• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

^^ All Five Master Ribbons on ONE Pokemon

Milotic is pretty, Feebas is not.

But you could win Cute with Rayquaza, I wish they actually made a system using what the Pokemon ACTUALLY looks like not just if it's been fed heaps of good poffins/pokeblocks.

It would make more SENSE.

I know! In fact, I came up with an idea for that kind of system and posted it in the 5th generation ideas thread

I really didn't think that a Pokemon could win a Sinnoh Master Rank contest without being fully conditioned for it. It's very impressive. How many tries did it take you to win the Cool contest?

The cool contest I won after 10-20 tries

The CUTE contest, on the other hand, took several hundred. I think in the 300-400 range?

The only reason why the tough and cool contests didn't take as long was because of the knowledge I gathered during the cute contest (I actually got so desperate that I took out the cartridge from my DS in order to freeze the game, JUST so that I could record the accessories on Jumpy x.x). Smart was pure luck on my part, as just two or three tries in, they got the judge to four voltage, and then I went first with Recover, getting me four voltage, PLUS four from Psych Up, PLUS eight from getting Dexter to full voltage

X3 You can tell I was disappointed when that never happened during any other contest, thus forcing me to rely on skill

300... You must have been completely resolute. Don't you wish there was a better prize for winning all the contests? There is no statue or art gallery in Sinnoh, in spite of Sinnoh's being harder than Hoenn.

Sinnoh harder than Hoenn? Think about it, Ruby. In Hoenn, half of your points come from pure condition. In Sinnoh, a third comes from appeal, and two fifths of that come from accessories

...But yeah, I wish there was an award. ESPECIALLY since I did it all with ONE Pokemon... >.<

And I wouldn't call it resolute so much as OCD going into overdrive x.x Oh well, at least I will go down in Pokemon History (hopefully x.x)

Yes yes. If not Pokemon history at least TCOD history.

And it does suck there isn't a prize but maybe it was taken out for all those people who are like 'Contests are pointless' and things.

But STILL :(

Winning a Master Rank contest does get you a star on your trainer card, I suppose, but it remains that there is no prize for winning them all.

Yeah, it does suck D:

Nintendo should seriously send this guy an award or something. Once again, many, many congratulations!

^^ Maybe you should make a petition :3

Of course, they probably would have never predicted somebody pulling this off ^^

Thanks ^^

Empoleon in Beauty is better than Feebas winning Ultra Rank Beauty (yes, I did that just before evolving her just for a few laughs X3)

What moveset(s) did the Milotic have? I'd really like to complete those contests for that star on the Trainer Card, but I can't come up with any strategic movesets.

With Beauty, erm, I forget the exact set, but I believe it was Ice Beam, Surf, Recover, and something else

Smart had Ice Beam, Recover, Psych Up, and something else (I forget the last move)

Cute had Ice Beam, Recover, Psych Up, and Protect

Tough AND Cool had Ice Beam, Avalanche, Waterfall, and Psych Up

The best strategy that works in ALL contests, though (for me, anyways), is:

Ice Beam, Psych Up, Waterfall/Tackle/similar move, and Contest-type specific move

It works like this:

First turn: Psych Up @ Dexter
Second Turn: Ice Beam @ Judge with Lowest Voltage (default to Dexter if he is tied with another Judge for this spot)
Third Turn: Psych Up @ Dexter
Fourth Turn: Ice Beam @ Dexter

Why it works: Psych Up GUARANTEES the lowest score, unless you are up against Fantina, but even then, unless you get a Judge by yourself and Fantina shares a judge with one or two others, you will still get to go first. Ice Beam then gets you 8 points. In all but Smart contests (and maybe Beauty, I need to check there again), the opponents rarely, if ever, choose Dexter first turn and third turn. On the second and fourth turns, they tend to go at the judge with the highest (or lowest if they have an attack that benefits from this. Even then, they seem to prefer Keira (the girl on the right) over Dexter) voltage.

They WILL choose Dexter often enough to piss one off, but he is your best bet. Anyways, you will then get an extra 3 points for standing out, or 2. It is VERY rare to get only 1 point from the judge, and I have only ever seen everybody choose the same judge a handful of times

The Waterfall, Tackle, etc. move is just in case if you are forced to second or third place. It will guarantee you 6 points if you used Psych Up the turn before. The last move is for those rare occasions where they actually raise a Judge's voltage to 4. But I have only seen that in Smart (there, well, I have an older topic celebrating that victory and how ridiculous it was. Opponents only seem to try to max out voltage in smart, for some bizarre reason)
