving them wide open for a hilt bash from behind as their searchee reappeared on their six. The stiff, direct blow landed right on a crack at her rock, deepening it and threatening to outright shatter it.

Angrier than ever before, the two barnacle heads shouted skyward... And then proceeded to move in perfect cooperation, jetting out another burst of searing water to grave injury. For a moment, it seemed as if Honedge could hold on, but her steel was melting at an alarming rate -- pathos had no choice but to call her off before the damage became permanent. Both trainer shook hands on a terrific match, and then were hastily shooed to make room for another bout.

Additional notes:
- One day, I will turn in a late-night reffing without covering it in silly references. Today is not that day.
- The combo on the second action landed a critical hit. I'm not sure I applied crit properly here (combo damage calcs are weird), but I guess it'll have to do.
-That hax could have been applied elsewhere to better effects, though, as Binacle averted confusionfail on the two actions it took to KO.
